In a game where gear is situational and hardly effects performance, I'd probably take 12% movement to save my ass over just about any other SINGLE item....especially as a mage. Regardless the point was that we kill a specific mob for what they drop, not to sell off their drops for gear.

And Avinor, you make all really good points. I agree with every decision you guys make as an LS as a whole, I just dont agree with the INDIVIDUAL decisions that several of your LS members have made. Like you said, you entrusted your members to make good decisions and for the most part, they did. Doesn't mean those out here have to agree with the ones even you yourself said weren't the best decisions. No we can't do anything about it, nor do we intend to. Doesn't mean we don't care though.

I don't think I've ever heard of gaiters actually making a difference for HNMs. They're awful handy for making airships tho, and mazurka + gaiters makes you run really really fast through Boyahda.

I am hoping that is sarcasm, because Mazurka doesn't work in Boyhada.

I got it, does that mean I read these boards too much?

in other news: can we please get back on topic?...
    please?

Currently viable theories on sealing AV:

    kill jailers while it's up,
    kill wynavs with virtue weapons,
    get it to 95% somehow,
    just wait.

As I understand it, all zones are managed by independent servers, but they could theoretically trigger worldserver-wide events for each other. However, that would also mean that every ix' or tier 1 jailer kill sends a server event just in case AV is up, which would be sloppy at best. But then it's SE, so...

The wynav with virtue weapons worked once for seashell and then didnt work the next time?

Most importantly, while watching people scream at each other over 3-year-old loot is highly amusing, it doesn't get us any closer to solving the mystery.

Kill the Ix NMs to stop those 2hours, and engage AV with jailer weapons to stop the 2hours that the Jailers represent? So you'd have to kill Ix MNK but engage with Prudent rod (I believe that's what Apathy did anyway >_>)

The Dia spam was to keep its attention enough so that it would stick around for a fraction of a second - enough so that it would be delayed again and not start going back home.

This was evident by the fact that one person I spoke to claimed AV for fun while they were trying to kill it, and it turned yellow on him after being red for a fraction of a second, even while this person was on the side of the wall AV could reach. Not sure how they bugged it that way, but any claims they ever made on knowing how to lock its 2hr's and such were and still are complete bullshit.

This LS that killed AV over a week ago though, they know what they're doing.

If you get free nobles/manteels/whatever, you shouldn't get gil too, and you shouldn't get ra/ex over someone who didn't leech off the LS.
Glad to see I'm not the only person who thought this way. Whms getting free nobles tunics and the same share of all gil splits always seemed like grossly unfair double dipping to me.
It a holdback to the days when tunics simply were never sold because once upon a time, they were rare and having one was prestigious. There is also the fact that WHMs have very little to gain in rare/ex equipment from sky, etc. That said, I agree that there is a certain double-standard ... which is why my linkshell pays 75% of the costs to get abjurations uncursed.

I can't say that they've ever really made a significant difference (at least enough to warrant the effort required to obtain them), but they're really nice for sea jailers (any of the ones that you kite around the rooms in the center of the towers), and Kirin (they've kept me alive as a BLM on many occasions).

On a side note, holy crap this thread has derailed (although I'm not really sure that it is all that surprising here).

I watched the entire Apathy AV kill from JoL to death... and I don't remember him being constantly unclaimed. I agree with Wizerd that his hate was bugged, but the unclaimed thing just doesn't ring a bell...

Big video, but shows you the bulk of how the fight went. Looks claimed to me

Same with RDM, but no one would think to buy us a vermy with those d.cloths.

You can say crimson legs, and i'd raise you gaiters.

The chance at gaiters is just a carrot to keep your blms showing up to events that they'll never ever get anything from (lolsky). Same with novio...which is why 8/10 sea sympatherizers are blms.
