Im sorry I just have to laugh at this. Today after server maitnence this guy (if he is on midgard) was going around TELLING people a link to mr.argus that was on a geocities site. If anyone is looking for an easy acount to steal its probably this guy the GM told me there were over 20 calls about this dude

When I hit 37 NIN , it was NIN37/WAR13.


But when im finished with my merits (on my last STR merit now, just hit my 4th last night), I might level it up. Not sure if I want to do it though, I dont have any room at all unless I mule around, and im the lazy type of person who doesnt like to mule(despite owning 3, time to delete 2 i guess ;p ).

I feel ya. I have a mule I don't use at ALL. I think it has my WHM gear. My WHM is 16 and my main mule has more than enough room. Ironically thats the one named Maxxthepenguin.

But anyways go for a war sub. Its totally worth the leveling time.

What gets me is so many people downloading parsers, fleetool, with no thought on how any of this stuff not being legit and being writen by third parties could fuck them over.

It's just like >.>, if someone really had the time they could have made some major money on people's foolishness.

Because I don't think SE intended EXP to be a pissing contest. Thats just something we came up with.

No MMO games come with parsers, but most of the reason so many accounts get stolen in FFXI is because of how SE deals with 3rd party. If they had embraced 3rd party UI mods such as WoW did, maybe stuff like parsers would be easier to implement (look at WoW damage meters).

well i removed the EXE file and the keys from the regedit... now all i have to do is get my POL account back.. which i cant do til service center is back up at 12 PM EST... where i can report it hacked and get it rolled back to what it was yesterday... hopefully i can get it done.. anyone know where i can find a password generater.. one that would work really good for POL?

Generating a password is very easy. Think of a string of sequence of random letters, numbers, and punctuation marks that's 11 characters long. write it down. Then go through and randomly change some but not all of the letters from lowercase to uppercase, or vice versa. There's your password. Example:

42lsDf@3@pX2

Hard to remember? Too bad Write it on a sticky note and stick it on your monitor. make a text file that contains only the password, then compress that in a zip file with 256 bit encryption using your entire bank account number as the password (because if someone gets your bank account number, you're proper fucked anyway and FFXI is the least of your concerns), then create a GMAIL account with your everyday password and email the zip file to your gmail account so that it won't ever be lost, barring catastrophic failure of the internet.

That being said, I really hope you get your account back and can rebuild your gil and gear, it always hits hard seeing innocent players go down for no good reason.


In the future, whenever you download a program like a parser, windower, anything, turn your firewall on the highest setting (ZoneAlarm works fine), if the program tries to access the internet, tell your firewall to permanently ban it from internet access. There's no reason a parser needs to have access to the internet to parse the chat log.

The parser I am currently writing is written in .NET, and therefore can be easily disassembled to verify that it does not contain any code to access the network or keystrokes. There will be one component of the parser that is not .NET, and for that part I will release source code. Any programmer writing legit things for the game will bend over backwards to prove his software has good intentions, and if you attempt to use software from anyone who doesn't bend over backwards to prove his intentions to you, unfortunately it's at your own risk

Anyway, best of luck getting your account back, I hope the other people in this thread follow through with the threats they've made, and track this guy down and send him where he belongs, I don't care if he's 15 or 50. Felony = Jail.
