My dynamis ls has killed Dragontrap and it for sure does NOT stop CC from spawning babies...
I don't know if it was mentioned but Dragontrap spawns babies also, so you fight 3 flytrap monsters that build a resist to sleep rather quickly. Would take a while with only 12.

I wouldnt mind trying that @ next CC.

Re Fairy ring removing flee : I saw it still running like a whore between people when we killed it.

Stempshthsklashkshkcornmuffin : Apparently removes vampiric lash.

Anyway, having cleared the yagudos and fighting him there, there is tonnnnnnnns of room to move in that place, you can run in giant circles before running into a hypogryph, seriously. We didnt kill hippos till farm time, and we didnt really run into them. Just clear yags first or alternatively, drag him to the other side of the beach, where once again, nothing exists

Just imagine him as straight tanking kirin.

    - He can use breaths like crazy which do a ton of damage
    - Has either meditate or TP regen (spammed TP moves at will).
    - Hits really hard
    - Is fast
    - Has a big area to fight him in with no adds immediately nearby (once yagudos are killed off)

This is basically screaming "Kite me!". I pulled him out of the cave with grav, which slowed him down to slightly lower than normal. With Kirin, what do whms stick on the tank party? That's right, barfira. Now what if we get a bard with dark carol? I can bet this will cut down damage from his breath, with shell and other -magic damage.

Him meleeing you for 1000 a smack is another sign screaming "Kite me" (or CS+Stun me with a ton of dmg! ). Wind up TP moves are outrunnable on normal fights, grav this dude and he'll be more managable. The only difference between this and kirin is there's no poles to run around, but you have valkurms retarded topology, that can help.

    /shrug

Next time we do valk we'll have plenty of time post boss to kill the Dragontrap NM, but that'll be useless. Either way, we'll confirm what killing NM's post boss does.

if/when we do valk that is ;p

We did Valkrum again last night, and hade it to CC with 10 minutes to spare (after killing flies/Fairy Ring/2 quad stone groups/Nantina/Manticores for TP). After our loss last time due tonot knowing were to stand (raped by the mobs spawns), we got into position this time with our mages in that SW corner and the melee up along the fence. 2 BRDs to sleep the baby morbols. 3 rdm/drk with a chain spell order. 2 drk/nin with a kraken each. We got him to about 50%, but were charmed twice (all melee lost TP from that, which hurt) and in the end we were pretty much wiped by miasmic breath.

There has to an easier way to do this guy. >_< Last time we fought him, he didn't charm at all, which was very nice, and this time he did which triggered a whole bunch of people complainging about why even kill Nantina if he's still gonna charm.

I'm guessing most people fight him DL style? We tried that last night and failed, there has to be something we're missing.

    Do killing Dragontrap and impossible-to-spell-tree-NM make that much of a difference in the long run? We haven't even attempted to kill them yet- might have to split into groups like we do for Bubu. >.o;

    Here's a question.

Has any LS fought CC after killing all 4 NM's? If not then for all we know splitting up & killing all of them could make him an absolute pushover and may well have an effect all its own.

While all the Megaboss in the new zones share some characteristics in how killing mobs in the zone impacts their strengths & weaknesses they are all still different in their own ways and it is feasible at least that CC might be further weakened if all 4 NM are killed.

It could just as easily not impact him in any appreciable way & be a complete waste of time, but it bears some looking into. A smart group should be able to theoretically split themselves into 3 groups, kill Dragonfly, Nantina, Treeboy & then gather together to kill Fairy Ring before doing CC and determine if it makes a big difference or not.

I haven't heard a report of any LS actually killing them all in one run, so it's hard to make any solid conjectures.

In all of the Valkurm attempts that I have done that have gone remotely well (wanna say around 10, 2 wins) I have never bothered going for Dragontrap and the Tree NM. Imo this just creates too much running around and cuts down time to get things accomplished with some sort of leyway room in case of a mistake. Its a lot of ground to cover. In most cases you just gotta suck it up and take some damage and hope for the best. Just like DL, it requires a little bit of luck.

All the Valk runs we've done included killing only Nant'ina and Fairy Ring, and they went pretty good. Only 3 runs for 2 wins (if you don't include that time we entered in the very minute it was released and discovered you had no frigging sub job, with 10 people lol) but the only time we lost was when people were lazy and everyone didn't bring an Icarus Wing and Sleep/Poison Potions.

With a good Chainspell Stun and everyone sleeping TP and using Icarus Wings after unleashing weapon skills, that should deal a good amount of damage to CC but we still had a lot of deaths when it died.

Removing the Nightmare Morbols could be a really good thing, allowing -ga III spells and your BRDs focusing on the boss instead of sleeping them, as well as avoiding AoE moves if they ever awake during the fight. That would avoid your LS to have to kill them after CC with (sometimes) very few members still alive.

As for the other one, Scwhatever, i really don't have a clue what it should remove as an ability for CC but i don't think any normal LS would have enough time to clear the 4 NM's and the boss in 1 hour hence the lots of running around you need to get to them.

The Attributes section were theory, and with about a dozen Valkurm runs under our belts, we've found no evidence that any attributes are removed by killing NM's.

