Supposedly to get the Rafflesia Nectar again you need to kill the 3 Leeches in Korroloka Tunnel. The theory I read was 1 leech killed = nectar from one flower (meaning, if you kill all 3, you can check all 3 flowers again for nectar). Never attempted this myself, but I do recall several people stating it worked.

It's a prerequisite quest for the Opo-opo Crown. Since the nectars you recieve don't have a purpose (that anyone's discovered) the hope is that they can be used for the Wolfman.

The concern is that there are only so many people that haven't completed the Opo-opo Crown Quest and can, therefore, get these R/Ex nectars to use as a pop item. Limited resource indeed.

The 3 Leeches in K.Tunnel (Jammer Leeches) are used in a different Khazam quest.

Hm, Kazham fame = Windy fame, right?

My friend hasn't done this quest yet, but lacks the fame. Gonna see if I can get him to raise it and then do this quest so we can test it out.

On the plus side, if 1 nectar pops Wolfman (although I don't think chances of this item working are high,) there should be enough nectar to go around for most people, since you get 3 from the quest. If your LS has 2-3 people who have never done Opo-quest (pretty high chances,) problem of low-availability is solved.

When you complete the quest, the RDM guy NPC tells you, you can sell the Nectars for a good piece at the corner shop.

And this is what the Nectars are for: get 10'000g. Remember this quest was introduced (from the start of FFXI?) when you were rich with 10k gil.

Yes, and if you continue on with quests after, you need to wash off the "scent" in the leech room in Korroloka tunnel.

You need to complete personal hygiene first to repeat it.

    As per Tordall on Alexander:
they can be NPCed for about 3k each. If you do the removing the stench quest you can get another 3, NPC those, repeat (10k an hour isn't what it used to be though, and I'm not regularly moving through yuhunta and kor. tunnel).
http://ffxi.allakhazam.com/db/jobs.html ... 1355843244 yeah yeah it's alla, but that's where I had seen this posted- Tordall is a reputable poster.

My guess is no one bothers trying to get them again because there is no need for them- hence why almost no one knows this is able to be done.

I am somewhat skeptical of Goblin Drink being the pop item for Goblin Wolfman. Some of these reasons have been discussed but my primary reason is that it doesn't seem to fit with the other NM's that are forced popped that came in the June-August 2005 update.

A list of the Pop items used to pop NM's from this update.

    Found (from ???):
    Shield Bug

    Dropped:
    Air Tank
    Clustered tar
    Fomor Codex
    Fresh Blood

    Crafted:
    Slice of Carp

    Items:
    San d'Orian carrot
    Distilled water
    Sleepshroom
    Danceshroom
    Woozyshroom
    Honey
    Pamamas

    Crafted (requiring significant skill):
    Antlion Trap
    Shrimp Lantern
    Adamantoise Soup
    Premium Bag

For the regular NM's it's important to not that either the pop item is unique to this CoP update, or its a simple item that is easy to obtain -- including the slice of carp.

For the NM's that require specially crafted pop items, they require significant crafting skills and some effort is required to obtain the ingredients. When these items are used, they generate a special message signifying that the NM has popped. The following are taken out of the dialogue files for their corresponding zone. The regular NM's do not have this kind of dialogue.

    PREMIUM BAG

    ANTLION TRAP
    DialogTableEntry 00294 You set the ≺Marker: 7F8101≻≺Marker: 7F8201≻≺Item
Parameter 0≻. The acidic smell of antlion wafts through the air.
Suddenly, a sharp clang rings through the air! You have caught something!≺Marker: 7F3100≻

    ADAMANTOISE SOUP
    DialogTableEntry 00792 You set ≺Marker: 7F8201≻≺Marker: 7F8103≻≺Item Parameter 0≻
on the ground. The smell becomes almost unbearable.

There is no dialogue for Goblin Wolfman which follows this pattern. The dialogue is in line with a simple forced pop. We should expect that the item is a simple and mundane item which simply hasn't been considered yet.

It has been mentioned that time parameters may or may not be significant. Other forced pop NM's which are time sensitive indicate that they are time sensitive by some means or another. It is possible that the NM is time sensitive and the scrawled writing is always visible.

The fact he is called Goblin Wolfman may suggest he may follow the pattern of a werewolf. The other Goblins, Moblins, and Bugbears in the zone have titles that follow this "man" tradition but don't seem to indicate their job. The .dat file for the mobs in the zone do not indicate he has a pet so we can be sure he isn't a BST, DRG, or SMN (Pre-ToAU so definately not PUP). Perhaps everyone should make an effort to retry items during a full moon to ensure that this possibility is eliminated or confirmed.

Lately I have been working with ideas which might go with the "Scrawled Writing" or "Me Thirsty" clues. Why is he thirsty? Is it because he can't drink? Is it because he has no access to drink? Is it because he ate salty food? What might help him drink? Maybe he wants to be thirsty. Perhaps its a clue he will come out when he is given a reason to be thirsty. Perhaps giving him something to make him thirsty will make him angry enough to show up. Whatever it is I believe it needs to be a simple item that anyone has reasonable access too. Perhaps he wants a bretzel (I haven't tried that one yet but is bought cheaply from NPCs in 2nd+ place Bastok).
Actually, there is one line in the Oldton dialogue no one has seen yet, it says: "You feel a chill down your spine!"

As for the full moon thing, everyone doubts it since the ???s for all popped NMs besides quests don't appear unless their time flag (new/full moon for example) is up.

EDIT: I also doubt the Goblin Wolfman is a werewolf, I don't know but my guess is it's like the NM Giant in Delkfutt's Tower where it can charm you.

EDIT 2: Maybe you are right about you don't use a drink, maybe if you trade 8 stacks of rock salt he'll spawn. If I was thirsty and someone gave that much salt to me I'd want to kick their ass >.>

    Another dumb idea.

Since the gorget can only be equiped by DRK and PLD maybe it's an item that only DRK and PLD can use, I have a few other ideas for pop items I'll try out later tonight.

I remember someone posting a picture of a guy with the Parade Gorget, but didnt want to say how he got it.

No mention of it in OP, so what happened to it? Was it fake or something?

The JPs with it on Ifrit act stupid when questioned about it. One of them says Fall told him to zone and come lot on it. And when people try to ask Fall he says he knows nothing.

So far, I can't think of any NMs that pop because you give it something it hates. Kurrea pops because it likes the soup, Shen pops because its attracted by the shrimp lantern, Hercules Beetle pops because it likes the honey, Alastor/Executioner pops because something in the trap attracted it, Swift Belt fomor pops because it enjoys reading about history from books that their buddy stegotaurs carry around, Goblin Collector pops because it is interested in the premium bag, etc.

In each case, we pretty much bait them into coming out, and while they're happily indulging themselves in our offerings, we attack them for no reason other than because we're lootwhores.

I was just thinking, and probably the fortune teller quest having goblin drink is impossible... all it gives is HQ food and there isn't really an HQ for goblin drink... so must find another alternative!

Have the pop items of any NM been figured out just by the name of the NM? Since I get sick of people saying the goblin wolfman is a werewolf and uses blood to pop it just because of it's name.

As opposed to the other brilliant deductions that have worked? At this point having someone test anything and having it checked off is progress.
