I'm on your side here buddy, lol. If there was alternate means to obtaining things from kings, I would be all over it. I'm sure the rest of my LS would too.Originally Posted by aurik
Fixed. Fixing with AV would be too cliche.Originally Posted by Kaylia
I think our whole server would do it, except for VC because they dont know how to do anything but kings.Originally Posted by Tilo
A JP on my server got Behemoth Hide from it with 18 people (and yeah, it's not "some JP", they are reliable enough to believe them.)Originally Posted by Kaylia
I've gotten like 18 XP scrolls, 1 Cloud Evoker (still have), and a Crimson Jelly
Someone actually got the Assault Breastplate on Ifrit. I haven't seen the person wearing it, but he sold it to himself on AH for like 300g lol.
Yeah there is one on Siren that I know of, and it's been listed on the AH once but didn't sell it to themselves (so i'm tyring to be the first to do that lol)Originally Posted by Kilik
Not sure if it sold or not, but there was one in RF on cerb going for 70mil gil.
Justinus is a bastard. I got a bowl of mushroom stew from my last Uninvited Guests. >_< Any time I get an item it is never worth more than 5k.Originally Posted by Kilik
Best I got was a bison steak when that npc quest asking for one was released. (30k). I got maybe 3-4 xp scroll and 10 shitty item.Originally Posted by Septimus
it would be really really really hard to get such a "more sophisticated bot" right. Sure, everything has to eventually trace back to a fixed location somehow. Like the first instruction inside a particular function is the one that allocates the memory, so you go all the way back to that particular function, whose code is in a fixed location. But the amount of work required to reverse engineer even the simplest non-trivial scheme based on dynamic allocation would be fucking hard and I doubt there are many, if any people who could get it right.Originally Posted by aurik
Same problem as most here with the King BS. LS can't claim because we don't bot and the others do. I've written SE a few E-mails in hopes that they might actually listen (lol). Nothing rude, just trying to encourage them to rethink Kings and toss abjurations into a KSNM or BCNM fight of some sort. I see a lot of people feel the same way, so SE's probably just clueless. Maybe we if bombard them with E-mails? >.>;
(Main POL page -> Service and Support -> E-mail Support -> Comments & Suggestions, took me a bit to find it myself.) I'm not optimistic that they'd actually listen, but I doubt it could hurt...
Wait, maybe I'm a noob, but Assault Breastplate comes from Uninvited Guests? I thought it came from KV or something.Originally Posted by Raineer
I think Abj in KSMN99 is a great idea, AV dropping 1-2 king abj a pop would be perfect in most regards. Maybe adding 3-6 more kings would be fun, all with the same abj drops, maybe a new cursed set or three.
Just find the code signature of some function that checks for object ids in the surrounding area and use that to find your offset dynamically. The function itself will rarely change so you won't have to update this signature hardly ever. One that I can think of off the top of my head is the compass draw function. You can write an app to search the memory space for this function -- probably take a minute or 2 to find it when you first start your bot -- and then follow the pointer to object-id-land (probably located at a fixed location on the stack) and voila.Originally Posted by divisortheory

How do you "find the code signature" of a function (if that function is not exported from a DLL)? Everything looks the same in assembly language. I'm not saying it's impossible to write a bot that works with dynamic memlocs, but with even half a brain the developers can make it so hard that it's probably not worth it for anyone to waste their time on. With static memlocs its trivial.
Why hello there Ida.Originally Posted by divisortheory

The same way virus scanners find viruses.Originally Posted by divisortheory
Unless SE rewrites those functions with every update, there will be a string of code somewhere that remains the same. Look for that exact string each time, and establish your reference point.
