damn right. my hat's off to anyone that did promyvions pre-1st nerf, aka first month of NA release. that shit was hard.
I almost quit the game because of holla. That bc pre-nerf can burn in hell.

Holla was hell, until I realized the best thing a BLM can do is spam Barstona on tanks.

Naja is most likely going to play the same role as Cid did in CoP. i don't think stationary characters you can go right up and talk to at any time can have that great an effect on the overall story.

the key characters either don't have set locations or they are accessed via cutscenes through a door (Prishe) which when convenient to the story can tell you that they're not there.

I'm hoping naja assists in some of the bcnms, she seems like she may be as versatile as prishe as far as a battlefield goes.

I'm starting to think that immortals are going to be a huge part of the story. Almost what the duchy was in CoP, only uh, immortals are hella scarier then wolfgang

All I'm saying is, when they release the expansion for the far east. Those fuckers had better be some baddass mother fuckers with mobs that kill you just by looking at you. Seriously though, we keep hearing about the far east and the unfathomable shit they deal with over there, we "got" the ninja and samurai jobs from there. The npcs there had better be so hardcore, that walking near them would feel like getting drop-kicked in the teeth.

I'm hoping for PvP zones in the Far East expansion. You align yourself with either whatever the Far East is named or Aht Urghan. Also, Tenju.

A faction system would be pretty fun (well atleast in my head). Maybe build upon the fomor hate style system. For example, start with negative faction for for both factions (lets just say Trolls and Lamia). They will both agro you in their respective new "dungeon cities".

If you start hunting Trolls, your faction decreases with them and increases with the Lamias. Eventually the Lamias stop agroing you and kill enough Trolls and the Lamias will start talking to you and giving out unique quests. Vice Versa as well.

As it stands, I'd be happy for one on one arena fights (maybe with NPCs).

The main Fellowship storyline was pretty much the ToAU primer. Two mirrors created in the lands of Aht Urhgan, a Mirror of Blighted Gloom protected by a lineage of immortal guards. The bad guy's casting pose looked suspiciously like Blue Magic.

Which leads me to the question, what the hell has Zoldof been doing since I've landed in Aht Urhgan?

If he's anything like Oldrich, he's rambling to someone about how sweaty his boots get in the desert, or how "mysterious" he thinks he'd look wearing a tunic and Great Sword.

Zoldof thinks that the rent in Windurst Walls must be astronomical and that the shop Mithra in Ru'Lude Gardens keeps her stock fresh.

Zoldof is a bit of a fuddy-duddy, but he's my pal anyway.

I loved the capped areas in CoP a lot...they felt like single player FFs. If you think about it CoP fixes one of the first complaints with FFXI. It didn't have the complete FF feel. If you did CoP missions and weren't grinding them and leechings them, they truly were like FF with friends.

I actually liked the level capped areas in CoP as well. It was a great idea in theory, you could do missions with friends that weren't 75 without having them along as leeches. The gear issue really sucked though. I keep most sets of the nonhq armor in my storage npc but most of them suck. If it wasn't for the xp loss I would tag along with random people to replay some of the BC's (cept you snoll, you can go die).

The problem with level capped zones is that it makes it challenging for the mission, but it makes the zone useless to do anything else in it as well. Now, beastmasters might be inclined to use this zone to level, so let's throw in some CoP Brand Truesight™ mobs and make it completely useless.

So now we have a bunch of useless level capped zones that are empty when people are not doing missions, this makes me feel sad. What can we do to put some bodies in them? Let's put quests and pop NMs in these zones. But not just any pop NMs, but some CoP Brand Non-100%-Drop-Rate© Notorious Monsters. (There is nothing more beautiful in this world than getting skunked 8 times on fomor codexes.)

Best of all, we can throw in two grand wyrm confrontations in the level capped zones so that if people get kicked without getting a raise or having reraise II they have to eat raise 1.

Boy I love level capped zones.

Don't forget the fact that despite earning full limit points in these zones, you can't even use your job-specific merits. Good fucking game CoP.

True in a way for xp party. But other than a few obvious map, I think I spent more than in riverne than anywhere else. Farming Headfeather was lucrative, and NM like boroka are good money. Not to mention the weekly scroll/ENM/mammet rematch. There is many empty map in this game, and it's not limited to CoP

Swift belt might be a bitch to camp, but I would rather to do than camp arthos for 2 months. Can usually get a 3-4k xp per hour, while farming subbligar and swift belt. It's better than xp at ulli nowaday.

There's no rule that you have to use each and every zone in the game for leveling. I mean, you might as well complain that certain BCNMs are only used for a handful of missions, and nothing else. Why, no BCNMs or ENMs? Wasted potential!

The zones were simply there for the mission's sake, to create a challenge. Without the caps and without the True Sight mobs you would have had the same challenges you've had through all of FF XI up to that point - basically missions that could be powerleveled through or snuck through with Sneak/Invis. The missions were never scaled, and S-E wanted to make sure that new and old players were challenged by CoP, and equally.

The quests were thrown in there later to get a little extra use out of the zones, sure, but I've never understood this notion that a zone is only good if you can level in it and travel through it easily. Just think of the level capped zones as extended BCNMs, created solely for the mission.

Along a similar thought process, I will say that I've been hoping S-E will recycle Assault maps for missions/quests in the future. Pretty much the same idea there, only now it's an isolated BCNM rather than a public access area.

Isn't there one Assault where you clear out skeletons where half the map is blocked by locked doors? I never looked into that one too much to see if there was a way past those doors, but I also remember someone saying the second Mamook Assault seems to have an extra tunnel with nothing in it, too, right? Seems to me these maps may be used for other purposes later, but just a theory.
