If you kill the monsters in the order you encounter them, you'll kill off half of each pair first, so yes, the other three will be buffed.
We killed in order: dragon, weapon, pot, skeleton, ahriman, ghost. The skeleton, ahriman and ghost each used a "2h animation" and was noticeably harder, and the dragon weapon and pot did not.

If the "pairs" thing was true:
    - the pot should have used a 2h animation
    - the skeleton should not have used a 2h animation

Er...according to the wiki (and my experiences), the pairs are:

    ghost + pot
    skele + weapon
    dragon + ahriman

So yes, you did kill half of each pair first.

    Hmm, I thought the pairing was ghost+skeleton (undead), pot+weapon (arcana), dragon+ahriman (demon/dragon).

It's as Bakthi explained it I think - the oldWiki account of this is pretty accurate.

It could have been changed but it was like this the last time 5+ times I did this zone.

Basically, they're matched up by map location, not (necessarily) monster type. Although I suppose you do have two "opposing" types (monster correlation chart-wise) in each pair...but since there are two arcana/undead pairs, that's not enough of a classification.

    Apollyon SW:

The mimics on 3F are not sleepable by BLM or RDM sleep - only BRD lullaby works. I tried soloing this route with a BRD and NIN helper today just watching and running in if the mimc could not be slept. I soloed everything else basically with ease (1F, 2F, and 4F trigger mobs).

I think this zone is definitely doable by BLM and BRD at this point.

Triod as BRD BLM COR, was a joke, definitly believe that BRD/BLM can duo this without a hitch. How much were your nukes doing damage wise and % wise on the mimics? I remember 625ish average for AMII, and and about 520 for Tier IVs. Didn't pay attention % wise. It took me 6 nukes to kill each mimic (BRD tried to open one near the portal and sleep it before I said it'd draw him in.) How hard do the mimics hit without stoneskin up? Both times I got hit was 0, but it seems plausible that Manafont can take it down.

Yeah, its by map location, not by mob type (could be oppositions because its undead/arcane and demon/dragon). They are significantly harder once the other in the pair is dead.

Aurik you said that you saw two-hour animations? I have never seen any of the mobs use a two-hour animation but we have always tried to do this by pulling one taking it to 5%, sleeping it, pulling the other and taking it to 5% then killing them either with a -ga or about the same time with melee. So maybe they did not have time to use it.

It has quite a bit of HP if you're considering just out-nuking it before it kills you. I think it would take about 15-16% off each strong nuke. Would probably be possible if ES sleep worked - I could see getting it to 50% through a gank, but not 100%.

What sub did you use? I wonder if slowing it would do anything /nin, I went last night so it'll have to wait a couple days to try it. Might even give it a shot on rdm, meleeing it down might be an option with dots? Feedback appreciated!

I always use /RDM for hard solos. I personally don't see BLM being able to kill the 3F mimic. It doesn' thit particular hard, but still - it has a good deal of HP. Unless you were able to find some way to not have it constantly draw you it, it will kill you before you kill it.

I think a RDM may have a better shot at soloing this with Medications. The zone is quite easy aside from 3F.

    Re: Low number Limbus

Instead of making a new post, since it's in the same vein as this topic.

Just decided to do Limbus with some friends, since most of us don't have schedules that allow us to join larger LS's.

    Any beginner tips on Limbus?

We all have a decent amount of low-number Sky and Dynamis experience, and we've done some KS99s, things of that nature.

Attendance will probably range in the 10-15 range, and obviously we're just gonna farm for awhile, try to work our way up to doing O/U.
We have a pretty broad range of jobs, but we lack BLMs, would have 2-3 at most, although a few people are leveling it for the future.

I've read as much as I can to prepare, and I feel pretty confident that we'll be fine, but any newbie advice regarding needed meds, things to look out for first time in that can cause an easy wipe, etc? I'm assuming we treat it like a mini-Dynamis situation, is this way off bat?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well I'm in a similiar situation as you are. I can't make my hnmls's limbus runs due to shitty times. So a group of close friends and I do it 2x weekly.

We just did our first Omega last week with 9 + 1 2-boxed whm. Since we were low numbers and only I had prior experience on Omega, we used 2x smn for primary dd, along with a blm and a sam/thf. If you control it's tp, it's incredibly easy. 2x nin tanks using staves and not engaging until the 25% zerg. Even with a screw up during the zerg portion of the fight, we still won comfortably.

I don't think only having 2-3 blm's will be a huge issue for you. We only have 2 full time blm's and one of them is our main brd. The only farming area where blm is required is Ap NW. We just do this as 2x blm 1x rdm and have our remaining 4-5 people farm another area for more coins and af. Blm's are nice for Omega and Ultima, but not entirely necessary, especially if you have a couple smn's like we do to combat both bosses magic and physical damage stages.

