What ever came of the idea with the Luck Runes? Did anyone ever try to get a complete list of food rewards from all 3 zones?
No, it's not possible for them to be at luck rune NPCs... it only gives HQ food
So...
Ravin Raven = Goblin Wolfman v2?
the most depressing thing of all is that the above scenario probably makes the most sense out of everything postedOriginally Posted by Rocl
k, so other day I was making fun of Ingram at Fafnir camp and he mentioned the Goblin Drink. He said, "Look, I'm sorry man but I just bought the Goblin Drink out of some random guys bazaar".
Take it how you want, but I never mentioned the drink to him and I'm doubting he has seen these threads. Someone else also said that he would try to get them a Drink. So I'm thinking it's the drink. Just wish we had a clue how to synth it.

Anyone ever figured if clamming had any use. I tried again last week and got raped by the black mandragora a few time. Is it possible to get anything else from it?
Uh, I've clammed a couple times, never got anything useful. Do you mean the black mandys on purgonogogogogo isle? Were you on a low level job? I'm confused.Originally Posted by Kaylia

I mean...it is profit but good god you could farm lvl 7 crawlers in saruta for like 80 times the gil/hour you would average while clamming.
And yes, I did have the HQ swimsuit.
When you reach level 4 bucket, you get an animation showing a black mandragora jumping in your bucket and breaking it. I can't avoid it even with swimsuitOriginally Posted by Shuemue
Wow that sounds amusing/irritating. Clamming was so boring I didn't last long.
I almost feel as if I'm wasting my time in contributing to this never-ending Gorget riddle, and there may be little to no validity to my realization to begin with; however:
Dictionary.com --
wolfman - n. a monster able to change appearance from human to wolf
A werewolf, in other words. Being a Goblin Wolfman, this essentially makes it a Goblin that changes between a Goblin and a Wolf, right?
In typical werewolf-esque stories, it occurs on a full moon.
The Goblin Drink theory, in my opinion, is a fruitless effort to discover an item that exists only in the Hostel -- an item, the existence of which outside said Hostel, is perpetuated only in stories from JPs who would more than happily lead us down a stray path to take us further and further from the truth about the Parade Gorget.
Granted, if someone discovers that the Goblin Drink can be crafted, bought, or obtained from an NPC, I will regret this post, but at the moment, that doesn't seem likely.
Now, since we have nothing to support the idea that there is a Goblin Drink, besides the meaningless words of elitist JP players, nor for that matter, anything to suggest that this item would even pop the Goblin Wolfman, it seems logical to return to theories which revolve around things such as the NM's name.
Now, it may be a bit much to ask, but could everyone please list the items that they've tried trading to the Scrawled Writings during a full moon? If not, then I'll simply have to start from scratch and begin with Movapolos water and work my way down the list during a full moon.
Everything in the Hostel, is in the game outside it as well. Why would they add an item for sole use in the hostel? It does nothing amazing in there to warrant that being it's only purpose.
If you could only pop this NM on a full moon, then why does the scrawled writing appear all the time? Shouldn't it be more like White Coney/Black Coney then, where the trade target is only up when it can be popped?
I guess there's that quest NM in Misareaux by the Leshy that will only spawn in fog weather, yet the ??? is up all the time. Was that quest added at the same time as Moblin Wolfman?
Well, here's my thoughts on the drink. They may even be a bit farfetched, but I see it as being possible.
First off, the name is called a Goblin Drink; however, when you use it, it gives you the symbol of a food effect. Second, the item does nothing to warrant that it was even meant to be introduced as a consumable item in the first place. As far as I'm concerned, this is an SE mistake, at the same calibur as the NPC at the Windurst Walls AH that was speaking Japanese for about two weeks.
So, SE made a mistake and didn't make the Goblin Drink do anything when consumed. Doesn't change that it could still be used to pop the wolfman.Originally Posted by Merryck
The idea that the Goblin Drink might be used to pop the Wolfman stems entirely from the fact that it has the word "Goblin" in the name, correct?
Somehow, I find it hard to believe that this recipe has evaded everyone except a few JPs for the duration of a year. Granted, someone brought up the subject of the Boiled Tuna Head, I believe it was called. Although it seems outrageous, I think they said that recipe evaded the Vana'diel populus for three years or so?
However, the Boiled Tuna Head has an effect. It changes stats, and if I'm not mistaken, the recipe is given out by the Culinary Guild with the new recipe system. This Goblin Drink has been a speculative item for popping a Goblin Wolfman NM (the corrolation between the two being nothing more than the word Goblin) for this long -- JP's have even perpetuated the idea, stating that they made it, or they got it from this or that person -- and yet no one knows a single ingredient that goes into the making of the item.
To me, the Luck Runes idea seems more tangible now than this may-exist item of unknown and impossible-to-determine origins. I just think it's time we looked a different way.
I'm not saying to totally abandon the Goblin Drink, but I think about half of this thread is now a culmination of ideas that revolve around the idea that the Goblin Drink does exist. It might be time to step back from that line of thought and start focusing on what we might've missed from earlier ideas, or coming up with something entirely new, though that seems almost impossible.
Sleepga II mob is another example of a pop nm that is dependent on moon phases, yet its ??? is always up.Originally Posted by inafume
Actually, it has been mentioned by 2 people on Ifrit in relation to how the got their Parade Gorgets. That's why it is belived to be the item. 2 seperate people. Now, they didn't have one on them and used the phrase <Goblin><drinks>. That's why it's the main topic. Also, it hasn't eluded all the JP, they just are not willing to share the recipe like normal.Originally Posted by Merryck
