But you couldn't hit in sky? A normal melee hits 4 times for 100+ in the time it takes you to wack once with your staff and doesn't need relic to hit anything. Sea Puks are also T. I know that you like what your doing and it's your goal but you seriously should look at a parse or turn filters off and see that in no way can you move up to the burn level DD ranks.

Really since when does staff have a 2000 delay on it. A staff can easily keep up delay wise with a scythe. Doesn't mean it will do as much damage, but the Pet can sometimes make up for the extra damage.

He wins. Faster delay than many 2h weapons, and in this particular party I did more damage in one hit than a thf did with both of his dual wield hits. (sure, probably gimpy thf though.). It's not the greatest damage, but it's more than "feeding the mob TP" damage. The damage i'm doing, fenrir will do roughly the same, + blood pacts + spirit taker = not all that bad. I'm arguing th at in the right situations, it can be decent. Not L33t, but also not "wah wah smn sux stfu" bad.

The main difference Vipey will see in merit PTs comes from being able to melee and keep her avatar out full time while doing (more effective? i'm not a summoner) blood pacts in a merit PT rather than just looking at the damage the staff does alone. As someone said early on in the thread, usually summoners just summon, BP, release, and then heal until their BP timer is up again.

I make the claim because with a non-claustrum high dmg staff I can melee in AU exp and not suck bad. Claustrum has accuracy +20 (the main problem) Thus it would become easier to melee on tougher things. (I can already hit sea puks 90%ish for 45-60 a hit and 100ish crits).
lol :D -edit- fixed erronous quoting
I hit for 40-50dmg a hit with my daggers, each swing with 90+% acc...

Your problem is shitty attack, which comes from having a low skill and needing to go the +acc route, leaving you with crap when it comes to an attack rating.

False, unless you're in a slow Ulli PT or something.

Summoner has no place in a merit setting. The job itself is slow-paced, and doesn't fit in. If you were ever to get one in your party, the only thing he should be doing is curing, because wasting 200mp and 15 seconds to do a BP that hardly matches a war or mnk's WS is retarded. Same reason you wont invite a BLM.

I guess a smn with all the melee stuff(would need the relic, all other staves are too weak to do this) could fit in, but they'd be the same as a pld/nin. Not as strong as the main dds, just someone trying to fit in to get some buffer xp.

Please, this discussion is retarded, take it to KI where the idiots at the Summoner boards there will actually care.

And for the galka: My Taru usually has 850hp/1300mp, and if I wanted I could easily bump that up to 1000hp/1200ish mp, you fail.

Just as with PUP (But Even SMN can close a level 3 chain and has B in their main weapon...) Life belt + sushi is all it takes for me to hit close to 90% (and over if I throw on ecliptic howl, which helps the other melee too) in mamool ja exp.

Currently have 3 merits in staff (Skill 256) so it can only get better

    .

I earned all my merits on SMN, you fail. As long as you still get easy big chains in Mammool ja, no one gives a shit. Hell, i even subbed THF there once and no one cared. With a pt that needs littel curing, what else is there to do except damage? And with all the things that i've listed 20 times, I can. Merit parties dont need to be 100% optimal.

And Kirin's pole (DMG 60) and my current Dynamis staff (DMG 55 outside dynamis) suffice just fine for damage.

ok but you can leave though, or don't read the thread. If you only like to have said job set ups, then enjoy the way you play. Some of us like to mix it up and party with different jobs. I guess he is like probably like those ones, OMG I DID L33T damage, OMFG look chain 92847292729. I would rather get a chain 30 having fun, then a chain 200 and be miserable.

    smn/nin (I'm thinking a smn/nin doesn't have any room for haste gear)
    390 delay

    war/nin max haste gear
    (276 + 236) * .80 * .76 = 315 delay + 75 extra delay for the next round

More like 3-4 attacks per round than 4, so I over estimated a bit.

I'm pretty sure a mnk/war might be able to average 4 attacks per 390 delay but I"m not sure.

Neck is pretty much available for whatever, waist and back are pretty much just for MP, so those spots are available.

Anyone relying on UNCTGTG's claims as substance for your arguement, I suggest you stop. Seriously, this is like having a 5 year old playing with plastic army men deciding whether or not your country should go to war.

don't you only get the attack speed reduction from actually dual-wielding? I don't understand the mentioning of SMN/NIN

I think so, only duel weilding gives you the attack speed reduction.

You guys are silly... parsers and peen rule FFXI... especially with endgame dorks.
You cant possibly work towards a goal or do "not so peenish" things with your friends just because it's fun.

Ridill-WAR onry... anything less is a waste of $15 per month.

Pld/nin has A+ weapons, good dmg/delay, multi-hit weapons, haste gear with acc on it and hecatomb the best ws gear set in the game. Smn has...sniper rings? That's a horrible comparison because a pld/nin can be a powerful DD if you're going to put time into it. A smn still lacks a shit ton of gear to be a decent melee DD.
