For the axe 3 NA's are collecting for stage 5 (fairy, asura, cerberus), assuming arjunna is still doing it. The weapon looks nice, has ok stats, but Onslaught is just another rampage for the most part and it doesn't look like it's modifier is str or dex. The only completed axe is by blackcoffee or something on leviathan and apparently he doesn't use it or wear it much.

Getting to 100tp for a regular refresh that hardly lasts a minute is soo much better than hitting fast and doing lots of spirit takers.

    orly?

Haven't talked with Snarf in a while, but the staff is still worthless in my eyes. The times that I melee with my SMN are when I'm soloing or doing random weak-fun stuff as a group, and Hope staff (double attack for me procs once every 1-3hits) does everything I need it to. DOT isn't too high that I rip hate off my avatars, and I'm able to constantly spirit taker to get MP back.

I think hope and mercurial pole will give you more mp than clau, but clau should do a bit more dmg but not by much. If bst couldn't dual weild there would be no point in me upgrading guttler at all. It's the same reason why GS relic is going to die off soon and I doubt many people will follow through with scythe anymore.

GTK, GA, Dagger, Bow, Gun, and H2H are the real high damage relics (relics that do good damage with relic WS).

Axe, Katana, Sword, Club, Spear, Scythe are just DPS/Utility relics (relics that are nice but for best damage your not going to use the relic WS).

GS, Staff are sorta dead-to-dying relics. (relics that have poor relic WS's and are trivialized by existing items in game)

Horn, Shield are HNM/LS relics. (relics that are upgraded by ls's and are very useful for the entire ls)

1 of the axes will never be finished, Hightone I think is lvl4, and quit and RMT'd his toon, he has 100 goldsmithing and the new owner doesnt even want to upgrade.

Arjuna unfortunately gave up his relic (tossed me 50x 100 byne ontop of my 50 , that's how I finished so fast). So that's another one down. He however didnt even upgrade it to 4.

Lui's toon has a lvl4 weapon, some random JP bst reported to have one, third I dunno.

Btw since all relic weapons are 1 hit despite animation, this could end up being like Calamity >_> a Calamity with a 3.0 instead of the 0.4

and I plan to finish my staff no matter what anyone says; it's something that there are a lot of unanswered questions for (at least on my end) and i'd really like to see them get answered.
Finish it, fuck what people say. If I listened to what 95% of the HNM community told me, I'd have gotten a horn and quit FFXI and played WoW now ;p

Just a note, when you're soloing, expect to rip hate off your avatars anytime 3x procs (unless obviously your avatars do a 1k BP). Randomly i'll hit a 3x dmg proc on a mob and pull hate from it. 3x proc is more frequent in mobs lower level (you'll notice it often on EP's and lower, harder to spot the higher the mob levels).

I'm still interested in effects, you'd be able to confirm everything.

Not telling you not to, just saying hope staff is overall a better melee weapon. (imo)

It's your money, go and do what you want with it. I'm curious too on some of the effects of the weapon that still aren't clean, and it would be neat to see them answered.

72 damage and +20 accuracy on the weapon > hope staff, who cares if it hits once more every now and then, it costs a virtue stone. Inventory is one thing the SMN already does not have

The relic numbers do look pretty high, but considering total number of servers they make sense. Seraph has 6 Lv5s (swd hth gax ktn bow plm) so far and at least as many lv4s, followed by many dozens of Lv3s.

Weird. So do you think SA > Onslaught would work reasonably well? If it does that would be nice since I don't have suppa :/

The three ogre killers then are Keftenk, Lui, Hightone. I'm closing in on 2500 Tuku and have 6000 Byne (had it since may :/), but I won't have my first attestation run til next week or the week after depending how things go. Of course without any hnmls supporting me getting rare/ex quite hard.

That's a real shame about arjunna though, I thought it would be cool if all three of us finished our axes around the same time But Arjunna is an awesome beast with our without it :D.

Yeah because you really want to rip hate off your avatars.

Depends on what you're doing I guess.

Nice, I'll have to pass that info on to Keftenk. He was convinced he was missing swings on Onslaught but the 1-hit nature of it would explain that lol.

He has a pretty detailed post about Ogre Killer and also mentions our LS's other S4 relic, Gae Assail in his Live Journal.

He goes into some detail about the additional properties of Onslaught, I believe attack+ and mob acc-. I'm not sure if he tested at different TP levels so idk if TP adds to duration or attack bonus.

people underestimate the strength of the katana. Additional Effect: Paralysis is almost broken, given how must stronger the Additional Effect procs are than the corresponding BLM or RDM spells, and how often they proc.

I don't underestimate it's strength, I simply never realized that many people and/or LS' had put that much effort into the Katanas, especially compared to the Horns.

What I mean is, everyone always says how the only two useful ones are horn and shield, with horn being the most useful. So everybody forgets about the others, when IMO katana is as powerful or more powerful than horn and shield, and so in my eyes would have more owners.

It really depends how your doing it though. If it's an LS upgrading and sponsoring the whole LS wants something out of it. So your going to get something that helps out a lot at HNMs like a shield or horn. If your paying out of your own pocket for all of it then get whatever the hell you want.

Katana is nice, but it won't help you much at most hnm.

when i was mentally counting off useful Relics. i had a really hard time figuring out whether the Katana or Great Katana would be better.

i haven't heard of any accounts of Kikoku being used to paralyze HNMs as a major part of the strat, although i imagine it could be.

but i doubt people were upgrading the Katana with that purpose in mind, i'd think most of those upgraders simply did it because NIN is their favorite and most used job.

This is basically what my opinion was, and while I realize Nin is popular I just never heard much about Nin's upgrading the Katana and assumed there weren't many.

Relic numbers seem high, until you divide the number of completed relics vs the 500,000 figure that they gave as the total number of active players. (0.004%)
