The fascination of ODS YOYD.

Why do so many people willingly shout and/or join to do ODS YOYD? I'd be damned if 1 person walks out of the BC with 5M and everyone else gets 20k-200k based on luck. First of all the claw isn't too common, 1/6 is a good average I'd say. Second, the persons orb who "wins" the claw didnt solo his orb so cant give me the "it was my orb BS", it took the other 5 he was with to get the drops, 6 people went, 6 people spent 30KS, and 6 people put in equal work each 6 runs. Personally I do ODS even split on claw, you keep other crap on your orb. If you like being greedy and screwing others, then do a run, get shit on your orb and leave with 20k so I can lol at you. 30KS generally (accounting for varying jobs people have and how easy/hard some may be at being able to solo for them) isn't _that_ easy to obtain, I'm definately not gonna walk out of it with 20k because another is greedy.

I've never done ODS, never will. I've heard far too many people get jackshit on their orb. I'd rather do DD or something else.

I'm personally against YOYD BC's. In a melee setup, where work is actually involved, I see nothing wrong with an even split. Hence the problem with shouting for BCNM PTs.

For ODS, i don't think I'd ever go with anything less than 3xBLM and 1xBRD. In my previous Linkshell, we would usually have a burn group + a leech using an orb and simply pay (at their discretion) the BLM's a "fee" from their orb if they got a worthy drop. Usually, since the BLMs would be doing 15-25 runs in a row...

I participated on a friends character in a manaburn ODS run about 6 months ago, we had about 100 people come.

We got one claw. Our choices were either:

split all money.

keep claw, give all other loot to the 5 BLM (naturally this is quite a stupid choice, as if you get no claw, you get -no- money.)

One person chose to keep the claw. His orb dropped our one, and only, claw.

I've done ODS with BLM RDM NIN PLD WAR WHM. PLD gathers the scorpions at entrance and you kill them one by one, while BLM and RDM sleep the scorps with PLD doing his best to hold hate on them.

ODS is really really easy, good RDM+BRD can keep them all slept easy. Then you just need like... THF+NIN or something, can be done with 4 or 5 easily. Split works out nice then

That's exactly it, these people think the others are too hard, and are so fascinated at the "chance" a claw will drop, that they dont see that DD or others can net pretty good too. It's usually a shout for solo your own scorp 6 melee's, so of course no sane mage will buy into the YOYD BS.

DD generally isn't a profit BC, at least from what I've gathered.
