    Virus Protection Suggestions

McAfee started getting gay for me, constantly lagging my computer with it's requests for my to upgrade my trial version to the full version. I uninstalled it today and am wondering what you guys use for free virus protection, or if you know any good virus protection that is free? Please help me out, I'm tired of McAfee.

I have norton fully registered and...and I kind of hate it.

I know there are free antivirus packages out there but I guess I'm a sheep and don't want to be the first guy to find out they don't work as well as they should.

But hey if Microsoft gets its way antivirus software will come with your eventual purchase of Vista so never fear? 'Free' antivirus is coming soon to a desktop near you.

Nod32. Reliable fast not a massive resource hog like Norton/Mcafee. Very reliable. Very user friendly. If you can afford it get it. If you cant afford it and need a freebie then remember you get what you pay for.

A fairy came and installed nod32 for free on my PC. Worked really good for me so far.

AVG virus protection is pretty good and free for non-commerical use.

Problems with Norton, Mcaffe, et al is that they are more damaging to your computers than the worms/trojans/viruses they are supposed to protect you from.

You may have to reinstall windows to get it working the same way again.

AVG is pretty good but it is known to break email on outlook (who the fuck uses outlook anyway?) and I have never heard of a problem with nod32.