My groups attendance numbers range from 3-8 at the moment and we have access to a whm mule and a blm friend who will help on bosses. I fully expect to be able to beat Ultima with this group as well. We are also helping a different friend go through CoP atm, so that could add a blm/rdm/nin/war/sam to the group hopefully soon.

One of the best things about having 6 or 7 farming on average is the amount of coins per person. We can get anywhere from 35 on Ap SW to 100+ during a Temenos W + Ap NW run. We normally average over 6 coins a person per run, with a lot of runs being higher. Also item upgrade wait times are fairly low depending on what drops.

No meds should be needed with 10-15, pretty much ever. Things that can cause a wipe include blood aggro on Ap NW and Ap SW first floors....melee burning the tree boss on second floor Ap SW (bring a blm), killing the mobs out of order on Tem Central 1st floor, not posistioning mages properly up ramps for astral flow, and just plain fucking up on Ultima/Omega. I'm sure there is other situations, but if your friends are half competent and have workable gear for their jobs, you will be fine. Another first time bit of advice is to make sure you know what is needed for the limbus area you are doing and that you are vocal in letting the rest know what is needed from them.

Also, just read the otherWiki. I used it heavily at the beginning to ensure that I knew what was going on. The key to Limbus is staying on schedule and knowing what to do in the zones.

Then, once you are experienced, I'd recommend this thread or Kaeko's LJ for low-man strategies... very helpful stuff.

My group isn't optimal from a job distribution standpoint, but we can do most zones (Apollyon at least) with 8 or 9 and some with even less.

    Re: Low number Limbus

Soloed and won Apollyon NE on BLM/RDM today (not surprisingly, about 3 hours after finishing the new gobbiebag quests). Main blogger post is here...

    http://kanican.livejournal.com/15053.html

I went ahead and just summarized the key points which are actually useful for groups trying to low man here.

    1F
    Goobbue Farmer - 11,000 HP
    - 100% Paralyze Proc on Normal Attack
    - Outruns a Gaiters BLM
    - Bind and Gravity only - no sleep
    - Will not link other Mandies
    White Mandragora - 8,000 HP
    - 75% Magic Damage only (25% Resist)
    - Runs at same speed as Gaiters BLM
    - Sleep, Bind, Gravity all work
    Black Mandragora - 6,000 HP
    - Normal Resistances
    - Runs at same speed as Gaiters BLM
    - Sleep, Bind, Gravity all work

One of these pops the item chest, 1 opens vortex, 1 does nothing.

    2F
    Thaizi/Biolazer - 10,000 HP
    - Both types are the exact same as far as I can tell
    - Runs at flee speed - think Apollyon NW Behemoths
    - Uses BRD songs - Massacre Elegy (100% Slow), Finale, Horde Lullaby
    - Bind and Gravity work. Sleep does not. Silence works.
    - Will not link the smaller birds

One of the 4 of these opens vortex, other 3 are duds.

    3F
    Apollyon Sweeper - 10,000 HP
    - Strong to Ice Magic, but Bind still lands decently
    - Bind and Gravity only, no sleep
    - Runs at normal speed
    - Will not link other pots in the area

If there are multiples, 1 opens vortex. If you go with 6 players or less, there is only 1 of these and it has to pop the vortex 100%.

    4F
    Okeanos/Cronos/Hyperion - ~6,800 HP
    - Strong to Thunder Magic
    - 75% Magic Damage (25% Magic Resistance)
    - Bind and Gravity work, Sleep does not
    - Okeanos is bigger than the other 2, but it doesn't signify anything
    - Okeanos (ranged attack immune)
    - Cronos (melee immune)
    - Hyperion (magic immune) - DoTs still work fully
    - Will link to other Gigas but not monkeys

One of the 3 gigas will pop the vortex. Even though Okeanos is bigger than the others, it doesn't mean it pops the vortex or anything like that.

    5F
    Troglodyte Dhalmel - 7,200 HP
    - Sleep, Bind, and Gravity all work well
    - Will link to each other

The chest pops after killing all 8 on the 5th floor. The manticores do not have to be killed. You can avoid them on the way to the chest by hugging the left wall.

    Hope this helps!

Cronos can be slept, I had our vanilla rdm try last night and he did it without a problem. I can't say for the others, didn't test. I'd imagine they can be.

Orz I've never actually tried to sleep Gigas; I just figured you couldn't. If you can that makes 2 of the 3 really easy.
