    Scientology Stuffs

    Go go ytmnd!

These ones are quite long, no idea how factual they are, but it reminds me of the "omg masonics" fad a few years ago.

    1st
    http://theunfunnytruth.ytmnd.com/

    2nd
    http://theunfunnysequel.ytmnd.com/

3rd (i cant stop laughing at how funny this one is)
    http://lexownshubbard.ytmnd.com/

And here's the article that sparked alot of the controversy, and the scientologists shut down for a week :

You wouldn't know that though because you've demonstrably never picked up a book nor educated yourself on the matter. Let me guess, overweight housewife?

people need to keep putting that article up and the ytmnds on their forums and sites n' stuff. It's easy for them to take down one website. It's another thing for them to try and take down the whole damn internet.

    [EDIT]

here's a more detailed link on Paulette Cooper and how the Scientology heads tried to frame her:

this stuff sickens me the more I see it.

I've shown all my coworkers/family/most of my friends the two "Un-funny Truths" ytmnds, and I make sure I watch every time just so I can realize how truly dangerous the cult is.

    Rolling Stones Article: Inside Scientology

Read that article, it was I think the 2nd or 3rd time Rolling Stones wrote an article about scientology -- the first time (or first two times), Scientology forced them not to post it.

Basically, it can be summed up right here.

Here is the god they worship, Xenu:

    http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...C_Panorama.jpg

"Seventy-five million years ago, Xenu was the ruler of a Galactic Confederacy which consisted of 26 stars and 76 planets including Earth, which was then known as Teegeeack. The planets were overpopulated, each having on average 178 billion people. The Galactic Confederacy's civilization was comparable to our own, with people "walking around in clothes which looked very remarkably like the clothes they wear this very minute" and using cars, trains and boats looking exactly the same as those "circa 1950, 1960" on Earth."

Reading information about scientology on wikipedia and stuff is actually very entertaining and interesting. If you want to learn more, head to wiki... it's got some awesome info/pictures.

Xenu was a criminal and tortured the spirit things he put on the earth, I forgot what they are called... starts with a "t", thetons or something? Anyway, the thetans/thetons were tortured and messed up then blown up on earth and so their energy clings to people and thusly people are made up of thetons/thetans or something to that effect. I don't think they worship Xenu at all though, that's is totally wrong. If anything they don't really worship anyone, just use the theorys they boldly claim to better themselves and understand themselves. It's all a bunch of garbage though. Seriously, I don't see how anyone can believe anything scientology has to say, it's all based on a science-fiction writing, pedophile, weirdo old guy. And then the rest is stuff people "see" when they have their little episodes when doing their expensive scientology check-ups and crap. It's just a bunch of people letting their imaginations run wild.

I can't even begin to understand how/why people believe in this stuff -- what of it is appealing!? I like my religion to be remotely intellectually stimulating, not some sci-fi crap that would get as much money as Pootie Tang if it were made into a theatrical release...

What I also dislike is how this all of a sudden becomes a battle of "Organised Religion v. ???." Firstly, before any of that starts, please tell me how the hell you define scientology as a religion.

The amount of crap floating around of Hubbard-
    A) Admitting he was making crap up
    B) Telling people why he was making crap up
    and
    C) Taking psychiatric care + pills

really makes me sad to think that people are manipulated into believing this shit.

Scientology is insane, but imo the set of beliefs itself is just as insane as any other religion.

    In other news...

    http://c2ore.com/archives/?itemid=1575

"Scientology uses strictly scientific methodologies to undo the damage done 75 million years ago by the Galactic Confederation's evil warlord Xenu—we offer our preclear followers procedures to erase overts in the reactive mind. Conversely, Fictionology is essentially just a bunch of make-believe nonsense."

When I hear about Xenu, I always think about the Star Trek episode of Futurama where Star Trek eventually became a church.

At least the Star Trek movies made money.

    (Sly Battlefield Earth reference.)

kinda funny watching that interview with the head of the scientology church, at the end he clearly states the process in using the E meters

the approach in which they use is psychological in nature, yet they hate psychology lol [they say they try and eliminate your deep seeded negative responses to stimulis from traumatic experiences in the past]

"Sure, it's total bullshit," Jurgenson added. "But that's Fictionology. Praise Batman!" classic.

really makes me sad to think that people are manipulated into believing this shit.

