If a guy claims he's an effective melee smn I want to see proof. Wacking at a T mob for 56dmg isn't proof. He claims that he's effective and that is what we are arguing about.

If you want to spend 700mil for a peice of jeuno and spider farming gear that's great, none of my smn friends would upgrade relic, not because they don't have the gil, but they feel the dynamis currency should be put to use by someone who would actually use the weapon.

If I was in a dynamis ls and had someone lotting tuku towards a relic staff, while I was upgrading my own weapon I would be a little pissed. It's like having a blm and rdm both lotting for A. body when both have the same time in. If your paying for it all by yourself, aka no cheap rate from ls etc... no one is giving up anything for you besides 10min in beau and a different route on a xarc farming run, then sure. But if you are in fact upgrading a farming weapon that is taking away resources from other people upgrading something useful, then I think it's well within an observers view to call you selfish.

When did I say T mobs only? Im talking about real exp parties, not your lolparties which consist of a meleeing SMN, a Nuking DRK, and a PLD. When I talk acc I talk overall acc, not per battle. Get a parser and dont count how many hits you do off the top of your head, it wont work.
What are they doing? That's not a question that YOU of all people should ask mr "I melee with avatars out". They are doing damage, you are causing riots of laughter.

I'm not going to have 90% accuracy one battle and 5% the next. And although I was "counting" It was over more than one fight. I know better than that.

I never said anything about a "nuking DRK" or a PLD (WAR/NIN, NIN/WAR, THF/NIN were the melee)

Can stick a PCC on the neck (i have a summoning torque currently but am going for the Grandiose Chain for the HMP/HP); Lifebelt, duh (Hierarch Belt or Pen Rope depending on the situation). Earrings (currently wear Magnetic and Insomnia)- I'd be tempted to do 2 str earrings; I have the suppanomimi but that won't help me on staff (that i know of). I don't think there's much in the way of capes to improve anything (Going to wear Invigorating once I get that set of Assaults done). Ring wise, can't really take off Evoker's, and I hate taking off Tamas but could swap in a Woodsman/Str ring instead (I don't like the def down from snipers, being a taru).

Keep in mind I'm basically a solo creature, would any of this seem odd/wrong? any suggestions for other pieces? I turn to you melee who know far more than I.

For soloing, EM/low T, you dont need as much acc gear, think like a BST. Too much acc = too much hate for nothing.

Normally i'd advise against a STR ring, but you'd probably benefit more from one while meleeing due to low Taru and low SMN STR. But if you need the acc, get out a sniper or woodsman.

Body reguardless is out of question, I'm not sure of any Mage gear aside from "Hydra" gear (which is not acessable to any normal being out there) that gives +10 acc for SMN.

For any slots you can use with raven, go for them. acc and -enm. For SA+WS, ignore acc completely and go for STR/attack (test CHR if it's worth stacking a ton of it on for Gate).

Anyone who is of any decency on Shiva wouldn't invite him before this thread. Everyone who has talked to me so far about this thread says: "Tahn has now shown BG he's a retard" (paraphrased, but pretty much exact meaning)

There is no point attempting a major DD setup as smn.

First it's simply not possible to do in any setting outside of solo. It'll completely fail in exp. DD's need three stats: Acc, attack and haste. If you want to be any form of decent you have all 3.

Second if you attempt to be a good DD for solo play you'll most likely rip hate off your avatar and die too much. In a duo situation (smn + pet) it's really easy to take hate from the person taking hits. I know my *pld* has lost hate to rdm's fairly easily when skilling up unless I'm trying really hard to keep it, just because the damage taken reduces hate by enough. You'll be reduced to never soloing on any mob that has a big damage tp move (lolspiders) because occasionally you will take hate, especially if you SA+Spirit Taker and follow with a 3x dmg crit. That'll just spell death...

So what happens in a patch or two when they upgrade avatar melee damage and you'll be wanting to keep Garuda out 24/7? Will you continue to melee? Or will you put on that Auster's staff and actually keep your mp? If such an update happens, would that not completely ruin any arguments anyone is making for staff other than loliwant?

Forager's mantle = mp-40
Life belt = mp-60
Brutal earring = mp-30

Edit: Oh and take out the astral/ether ring, there's another 25/30 mp!

LordWalik has finished dagger and didn't have all the best gear for thf yet, and I don't think he still has, so who gives a shit about gear. He has two HQ staves which I am assuming they are the ones he uses the most.

He also leveled thief to make use of dagger because mages getting relic weapons are useless.
