NERF PLD/NIN LOL

Pld/nin, Joyeuse/Justice, Turban, Homam other 4 parts, Fort Torque, standard DD gear in other slots eating Red Curry could easily parse among the best. Ridill is broken because it's 2/3 hits, right? Two multi-hit weapons at the same time, wearing at least 14% haste with Triple and double attack? Lots of potential with DDpld.

How'd we get derailed to pld/nin though?

No zerk. No aggressor. No focus. No attack bonus. No inherent double attack. No relevant JA merits.

It's GOOD...but it's not top-teir. 2nd teir when maxed out.

Yeah, maybe not a maxed war with Ridill quality, but it'll be a very good base attack and can't it have more haste than a war? I do believe you get 304 sword skill as your max for a pld, no other single-handed weapon user can do that. And that's a fair difference in Ridill dmg for when berserk/aggressor down, but that won't make much of a difference on the weak mobs in ToAU though.

Doesn't pld also have higher str than war? Although race would matter more...

war/mnk mnk/war and nin/war get +10 from attack bonuses? it's not a sigificant amount and ingerent double attack is pretty meaningless with Joyese/Justice. YES, Justice stacks with it, but your getting about 50% Double attack on that hand either way. For that same reason I'd probly use haub over homam body, and if you have another job that can equip it, use dusk over homam hands. Don't forget if you do have a second dd job, you can use your heca for Vorpral also.

It's no mnk, but it's easily on par with axe only wars.

Axe only wars are 2nd tier? I have no problem outparsing axe only war's (as thf), usually by as much or more than meat-eating BB monks and Ridill wars beat me by. So what am I, tier 1.5?

I find this hard to beleive. I have similar pld/nin setup except with more haste and soil gorget for WS. Only think you have over me is Heta body. I do enough damage to hold my own but have never come close to a ridill war. Are you telling me the extra 5 strength from N.body you have lets you do 300-500 more damage on each vorpal?

Pld.nin is fun, can hold its own, but we just DO NOT have the attack to match the mnks and wars.

We could reference the utsu casting time theory: The less dmg you do, the less often you have to stop swinging. If the ridill war didn't have sword merits (yeah right) then that could lower his damage a bit, since he'd have 255 skill. Still, as Paladin without double attack and berserk it seems it'd be pretty hard to make really crushingly powerful attacks like a warrior does, even with the good str, availability of A+ weapons in each hand, and great gear.

I have 304 sword skill in my PLD but my damage isn't so great but accuracy is pretty good. I have most of the same DD gear for my PLD just for fun hardy use it much. A PLD can't even equip bomb core.