Well the really sad thing is this whole stuff about Xendu and all this crap didn't come out until recently. Remember their whole idiotic story was only released to people of the highest order (people who already paid thousands and thousands of dollars to get there). And as the ytmnd would suggest they would give scare tatics to prevent anyone releasing this information.

I'm guessing now they won't have an easy time finding members like they used to. Think of how this has been in existence for almost 30 years and we're just finding out the inner workings now.

Also, it hit me today and I can't believe I forgot about this. I remeber when I took a sci-fi course in college we talked about how a few sc-fi buffs had made like a gentlemen's bet on who could get the largest amount of followers. One that I clearly remember that was part of it was Gene Rodenbury (sp?). He, of course, decided to create Star Trek. I remember there was a writer who created a book series, I wanna say Asimov but I think I may be wrong. And of course there was someone who started a religion, and it wasn't until today that it clicked that that person was Hubbard. At the time I knew next to nothing about scientology nor cared, so I never really thought about it till today.

I think Hubbard's bet was with only one other sci-fi writer; Asimov and the Star Trek guy were "big shots" of sci-fi, weren't they? Hubbard was a much less heralded writer.

The other sci-fi writer admitted a few months or years after he started his "religion" that he made a bet with Hubbard, and he pleaded that Hubbard put a stop to the "nonsense." We all of course know where that went.

PS: If you have the time, go to http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/8343367.

Click Launch and skip to about halfway in the video when Matt Lauer and Tom Cruise start talking about scientology. Very very old interview, but its incredibly fascinating to watch how Tom Cruise "argues."

Okay, I've actually been doing a lot of reading on Scientology because I'm fascinated by its appeal to people. A lot of the aspects about it that people seem to be drawn to are the lessons it preaches that are very (or the same) simular to those of Jesus or Buddha (who pretty much preached the same thing anyway).

But there are a few red flags in the mix. Actually, some down right frightening messages hidden beneath the inviting surface.

On their website, in particular, is one such message: The aim of Scientology, there is claimed to be, "A cizilization without insanity, without criminals and without war..."

Now at first this sounds utopian. It's actually quite frightening (and very simular to the promises Hitler made to the Germans before WWII).

What is "insanity"? It's really tough to say. If your answer is a "mental illness" then maybe you'll have to define what that is as well. Numberous cultures throughout the world have revered people with such mental "defects" and placed them in positions of authority and power. The best example is the shaman. Many tribal cultures choose their shaman based on physical deformities (hermaphrodites, for example) or mental illness (such as schizophrenia). These are not unsuccessful cultures, either, but ones that have functioned effectively for eons. In their eyes, a "mental illness" is actually a gift or a blessing. So what is insanity? Can we properly define it, or do we just classify it as something which prevents a person from interacting normally with our own society? Or in this case, the society of Scientology.

What are criminals? People who break the law. What is the law? I series of constantly evolving rules and regulations for people to follow to function in society (so we think). Martin Luther King is a good example of a man who did not follow the laws that he did not believe in, nor did his followers who also believed in nonviolent disobedience. Eventually through many trials, though, the blacks began to pave their way towards equal rights in America and end the racist rules in place by our government. Criminals are not always acting in the benefit of society, but they certainly can, as has been proven time and time again. A world without criminals would also been a world under the undisputed rule of some unstoppable governmental entity (which may or may not be in our best interest, most likely the latter).

War. I think most people would love to live in a world without war, but I don't think the human race will ever see it. Even families war, even if not on the scale of nations. The only real way to prevent war would be to homogenize human thought, such as Hitler tried to do when the German propaganda machine running was at full force. If everyone is thinking the same thing, has the same ideas, and agrees on the same opinions, then there will be no disagreements or war. So long as humans continue to live diverse lives, though, war is an inevitable fact of human life (just as we must eat other life to continue our own existance). A world without war would likely resemble Ray Bradbury's "Farenheit 451", in which all sorce of information is strictly controlled and regulated, and no one is truly allowed to experience any of the great aspects of human life.

This among other messages dotted about their website sends unrealistic or frightening messages that sound good on the surface... but hold no truth underneath. At least as far as I see it.

What Shaede writes reminds me of Equilibrium, which also kinda proves his point because at the end they rebel and a war breaks out. Even though it's a highly fictional movie I guess it kinda shows what humans really want...

Peace is nothing but a dream for us, and it's actually scary to think what a peaceful world would be like.