Somewhere on the previous page, a poster said they killed Dragontrap and CC still spawned 2 Morbols, so that provides further evidence that there are no Attributes removed from killing NM's.

I apologize for the double post, but another thing just occurred to me:

If you're planning to take out Dragontrap, you have to find a way to deal with the Goblin statues on the way to Gustav Tunnel. They're arranged like the Quadav statues, in that there are 2 pairs, and the pair in the tunnel is unavoidable. If you're trying to kill Dragontrap before killing CC, you won't have the time to kill the Goblins unless you don't plan to kill Fairy Ring or Nan'tina at all.

I wish I had the time to test to see if the pair of statues outside the tunnel are avoidable like the first pair of Quad statues (timed correctly, you can go behind the little spire and wait for the closer Quad statue to walk past). This would allow a single suicide puller to pass the first 2 statues, pull the tunnel statues, then aggro everything on the way out. Without a successful suicide pull, I highly doubt any group will have enough time remaining to kill Fairy Ring and/or Nant'ina before being forced to start fighting CC.

I'm pretty sure you can sneak by the goblin statues outside the tunnel-- you can definitely pull the front one clean and then sneak by the other. If you really wanted to you could have someone suicide the tunnel statues all the way to la theine, which should give you plenty of time to deal with Dragontrap. Mobs path REALLY poorly in Valkurm; I ran a linked Manticore trio from the middle of the fly area all the way to Christelle and I had to stop and die before they managed to chase me down; I didn't know if the megaboss would link and fuck up the entire run.

CC is one of those zerg and pray battles likr DL. Depending on what TP it decides to use, you win or lose. If it spams vampiric lash like an idiot then you win. We got it to 4% very quickly before it decided to bust out the Extremely Bad Breath during stun, but this was lucky, because it has several opportunities to TP during the fight but happened to use vampiric lash.

    Hey, there.

I apologize for the necro-post. My Dynamis LS (KONAYUKI on Ramuh) cleared Valkurm this past Wednesday. Since clears of this zone don't seem to be common, I thought that you might appreciate some information about our experience there.

This was our third attempt (and first success) on this zone. Each time, we went for the Tree and Nint'ina NMs before continuing to CC. On this attempt, we messed up the pull for the last fly mob (for subjob) and linked some sabotenders. After they left and we reraised, we had about 30 minutes left where we would usually have 50 minutes. The time between our running toward the tree camp and arriving at CC was about 26-28 minutes.

That chat log is really interesting. Just a few questions. How long was the fight (like how many minutes/seconds does that chat log encompass). Also, how did you have your Special actions start on/by filters set? Most importantly, were you able to see CC ready TP moves when hate was directed towards someone outside of your alliance? I ask because his special moves from killing Stcemquestcint and Nant'ina for you guys was:

MB VL FB MB VL VL VL VL MB VL PB VL PB MB FB MB
compare to a typical run from one of our groups, killing Fairy Ring and Nant'ina:

VL VL VL VL VL VL VL VL FB VL PB VL VL VL PB VL VL VL FB VL VL VL VL MB VL FB VL PB PB VL VL VL VL MB PB PB VL VL VL VL
Now granted, a lot of those are Vampiric Lashes (lessened from killing Stcemquestcint) but I would have expected to see a lot more Miasmic and Putrid Breaths in your chat log for a fight of comparable length. Unless perhaps each of the 4 TP moves has its own independant timer--Vampiric Lash's being a lower delay than the others--which gets removed when the appropriate subboss in killed. What was the Stcemquestcint fight itself like? Did he have any noticible attributes that it seemed were lessened/removed from CC when you fought it later?

    Hey, Suiram.

How long was the fight (like how many minutes/seconds does that chat log encompass)?
No more than 2 minutes, although I can't tell exactly since I didn't take opening and closing screenshots. Seems that we used two or three chainspell-stunners (however long that is). You can see the 3-minute warning on the first SS. Do the CoP Dynamis areas give out one-minute warnings like Limbus does?

Also, how did you have your Special actions start on/by filters set? Most importantly, were you able to see CC ready TP moves when hate was directed towards someone outside of your alliance?
All of my Special Action filters were OFF. I can confirm this from the SS log. Look on SS #2 in the middle and SS #3 near the top: That Vampiric Lash that CC did against Shelly - Shelly was in the other alliance. You can see it readying it and then actually using it. All participants should have been within range for any special actions to show up on my log.

I ask because his special moves from killing Stcemquestcint and Nant'ina for you guys was:

    Quote:

That brings up a good question. Your fight looks a lot like our five minute fight on our second attempt.

Now granted, a lot of those are Vampiric Lashes (lessened from killing Stcemquestcint) but I would have expected to see a lot more Miasmic and Putrid Breaths in your chat log for a fight of comparable length. Hmmm. From my experiences, it seems that the information from divisortheory's post is incorrect.
    Attacks
Fragrant Breath (AoE Charm) - removed by defeating Nant'ina
Miasmic Breath (AoE Poison and Heavy Damage) - removed by defeating Fairy Ring
Putrid Breath (AoE Mild Damage) - removed by defeating Dragontrap
Vampiric Lash (TP and/or MP Drain) - removed by defeating Stcemqestcint
Here are the CC Specials that we suffered on each of our three attempts. (I have full SS logs of all three CC fights.)

