I am. The people who quit the game because they didn't get an M.Body, weren't playing the game for their friends, or for the MMO aspect of the game.

I think at cap's creation, it was kind of like WoW's equipment. Look how powerful the (directional) Shadow's drops are(Crosscounters, Ebow), SH, Sim's Staff(forget name), and Striders. All those items make a big difference compared to their level. In general it seemed they didn't care about the 'armor' balance then. It seems they slowed down on that kind of equipment since that time, with few exceptions.. Ridil and Destroyers... stuff like that.

To simply answer 22's question, Very few NA have been killing the 3 kings for 3+yrs, For the longest time they where JP onry on bahamut just JP and BG camped So Faf is pretty new for what EVERY NA ls on bahamut? Hell im amazed BG camped with the past claming system..

You have a HNMls you can camp 3 kings against JP and lose for weeks and when you finally get it by some freak of luck and you realize you've never fought a king before and your ls wipes, then you go back everyday to get lucky again enough to maybe get a pull over JP Connection and Bots, then try a new start to see if you don't wipe.. no thanks..

IMO 3kings came out when SE finally fixed the claming sysytem.

dont any of you remember setting little goals? most of us im sure, leveled our first job thinking "i'll never get my AF! they keys are so rare! the chests are so hard to find and i'll get lost and probably die!!! /sigh" but most (lol all) have probably gotten full AF1 for their first job, and just sat in jeuno, or their mog house, and just ooooh and aaaaahhh at themselves (i huggled my taru for hours after full af1! a little medic awww! ). And we set goals after that, xSpell or xWeaponSkill, or xFullAF2.

Alot of ppl miss what makes FFXI a truely great game. If you look at the absolute best part of FFXI it is by far the story. Forget endgame for a split second, think about Zm17, DM, promathia battle in CoP, bahamut#1, Apocalypse nigh, rank up missions. These missions make this game worth the time spent. There is so much ppl are missing when WoW players talk poorly about FFXI.

Kings is nolonger representative of FFXI endgame content. Maybe three years ago, but not now. You can choose what type of endgame you wanna' do in FFXI now. I could do dynamis and get full AF2 and walk around with just as much pride (depending on job cuz some af2 is shit) as someone in full kings gear. I can be in a sky LS only, and get full ninja gods gear, and feel badass. I can wear homam/nashira from limbus, or do assault casually and have some awesome gear.
Also, you can get a great sense of accomplishment from killing a wyrm, or Kirin, or one of the kings. Walking around with a badass title is pretty cool. It's not always about your gear.

There is alot to do in Vana'diel, so kings can be a way to get gils, a way to help your buddy get his dalmatica, or just something you do to get more points, and lot some other stuff. You have to look at the broader scope of the game. There is alot more to do than just kings. Look at the ppl with CoP rings/earrings DM earrings rank 10 etc etc.
This term endgame is really just an idea that high levels need to be doing something, collectively as a large group. Be nice if ppl look at endgame as what you can do with your 70+ job. Nearly all the missions finale is 70+ content, its also very worthwhile stuff.

It's not FFXI's job to try and be more like WoW, it's FFXI's job to be as true to the source material as possible, and appeal to the type of ppl who like this super challenging I have gear You can never have mentality. Different strokes for different folks. When I wanna' have alot of fun in a game, I don't put in any MMO, I put on hitman or something. When I wanna' be badass in a video game I play FFXI. I seen WoW videos, and the characters look pretty goofy, sure u can have all this great gear... but... can anything in WoW be as sexy as someone in a dalmatica? Idk, but maybe thats why ppl keep doing kings.. cuz u just look so damn sexy with the gear on. >.>

Sorry.. but you have it allllll wrong... first of all.. 3 kings ARE FFXI's endgame. Second, FFXI isnt a "traditional" MMO.. with the story and such. Most MMOs have a storyish.... but FFXI just has some cutscenes.

That made me rofl because dynamis AF2 droprates are probably the most broken thing in FF..

FFXI is unique as far as MMOs go, simply because instead of spending the time to create new content.. they just make content made 3 years ago extremly hard to get and take years to accomplish so they dont have to bother making a ton of new content.. or they make you work very hard for something like fucking sea... and just forget about it.

I'll have to agree with you there. SE has too much on their plates it seems to devote the kind of attention needed for an MMO. Even though they do their share fair of updates, I can just tell resources and time is a huge contraint on the type of game we're getting. I've seen what else SE can put out, and its pretty amazing, as many of you can agree. They've just spread themselves too thin lately, and its showing.

SEs biggest failure was that its first expansions gear has yet to be outdone in the majority of scenarios. Thus the same content has to be rehashed over and over because everybody wants to be the best.

That being said, I already have all the king gear I need for all my jobs(not that I needed much anyway). I still camp them. FFXI is about competition, and about pride moreso then in other MMOs. If you dont show up semi frequently to camp the 'same old enemy', your rivals will. Then they'll get whatever drops they need. That cant happen. It wont happen. Im going to camp Nidhogg.

This is a mmo they are releasing in Japan seems to be no offical word about US release, that I could find. Its called Fantasy Earth, Ring of Dominion. Here is some information about it that I found. Beta is out in Japan I think.

At present, there are five different monster types.

Dragon � The dragon type has everything you would expect of a dragon. Aerial combat and fire breathing are the mainstays of this monster. Staying up in the air allows the player to avoid short ranged attacks while raining fire down on the opposition.

Giant � While in the form of a giant the player�s movement rate will be decreased drastically. Yet what the player loses in speed, they gain in sheer power.
