Ah, but if you've ever actually done Eco Warrior or that "All By Myself" quest, you know it's entirely possible for high level buddies to tag along and just wipe the area clear. To say that uncapped people can't fight monsters... Decent enough idea, but you know people would still bitch that you can't farm there on your high level jobs after you've completed the mission, too.

If you think about it, Assault is basically the same thing, only it's not public access this time. There's 60 singular-purpose maps in the game with Assault, where all they're good for are the missions themselves - that's what the zones were made for. The level capped areas for CoP are the same thing, only instead of it being restricted to one party, it's open to the public - tailored specifically to make the mission harder.

Basically CoP had two kinds of zones - exp. areas like Bibiki, and mission-tailored zones like Sacrarium. ToAU is using the same principles, it seems, but this time they've restricted the mission zones to BCNM access only.
And the reason I specified that people without the level cap cannot fight mobs was to prevent the argument that the missions could be made to be less horrible because someone could clear the mobs out first. Some people would complain about not being able to farm, but I think the vast majority would be so giddy that they could go without being capped that they would wet themselves with glee.

I am looking at CoP from the perspective of someone who has cleared it and as someone who just created a second character that he wants to take to 75. The guy who cleared CoP is just happy that the pain is over; the guy who created the character knows the pain that would be caused by CoP and wants to curl up in the fetal position. It is hard enough to get people to help with missions like 2-3 where it is one level capped instance, I could not imagine trying to get help entering the gates of hell from start to finish. Atumre will probably have sky over the course of a weekend; he will probably never have sea because it is seriously just not worth it.

It's not like you need perfect gear for those mission. I usually just buy body/legs/feet/head for ~50k and get ride of it as soon the mission end undercutting it on AH or selling it to vendor.

I often reuse capped BCNM/ENM gear to fill certain slot, and stuff like RSE or AF do the job pretty well most of the time.

Come on, they arent that hard to avoid. >_> You dont need sneak/invi for 9/10th of the game when you're careful.
Same thing with Taurus in phomunia. People always cry about them, but you can easily reach the minotaure solo without aggroing anything (it's much faster than bringing the whole alliance too)

Apparently you've never seen an update news post here (or more specifically, a post from FFXIFlux). People in this game like to bitch, and it's just never enough. I will agree that I think your idea is decent enough - doesn't solve the farming issue, but it does solve the issue of traveling. And because it's a good idea, it obviously will never be implemented either, right?

For me, it was not so much gear as relying on the other pickup players for the mission. CoP showed me several times that you often have to compensate for other players.

I'm actually leveling my Galka cooking mule that is on a second account. Been too busy making gil for relic to really level it though, I have unlocked ranger and am trying to unlock corsair. I figure that corsair would break most of the BC's so it shouldn't be too bad to get him limbus access.

Of course there will always be people who whine for the sake of whining. I am sure even if Square announced that after the next update your mog house will feature scantily clad servants of whatever race, gender, and face type that you choose who will feed you grapes and dance on command that Flux could still figure out a way to unleash a great red flood that could fill all of the gorges in La Thein Plateau.

People like to complain. I love to complain, but I try to be funny or constructive about it. You cannot please everyone, but that is no excuse for not trying.

I was actually more fond of the types who lost millions of times on Promyvion and such, and still refused to farm up anima. I know, I know... You look "less skilled" when you beat BCNMs with anima and such, but you know what? You've lost half a dozen times already without anima, so I think it's pretty safe to say you're not as good as you think. Accept your mediocrity and move on.

I was always the type who said "Why make this more difficult than it needs to be?" and farmed the anima and such for the fights. Always be prepared, you know?

However, I find it mandatory for those items to be farmed if someone comes to me with a random jumble of friends and LS members, especially if they have a history of losses on the fight.

agreed, I farm now without question, but before then we would have always gone in with 3 anima each and leave with 3 anima each, prenerf rng vs those bosses made the fight a joke, could kill it with a barrage and EES at 50% from all 3

I think in that case a quick" Zordon called, Rita Repulsa sent a monster to destroy the city. (Good bye!) " is in order.

It's true you have to compensate for them more often than not sadly. However, it's your skill (and medecine sometime) that will make up for this more than gear.

Every BC before Ultima can be simplified to a strategy that any retard could execute without a chance to screw up. Most of those strats have high success rate with or without 2 hours (excluding bomb I guess).

For 5k-10k on a AH, you can get some decent def in case you pull hate. If people arent able to afford that, they shouldnt even try doing mission.

Like when one of our BLMs casted Freeze on Snoll Tzar after we just got done saying to use Fire?

I don't know about you, but the promys and mammets were really tough for me, yet everyone makes it sound so easy. For one, the MRs on their own were difficult enough with all the strays at the upper levels, you had to have enough firepower to keep them down while still hurting the MR, and then with the portal only open for 30 seconds, you'd better hope no one died or d/c. The bosses themselves were another matter.

The mammets took me a few tries, as well, and we were all geared with meds.

I think you brand yourself a fanboy and as completely unobjective as possible if you're on the side that thinks it's perfectly appropriate for SE to take 12+ months AFTER IT WAS RELEASED in order to finish the expansion. This is not behaviour appropriate for a multi-million dollar company and yes it is biting them in the ass as I see subscriber numbers falling yet again. I would not be surprised if FFXI starts having server merges before ToA is actually "complete." I know I'm spending more time posting on this board than doing anything in FFXI since ToA has so far added nothing for me TO do. I leveled BLU to 75 out of boredom and the first half of that was in old zones I've leveled in several times already.

Yes, they've announced a bunch of nice things for the 3 month after release patch. A bunch of things that should have been in from the start, and which aren't even going to add a significant amount of gameplay experience. A fanboy drools over chocobo raising, a realist knows that logging in for 30 seconds every few days to turn your chocobo egg is not a signficant addition. A fanboy applauds 10 more storage spots, a realist knows that it's just a number in a database that takes them minutes to alter and is about as smoke and air of an addition as can be possible to make. An addition to the storyline which we know from posted timeline is only the first of 3 or more and which won't even keep us playing for 3 days let alone the 3 months to the next patch.

Well there you go. Start posting your retarded ad hominem because you know for a fact you can't fucking argue against that. Even the blindest fanboy isn't stupid enough to think that what we've gotten from ToA so far is keeping them busy with new things to do or that changing a storage number from 50 to 60 actually requires 3 months of effort on their part.