#1 (June 07, 2006; Lost): VL VL MB VL MB MB FB VL VL MB MB VL MB MB MB VL MB VL MB VL MB MB

#2 (June 28, 2006; Lost): VL MB MB VL MB VL PB VL EBB VL FB MB VL VL MB MB EBB VL PB VL FB MB VL VL VL VL MB VL VL FB MB VL VL MB

#3 (July 19, 2006; Won): MB VL FB MB VL VL VL VL MB VL PB VL PB MB FB VL MB

What do you notice? Each time, we only killed the Tree and Nint'ina. That leads me to believe that the Tree NM influences Putrid Breath and not Vampiric Lash. It also tells me that you don't really want to waste time going after Dragontrap since VL is the weakest among its special moves.

As to how the Tree fight went, it seemed a lot like that Tree with no leaves on that Apollyon SouthWest's second floor. It has all the usual big tree specials.

    #Observations

    1. I have to agree with Misterbob: While not locking specific abilities, killing the sub-bosses does influence the frequency of their associated attacks.

    2. The best-case plan could be something similar to what divisortheory had in mind:
    a) Unlock subjobs
    b) Gather together at and kill Fairy Ring
    c) Proceed towards Nint'ina. Quickly clear the statues and quadavs. On last Quadav, have a specific puller pull Nint'ina towards the tunnel while everyone is running through the tunnel to the other side to meet him. Kill Nint'ina.
    d) On Nint'ina death, have a puller team sac-pull the Tree NM from LaThiene all the way to the tunnel. Everyone should be near the tree/snipper camp (the one on the cliff near the vortex) to meet up with the Tree puller.
    e) Proceed to Mega Boss. Prepare for Vampiric Lash spam.

    3. "Vampiric Lash's being a lower delay than the others" This is also what I have observed and could account for the increased frequency compared to the other specials.

    #Questions I have for you

that's much less tp moves after killing tree+nan than fairy ring +nan, is it possible that the tree is linked to CC's HP or even meditate ? Maybe killing it lowers it down?

I'll give this another shot if/when we do valk (hi nerf).

killed CC in like 40 seconds on our first real attempt at dyna-valk, with 10min on clock.. killed fairy ring and the gobbue, i dont recall seeing more then 1 tp move go off, let alone it attempt to ready like 20 of them..

I'd say that the run I listed TP moves for was about a 4 min span. That wasn't our most recent win, it was the time before when we lost at 10% because someone cast Drain on CC as we were setting up. I didn't screenshot the whole thing for our most recent run where we won.

As for which NM is tied to which TP move it should be easy to determine. Fairy Ring uses Miasmic Breath, Nant'ina uses Fragrant Breath. So I'm pretty sure each of those NMs should use one or the other of Putrid Breath and Vampiric Lash, no?

As for him only starting 1 TP move in a 40 second fight, I highly doubt that. It's likely just the way you had your filters set, especially if you only killed Fairy Ring and Nant'ina. I had them all in the log since i'd set all of the "actions started on/by" set to OFF to try to stun EBB.

I'll try and offer a little advice on this, tanked Valkrum about 4 to 5 times with DameGuy before they brokeup/wentNakamaONRY. On out last try with both Serl and Shiznax going as DRK/NIN Kraken/Ridill we got to ~15% because Kanopi fell asleep and we only had one more RDM/DRK instead of two for alternating Chain/stun.

We only killed Fairy Ring and Narit'ia or whatever (Charmga NM).

    Fairy Ring

    - Does do normal Melee attacks that rape PLD/WAR.
    - Has a Cone SHapped AoE that does almost exactly 1000 damage and does go through Invincible.
    - I have tanked it as both PLD/WAR and NIN and honestly PLD/NIN will be your best bet for this fight, with WAR/NIN and NIN/WAR back up tanking.
    - Power bomb curing doesn't really work well on this fight, you need to have two back up tanks for this atleast because the main tank will most likely die.

    CC

-Tanks face Selbina Gate, with the sub tanks on the left and right waiting for Extremly Bad Breath. Usually this only hits the tanks[Cone shapped AOE normally], in one instance it did wipe the whole alliance even though Hate was completly on myself and the other thank.
    - Kraken/Ridill DRK/NINs do wonders on this NM because its a shitload of damage really fast. Try to use them around the 60~50% mark so that the tanks can hold hate, also have them stand with the tanks if need be.
    - All mages and support stand withing casting range on the left and right with all Melee on left or right side as well.
    - RDM/DRK worked decently on this fight at the time when the CoP Dynamis came out, Gonna need atleast 2 RDM/DRKs due to death/time.

After about our 4~5th wipe and coming so close we said fuck it and went back to Northlands to which all we got was fucking DRG and BRD....

It was a fun Dynamis as far as change of pace went, but the NM fights were a little buggy in terms of AoE. [Happy maxx?]
