"Gayest" NM/HNM fight?

Jailer of Prudence is, without question, the worst fight in FFXI. My linkshell is pretty Sea heavy and I've fought Jailer of Prudence seven times since joining a few months ago seeing just one Virtue and one Torque. On one of the fights they warped to a Black Mage, did Sinuate Rush in unison and wiped pretty much the entire alliance. Luckily, we were able to salvage the fight - for a Prudence Rod.

Another fight, the second decided to dissapear at 24% and leave a Prudence Rod in everyones log five seconds later. That one was cool!

And as if the Jailer of Prudence fight being hard enough and not dropping it's Virtue was bad enough, it then took us six Jailer of Faith's before we got his Virtue to try again. I've killed Jailer of Faith nine times in under a week before but our linkshell is now completely maxed out on Faith Torques so that's kinda nice.

I'm sure you probably do, but we've found a drastic improvement in Sea drop rates with a TH4 THF as an active participant in the fight. None of that last-hit bullshit, but having them actually engage the mob and live through the fight has made Sea considerably more bearable for us. Maybe we're just lucky, though.

It is Solar, we have a couple Torques and a decent supply of Virtues from it now.

Every JP LS on my server who has ever foughten JoL, has had a thf in the ally the for the extent of the fight shooting bolts. I always wondered why, but maybe theres something to that.

On Topic: I concur with prudence's gayness. Cant speak for the drops since we're like 5/5 with virtues, but the fight itself is bugged to hell and completely homosexual.

Historically we've found leaving a THF with TH3+ in for the duration of the fight results in better drops as well. At the very least, it gives you peace of mind for those harder to win pulls or 7th day+ lottery king pops.

As for annoying fights:

1) Proto-Ultima: Idk, we haven't tried a fire resist tank build yet, but I heard it works pretty well. We may try a RDM/NIN tank on it tomorrow but anything that needs to be zombie'd down with half the ally weak at any given time bc of one move is annoying as hell.

2) Kirin: Used to be such a chore post rng nerf. Its not nearly as bad after we started straight tanking it 7-8 months ago. We've managed to cut kill times from pop to drop to pre rng nerf times of 20-30 minutes with a mix of smns plus thfs and sams solo SATA WS'ing on pld/nin tanks for hate control. I'd go as far as to say its a fun fight again for all involved.

Notice the line just above that says "Sylvr is Drawn in!". I know I supposedly had 5 seconds AFTER that to move, but when you aren't expecting to be drawn in, then you aren't likely to react fast enough to GTFO. Of course, since I was drawn in, that means I had hate, so after CB hit, I'm pretty sure he killed me anyway lol. I know I died at least once after this screenshot was taken since its like 5 pages up in my chat log and I'm weakened in the pic.

You need to hope for the Pirates to attack the Boat (I know theres a hint to know when/how, but still...), when this happens, you need to hope that the middle Pirate wears a Vermy Cloak, hope no random n00b DRG30 claim it by mistake thinking its a random skeleton (which happened to me...), and manage to solo it because no one wants to help you on a such boring camp, and you finally need to hope for a drop...

Took me like a full week to get both Clubs... Worth it, but really painfull and annoying camp, when the only thing you can do, is Fishing (which is the most annoying thing in the game) and Teleport-Holla or Mea once you know Pirates wont pop...

Kurrea is my vote. If you take 18 ppl with you to go kill it can go either way. He can bend over for you and you can tear him apart in about 10-15min. Or he can decided not to let you win and magic boost + Aeroga III your alliance. =(

I've not fought any of the sea stuff, so I can't comment on those.

I think the COP wyrms are pretty lame though. The rewards realtive to difficulty are pretty crappy. Fafnir drops ridill and talons and such, and thats like a 13-20 minute fight with 18. Tiamat typically requires more, and if she's being bitchy, the fight can last a while....for....ox blood? Beetle blood? A single crystal? Yay. to hell with that.

Vrtra too- anything that you can put over an hour into, doing the strategy perfectly, only to have it wing a couple times in a row and put you into the ground. Hardly fair especially considering the drops and the amount of people required. Ugh.

Kurrea was a huge f'n pain in the ass. Xolotl is an easy fight if you have 5 or more BST main or ppl with 65+ BST sub. Just get two more people to kite the sacrifices and let pets kill the NM. Drop rate is teh ghayness though; ask Gizmosan on Bahamut. We killed that every day for over a month and no Perseus Harpe (lots of Kote though).

Yeah, I've killed Xolotl with 4 people. BST SMN MNK and BRD. Have to be careful though, one fuck up and you're dead with that setup. Also. Fuck you. Why do people kill this thing for the knife and get an assload of kotes. (I just want 1...) and I kill this fucker for kotes and I get 2 Harpes in the process and not a single fucking kote.

2) AOE hits for 800+ to like 20.0 distance and is spammed
3) Wears loin cloth
4) Part of a CoP dynamis zone
