Ah, guess I took it out of context. My understanding when he said patch, he meant direct patching of existing monster (e.g. fixing battle related issues, not implementing a said enemy)

He never did say that the team actually beat AV. It's like when somebody asks you a question, but instead of answering you pop off a sarcastic remark. Wasn't there another interview after this and somebody directly asked if the development team had beat it, and the answer was something along the lines of, "Ummm...., we're going back to try again." That kind of implies they weren't successful the first (only?) time.
That page says Sundi is the "Global Online Producer of the Community and Service Division." It sounds like he's just an overglorified PR figure. Can anyone clarity what his role is in FFXI Development? If he is a PR figure, I doubt he knows anything that goes on in the game.Originally Posted by Viq

AV = an aern, and Al'Taieu has DC-T Aern's of ALL 15 jobs, lurking at some area in Al'Taieu. My best ideas conclude 1 of the 3 to happen if they die:
1) Killing the desired job once seals it forever or for a short time, (rekill as needed, or perhaps the reraise nature of those aerns plays a part as well, like killing it twice from reraise may have different effect than killing it and having it not reraise would)
2)They must all be dead all at once(highly unlikely).
3)The bracelets form may enhance or change the 2hr behavior based on which regular aerns you kill/ed.
It doesnt seem SE would make something _that_ difficult, especially since its been staring you in the face the whole time: all 15 jobs of aern are in Al'Taieu. I'm 99% sure if more focused testing regarding this is done, something could be seen.
Whenever I read this thread I think of that Tom Petty song "I wont back down", it makes me giggle.
We actually tried that last night. It Call Wyvern'd shortly after the DRG Ul'Aern was killed.
Pretty sure this is old news, but the only times it didn't Call Wyvern or have insane regen we noticed was when it was claimed. We got it to 92% with a BLM zerg, and it stayed at 92-93% for a few minutes while it slaughtered everyone with hate, but once it went yellow for more than 2-3 seconds it did Call Wyvern, regened back up to 100 and we were back to where we started. We tried to keep it claimed after nuking it, but there was just no way we could do that for more than a few seconds at a time with its speed and spells.

two thing happened immedatly before AV stopped 2hring for us.
a)we killed the millionth set of Wynavs
b) or main pld/nin got permabanned
So I don't know what to tell you.
Seems just like SE. Get one of your most important people permabanned mid fight to win! Gogogo!
He didn't specify exactly whether "that Q&A team" was that group of 18 people only, or if it was the whole 50-60 people.Sundi: We have about 30 or 40 people on a Q&A team to check how strong all the monsters are. We also have an internal dev team Q&A, 18 people, that work for them. Before we release the patch, they test how, they like, actually fight it. They mainly are working for the Battle Team, so I'm sure that there's a way somehow. At least that Q&A team could beat it, right? If they couldn't beat it, we were not going to patch it.
I'm guessing it was the latter, as I don't see how 18 people can kill, say, Vrtra.
Wait he got PERMANENTLY BANNED for using the goblin footprint to hold AV?Originally Posted by XxSlusherxx
kinda, he got to jail, called the GM a fag, and d/c'd himselfOriginally Posted by aurik
They permanently banned him for that? Or unknown? Because even being banned for that is pretty lame.Originally Posted by XxSlusherxx
How'd he use the footprint to hold AV? Just get into the CS with AV smacking him then AV ceased hitting him due to the CS?
That's pretty damned Smart.
