It's still quite the leap here from an expected 400-600 from our launch consoles.

PS2 was released here for 700$ AUD, then dropped lower and stood at 500 for a long time, still, alot of people didnt buy it due to the 700 pricetag. 500, people still didnt feel too great about handing such a sum of money over.

PS3 is going to launch for 999, my prediction is it'll drop down to 800 after the first few weeks, people will still be unhappy with the price and it'll eventually drop to 6-700, and there'll be sales for a week or so, selling PS3's for the price of Nintendos.

Their arrogance disgusts me (Remember when they said, even if there were no games, they're so good that they'll still sell consoles?), I wont support them till FF comes out, but I might hold back even for that. SE are moving FF13 away from becoming a nice game, to franchising(milking) it before it has even picked off, poo i say, poo.

Versus will be the best one, oddly enough the main character in FFXIII Versus looks kinda like the character from the movie Versus, or just reminds me off it (I could be wrong, been a while since I watched that movie).

In anycase, some people are being mindless haters and fanboys (I can name 1 in this thread, can you?) People will get what they want based on what they want and can afford.

As far as launch titles goes not one console had a title that interested me and made me go "I'm buying [console] just to get [games]".

That includes Zelda, which I haven't liked at all apart from OoT.

If "Because I can afford it" was the motivating factor behind every console purchase we'd all have N-Gages.

It's called not being the "fool" in the famous "fool and his money" truism. This was never about being able to afford it or not. This is about how much you value your own money versus how much Sony thinks you should value it. The incongruity shows a complete disregard for their customers to the point of insulting them.

The PS3 isn't overpriced, its kinda underpriced, considering what its capable of doing. That being said, its capable of doing way more than what I want from a gaming system, which is pretty much an affordable alternative to highend PC gaming which takes a $2500 PC to be fun.

Not like it matters that much anymore. Visually speaking, technology is probably reaching its limit. I can't really imagine how much clearer/sharper a picture needs to look than it already does on the 1080 HD settings, and I can't really picture where games can go beyond photo-realism that allows for hundreds of enemies around you at once w/ no fps drop, etc. That still brings me back to why I like the Wii, to me anyway, it seems like Nintendo gets the graphic limitations that are coming up, and is instead turning to focus on gameplay over glitz.
