That is the main flaw of WoW.. not enough monkeys.. In FFXI, the jungle areas and kazham were introduced on purpose to fix that. j/k... :wink:Originally Posted by Vobent
But seriously, you can never have enough monkeys.
Sorry if this was asked earlier but maybe someone can clarify something for me.
When ever S-E gimps something, they blame it on "balance" and this chocobo calling stuff is really exciting but they are going to adjust the recall timers to keep the ingame "balance".
I'm just curious if anyone has any idea what kind of balance issues could be created by allowing people to actually call their mount when ever they want to?
Truth be told, chocobo is a pretty slow way to get anywhere and is only better than actually walking and Im sure most people will just use thier chocobo to cut down the "in between" time... like telepoint to OP lol.
What's the point of restricting recast?
Do they just want to make sure that you have enough time to get owned by aggro if you dismount in a bad place?
It doesn't matter what I say, but my avatar kicks ass!Originally Posted by solsovly

You get to choose to use your Chocobo Whistle (500g says this will be the enchanted item) to either get the ENM item, or to travel to the correct entrance to Bearclaw Pinnacle after getting the ENM item.
Because renting chocobos is one of the many ways gil is taken out of the economy to combat inflation. It may not seem like a lot, but hundreds of people paying 2-3k gil a pop for chocobos everyday at the Crag of Mea is one of the valves that helps to keep the total amount of gil in the game down.Originally Posted by Hyjynx
And chocobo diggers should be thrilled that zones like Xarcabard, Valley of Sorrows, and Lufaise Meadows will not be constantly dug up because everyone and their mothers will be calling there 30 times a day.
Or if you do it once a week with a group you can get your item once day then go to the entrance the next. Everybody wins!Originally Posted by Jeryhn
There's always that. But I'm usually too busy doing other things than to take the time to split one activity into two days.Originally Posted by Septimus
I got the impression that raising your own chocobo would be a gil sink in itself, so that any way you go about getting on choco (calling your own or renting one), somehow money would be leaving the economy. That's really the only downside I can see to this new feature -- chocobo raising being exponentially more costly than just renting one. Red chocobos sound cool, but fuck me if I'm going to pay 5m for an egg or something retarded like that.Originally Posted by Septimus
If you really think they are going to let you choco in (non-ToAU) areas that you couldn't choco in before, I have a bridge to sell you Arizona.
Techinally choco riding wasn't disallowed in those zones, they were just inaccessible because they could only be reached via tele/outpost/dungeon.Originally Posted by Thranduil

My guess is there is nothing to dig there, and they are not going to add it. That, and it defeats the whole purpose of the time sink getting the ENM item is and truesight mobs if you can just choco past em all![]()
You can't take your Chocobo into Beaucidine from Batallia Downs. Been there, done that.Originally Posted by Thranduil

Each zone probably has each of these things programmed independently for the zone as opposed to zones being separated into Outdoor Areas, Towns and Dungeons.
I'll see your Diddy Kong Racing, and raise you:

I wouldn't be surprised if they added timing or strategy specific options to racing. If you ever played Ocarina of Time, the carrot mini-part timing in some way.
Also they could have race stats for the maximum possible speed for your chocobo, because it would be pretty easy to figure out what the minimum course time could be. And if you go under that, you could come into question for Performance Ehancing Third Party Programs.
IMHO, the only way to stop client-side speedhacking, is to take it off of the Client Side. If you've dual boxed or LAN Party FFXI, you know your character is always a few seconds before the server, So Everybody within 2-3 seconds of the leader, would bitch because on THEIR screen, they won the race.
I'm REALLY looking forward to seeing how they implement this... I want a courser, with a little red in it's coat. <.<
I was thinking it might be something more like FFX, where you had a certain amount of time, and you had a certain goal to achieve before the time ran out, as well as reaching the finish line. In FFX, it was gathering the balloons to get more points than your opponent, and then to finish the race ahead of them, as well.Originally Posted by cassiraa

A post a few pages back speculated on color rarity. Speculating that the rarity went from lowest to highest; yellow > green > blue > black > red. This seems like an interesting idea. Perhaps the black chocobo is one of the most rare because it can climb up mountains. Before now the only way to get that super feather thing from Attohwa Chasm minigame was to pos hack up the mountain. Now maybe you can chocobo up it.
Also even if the rarity thing is bogus, the colors still affecting the terrain the chocobo is able to overcome more easily would still make sense. Which would explain why you can get certain colors blended on a chocobo.
