Ive watched soccer, and ive even played it when I was in grade school (that can totally compair with pro) and I hated it. I can watch hours of Golf and find more amusment.

And yeah, Football games that are televised do have extra breaks, but ones that arnt shown on TV are played normally.

This may be an eastern side of the US thing, but I dont recall ever seeing a pro soccer court or game ever. Or wait.. is there even such a thing as pro soccer? Aside from the world cup, is soccer even played? I dont recall any state teams that play for any cool trophy or anything. Ive seen a few highschool and college teams, but lol, thats exciting as running track.. damn, thats all soccer is too track runners who are good at hackysack.

I remeber a kid in my highschool class say he wanted to be a pro soccer player, he got lol'd at. I dunno maybe you live in a special area, (mexico?) where all thats on the tv and radio is soccer, but here in the US things that sell are baseball and football. The only time ive ever heard an american sports announcer say 'GOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAL' was to make fun of soccer.

Excuse me while I go watch another sport thats more popular than soccer, could it be.. bowling, or nascar, or what about figure skating?

Lol at your mind being restricted to grasping only what's going on in the U.S. Basicly in every other continent on the earth football (yes it's called football everywhere but the U.S) is the most popular sport with a few exceptions here and there. The fact that you seriously question if there is such a thing a professional football shows ignorant you are to what's going on outside of your own country. Football is by far the most played sport around the world.

I have in fact played american football myself and I find it fun, but watching games on TV can become very tiresome and boring with commercial breaks every five minutes and the fact that they stop playing every 10 secs, talk strategy for 1-2 minutes then plays for 10 secs again.

But seriously, you need to enlighten yourself on the subject before trying to make real football seem like some crappy sport no one plays.

If there was a poll takin in the US on which sports are most enjoyed, soccer would propably be close to the bottom. Well here in the USA, real football is played more than soccer, as ive said, you hardly see anyone on a soccer team outside of highschool.

If I were to talk about soccer in other countries, that would be diffrent.

guess what, american football (not real football) is the most commercialized oversensationalized sport on the planet, they run for 30 seconds, then sit for 10 mins, run for 30 seconds, sit for 10 mins, the entire game is centered around publicity, there is little room for actual athetisism, a running back runs, and thats it, a reciever runs and catches, i think michael vick and UT QB (i forget his name) are the only truely athletic people on a football field, whereas soccer players can be interchanged to any position on the field pretty much (plus the fact that they play 45 min halves without stopping, you think an american football player could do that, if you do i laugh in your face)

and yeah, its pretty sad when the best thing about your championship game is the halftime show lol

lol I always hated the halftime shows, the commercials are good though. Some of those statements were true, and thats why a lot of people prefer college football over pro, like I said earllier though, only games that are shown on TV are like that. And well yeah, ofcourse your not gonna see a 300lb lineman run like a soccer player.

In american footballs defense, there are differences that account for the lack of steady play:

1- the average weight of a football player is 100+ lbs more than a soccer player. If soccer players were the same size they couldnt do what they do.

2- football players, especially running backs and sometimes recievers, get raped by hard ass tackles. 20+ carries a game half the time getting your head nearly knocked off and still being able to do it is athleticism.

thus there are more players than vick and vince young that are athletic, however i dont disagree that world cup soccer requires a higher level of athleticism.

Not to mention, and never has it been more evident than this world cup, that a LOT of soccer players take fucking pussy ass dives acting trying to get calls. while it may work in their favors, they dont know what it means to get hurt compared to football injuries. please let ray lewis tackle them just once.

im not saying american football players are not athletic at all, me and my roomate had an argument about this too, what i am saying, is that they are trained to do one job and only one job, whereas a soccer player can do all the jobs, im talking overall athletisism

if i trained myself to run into a wall 30 times a day, eventually i would be able to do it no problem, and i think thats the problem, americans would rather watch a person run into a brick wall 30 times than see someone with finesse handle the ball in a soccer game
