Fortunately Superman's abilities and powers were cut back substantially with the Crisis on Infinite Earths. Although strong, Superman is probably less than 1/10th as strong as he used to be. In fact, Martian Manhunter is arguably the single most powerful non-god (i.e. not Darksied or the Specter) in the DC universe now and could beat the living crap out of Superman in a fight.

And Marvel sucks. Seriously, with the exception of a few X-Books, it is almost all unreadable with almost no editorial oversight.

the Ultimates is pretty awesome... actually the entire Ultimate marvel line is pretty good. I really like how they tie all the titles together in that universe.

Generally speaking, DC handles company wide crossovers much better than Marvel. Underworld Unleashed, Final Night, and Day of Vengeance were all superb DC crossovers that were heavily driven by their story and had personal relevance to the characters. Onslaught, Maximum Security, House of M, and now Civil War seem to be heavily driven by the editorial staff and hold almost no character development often times getting characters completely wrong. (I.E. Magneto if he is written by anyone other than Chris Clairmont.)

But I will say that I have not been a fan of the last few DC crossovers, Identity Crisis, Countdown to Infinite Crisis, and Infinite Crisis. OK guys we get it, it's a point in a story or drama when a conflict reaches its highest tension and must be resolved. Now instead of beating that word into the ground, break out a thesaurus and try to pick something new to say.

A big complaint I'm having of late with Marvel Crossovers is that for many of them the continuity just isn't adding up. The individual storylines in House of M (referring to the issues outside the main House of M comic) had alot of developments that totally clashed with what was going on in the main storyline.
