That's worked so well with Napolean and Demonhunter in the past, I can't see any way it could possibly fail!

True...but I figure most people who buy gil aren't as soulless as these two.

I disagree. You take a few gil buyers out here and there, and word will spread that "gil buying = potential loss of account." You remove the gil sellers, and they just come back and level new characters, because the demand for gil purchases still exists. When people get it through their thick skulls that all the effort they put into leveling their characters can be wiped for breaking the rules, I get the feeling that the demand for RMT will be reduced by a huge amount.

So yeah, trying to come up with all these fancy solutions to remove all the gil sellers is never going to work. You have to slap the people who give RMT an incentive to exist upside the head. Obviously just stating "it's against the rules" isn't good enough. Put some teeth behind the terms of service, and see what happens.

    I can see it now...

From producer Dick Wolf, creator of Law & Order and Conviction, comes the sixth installment of the blockbuster Law & Order Series. Law & Order RMT Unit. Tuesdays on NBC.

On Vana'diel, Real Money Trade crimes are considered especially heinous. That is why these crimes are investigated by the dedicated team of the RMT Unit. These are their stories.

Dun duuuun du du du du duuuun!

And when they come back, you ban them again. And when they come back again, you ban them again. You don't tend a garden by pulling the weeds once and then letting them take over.

    Fixed.

I don't think it will work. The message, even though it was sent out, has fallen on deaf ears.

They could save time if they also rejected the offender's credit card number...either that, or call the Chinese government and give them the IP address of these guys and tell them they were shouting anti-Communist remarks in the game. :D

Just a friendly reminder: as you're all debating on here about this, you can be spending less time typing in the Suggestions box. Remember, if everyone sends in a mail, SE will read it and they WILL react.

    Now go, my pretties!

i wrote an email for both of my accounts. then promptly cancelled content IDs for both...for some reason i still want to play this game, but i refuse until there is a real effort against RMT, and not some PR stunt or inflation fix so as to not scare their precious new 360 accounts away.

Because monopolization of a mob is not against any rules.

By camping Ulli 24/7, they are doing nothing wrong.

This can be a difficult concept for a lot of people to understand, but there is a difference between breaking the TOS by trading in-game money for real money and merely being an asshat. The people who sit at a camp at all hours of the day are merely being asshats, and complaining to a GM about a gilseller who claimed Ulli is like complaining to a GM about a rival LS that claimed Fafhogg before yours did.

Does this make it alright? No, it still sucks ass. It's their fault for being asshats, and it's S-E's fault for designing the game such that this sort of thing can happen, but what this all comes down to is everybody saying "I want the GMs/S-E to (make change to the game) so that I can get what I want." From their point of view, it's the same as you saying "I want you GMs to enforce a Fafhogg rotation so that all HNMLS on my server get a fair shot at killing him."

Yeah, eventually those people are going to sell the gil they get for real money, but a GM won't witness that kind of thing by standing around in Ru'Avitau all day. Stop bitching to the GMs and start bitching to S-E themselves. It's like chewing out the person taking your order at McDonald's over their menu/corporate policies/etc and expecting anything to come of it. The reason you're seeing no results is not that they don't care, but because they can't fucking do anything about it.

Kinda like a special task force that can intereact with players, and monitor things.

I think i'm fonna suggest that on the feedback.

    Thats great =).

But you gotta admit it would be kewl to see SE employees actually have active characters on a server, running around keeping things in line.

Considering there are so many NM's in ffxi I bet GM's don't have to learn how certain NM's impact the game. Ullikummi > Byakko > Kirin

They prolly just look at it like Phantom Worm

Gil sellers are well known for using pos tools so they're hardly playing by the rules.

The answer to all our RMT and botting problems! Specific GM teams for each server.

Of course that will never happen, but it's a nice thought.

We gotta fight fire with fire... S-E needs a sweatshop of GMs to combat the sweatshop of gilsellers. This is clearly the only way.

Or if maybe accounts could report names of gilsellers through some petition command - - - and obviously when theres like 600 reports of "Killgirl" or "Buterfly" -- they get le pwnt.

but i still wanna see an S-E sweatshop...
