Sleeping through a college class on earth science doesn't make you smart. Really 5 seconds of Wikipedia research doesn't make you smart either, but it does allow you to own people on the internet. Go look up the word "theory" for kicks sometime.

Also when I was in high school, "Earth Science" was the class for kids that weren't "ready" for freshman biology, or wanted an easy A. Doesn't have much to do with anything, just made me kind of chuckle inside.

Um.... X Axis shows *thousands* of years ago and considering when you look at the earth on a time scale of it being around for Billions of years, a thousand years is not a big number at all.

Are you fucking joking? I mean honestly look at that insert about the industrial revolution and TELL me that this wasn't done in paint on someone's computer. Jesus christ, look at the scribbles at the end of the Reconstructed Temperature graph... this is utter bullshit. And what the fuck? Ice Age Cycles? Ice age cycles aren't caused by rapid change in temperature, over a short period of time... it's caused by a huge, slow change in temperature... both of those are completely bullshit.

I honestly don't know what to say to that. It seems you've already made up your mind about... whatever it is you've made up your mind about. I encourage you, though, to look up the information yourself if you don't believe its credibility.

Also, I wouldn't let one or two college level science classes get to your head. It's really not that impressive.

This isn't about BELIEVING or fucking religous-esque faith in believing one thing, it's about solid fact... the solid fact is what the World Forum of Smart People say bout Climate Changes and global warming... and we -still- don't have enough co2 in the air... Yes, it destroys ozone, but it feeds plants that create oxygen... and oxygen act as a buffer, if not as good as ozone, against UV; we can't replace those "holes" but we can plug em with tissue.

I agree with a statement that my one planetary science teacher once made in class. "Even if we are not causing global warming and even if global warming is not real, can anyone say that it is a bad thing to reduce pollution and other emissions? The worse thing case scenario is that it will cost us a little more money now, but if global warming is real and starts to get to dangerous levels the government has plans to deal with it and it will cost a lot more than you can imagine."

I am not a tree hugger, but that really stuck with me. How can people argue that cars that burn less fuel and put out fewer emissions are horrible?

I kind of agree with you, HOWEVER. The Kyoto protocol is a money sink, it will end up costing trillions of dollars and in the end will change global temperatures by 0.05C, I think that's what they are aiming for, correct me if I'm wrong.

Is that a bad thing? Well obviously not, but why not make a quick list of what a few trillion dollars could do otherwise?

The biggest problem with America right now is the lack of nuclear power. People want hydrogen cars yet they don't even realize that hydrogen gas - right now - would be created by using power from gas/coal/electric plants, giving off even more pollution then cars do now! (making hydrogen gas requires a little more energy then it gives off) So we have people absolutely terrified of the cleanest source of big energy and these same people are terrified of global warming. Either they go Amish or they need to read a book.

As for temperature trends, look up the Holocene optimum. Explain what was causing global warming 8-10 thousand years ago and maybe we'll get somewhere. Fact is that right now we're nowhere close the temperatures of Earth millions of years ago (check the Eocene period) and guess what? Mammals (like us lol!) survived and thrived.

Pumping CO2 that, by the way, was once a part of the carbon cycle anyways, is not the big problems we face. The big problems are deforestation, crummy city design (look up city ambient temperatures), and the fear of change.
