it's a warcraft 3 custom game in which you can play up to 5v5.

each player picks a hero, and essentially you take your team of heroes vs the other team. you kill stuff for gold, level up, can buy several different items, etc. basically it's regular wc3, and instead of making creeps and buildings (the bases are set and creeps move on their own), you try to get your hero as buff as possible.

oh and btw my acct name (uswest) is kis. (with the period at the end).

I don't think Kis explained it very well, he made it sound boring. Basically you're trying to kill the other team's base to kill their Ancient. There are like 70+ different heroes to choose from. From that, there are different versions of dota, such as all random heroes, or everyone picks their hero, among tons of others. Plus there is an easy and hard mode...and to go with that there is a HUGE variety of items to get.

I don't find it's anything like regular WAR3 though. You don't have any sort of army to raise at all, you're just leveling your hero to go against other people's heroes.

While you're playing there are creeps and towers you have to fight, and end-game the game gets just super fun.

It's really fun, but it's actually extremely hard to learn to play because alot of people have been playing for a lot longer. If you're still wondering, then you can go to http://www.dota-allstars.com and read up on it. It's so fun if you like WC3.
