cure clogs are pretty worthless in most all situations >_> i have a pair that i use for bahamut 2 only, and all other situations are used with blessed

i greatly dislike the lack of haste and -enmity on clogs, and if you have other good whms who work together as a team, with 2+ people curing at the same time on the same person in response to the same event - with different merits and different gear (blessed/rostrum/cure) - its hard to interrupt your spell based on your chat log of who casted first

clogs - to me - only come into great use when there is a lack of whms and the chances of overcuring are low, and where things need to get going in a more timely fashion, like, say where tanks get double attacked by bahamut after its HP is in a danger zone where we have flare incoming~ but as these situations are rare for me, my use of cure clogs is also rare.

FFXIFlux: opinions opinions, i know how much it hurts to merit naked, without wonderful haste gear, nobles, apollos, and cleric's briault; its quite different to me (*'-')

We did Tiamat the other day, on RDM with about -15 enmity and spamming cure 3 and refreshing and converting/healing I didn't have to log off hate anymore than our WHM who was using raven gear, errant cape etc. -enmity really doesn't make a huge difference or there is a cap on it that is very low.

No haste on clogs isn't a big deal. 15% cast time reduction on heals means your recast timer starts counting down that much sooner, and as someone said earlier, if you really want you can macro in both to get the best of both worlds.

I agree the benefit of clogs isn't very frequent, but the small amount of haste and -enmity on JSE rarely makes a difference either.

tiamat isnt very difficult, and there isnt a lot of outside curing lol~ its very easy for tanks to hold hate at tiamat from those nearly nonexistant cures (maybe wing and inferno blast as regular cure points) maybe your LS does it differently and tanks cant hold hate as well

clogs only affects cures, not long-casting and longer recasting spells like haste and regen, and i like the idea of macroing in both (where applicable), but for some reason, i lag sometimes and the macro doesnt go the way i'd like it. im on PC now (former PS2) and maybe its different~

small differences in performance affect overall performance. but unlike melees can parse their performance, support jobs like whm cannot have their performance graded by a program. a parser may catch that whm 1 cure V'd for 920~, but whm 2 and 3 work at a lower enmity level with less severe hate spikes, stand out of AoE more consistantly, -na out of PT, heal mp more effectively through coordinated efforts, and conserve mp more with less cures for 0 than overzealous whm 1.

Personally, i'd still wear NQ blessed over clogs on all non-bahamut 2 cure casts (even moreso with HQ), but if you dont think theres that much difference, im not gonna yell (*'-')

Thanks for everyone who took the time to indulge my question. It's interesting to see the turn it took, and how the discussion is on cure clogs now. Still interesting discussion though.

I usually just macro in cure clogs at the beginning of my cure spells and then rostrums for all other spells. It might have to test some of what has been suggested here.

    Thanks again.

I've been wondering about this since other crap, such as haste+%, has caps. Enmity+ just sometimes doesn't seem to be as strong as it should be, but considering all the enmity+ you can stack, it seems if there was a cap, it'd be fairly high.

Including conditional enmity boosts(titanis earring, high breath mantle), kaiser shield, macuahuitl+1, aegishjalmr, 4/5 af2+1(lol), warwolf, sattva, herc, hades+1 earring, a harmonia torque, and merits, a pld could possibly equip Enmity+57 lol, but how much difference would it really make? <.<

I like to stack a decent amount of enmity, a little under 30 is what I use mostly, including 2 merits, and it seems to work out fine, but if we found that there was a cap, and it was something like +20, or +25, then it'd free up more space for HP/Vit/Def.

For Pld/nin the +enmity/haste/etc is pretty much critical while vit/def/etc is secondary. The greater the duration/intensity of the battle, the more pronounced the performance gap between high enmity tanks/low enmity support and lesser equiped counterparts.

If your mages never need to /shutdown nor get drawn in during Wrym fights then you probably got enough of both.

There aren't really any caps. As long as your PLDs do enough to keep up hate beyond your mages (or any other form of hate) and your mages conserve enough in order to stay under the tanks threshold, obviously it will appear that enmity isn't an issue. If a PLD/NIN never gets hit by a mob, constantly casts flash when its up and cures others, no matter what kind of enmity he has, or how much the mages cast, they will never lose hate. Obviously this is somewhat of an exaggeration, but your tanks are really the ones that determine where hate goes. If they're getting knocked left and right, cant keep shadows up, doesnt matter how much -enmity you have, it will appear to be useless. In the end, basically how much do you trust your tanks is the question you have to ask yourself. This question can change pretty much on every battle.

Stuff like Bahamut 2, odds are you're gonna be forced to cure one tank without any regards for hate, because you need to keep that one tank alive. In this situation -enmity would be a huge deal. Tiamat and others where you tank with multiple tanks, you can lay off a little more, and trust the tanks to bounce hate between the two.

Its a great question and the answer is Blessed Pumps +1. I like this thread maybe if everyone says Blessed Pumps +1 they will be easier to sell lol.

It is a question that should be, if anywhere, on KI. Not here.

I can understand debating between cure clogs and pumps because those give totally different benefits which can both be important at HNMs.

But comparing blessed+1 and rostrums...one is pretty much better than the other for all the stats which you use. Read Jeryhn's post: there's no "but in situation X..."

It's like asking which is better, bronze harness or brass harness; it should be obvious. The total consensus of posters here saying "blessed+1" reinforces this. And I every time some "totally pimped" player comes around asking these questions because I say to myself, could these items not be better used on someone with the ability to critically think for themselves? Or maybe their linkshell is only looking for sheep that are easy to herd

It has been a few times in various forms.

I remember saying on at least one of those posts how overated the Rostrums were even compared to nq pumps since cure clogs and
relic should cover the majority of the critical spells.

Status removers are the only ones were the minor fast cast would be critical that I have found. Peeling off those para/silence/non-haste-
    over-slows/etc faster is always good.

Coldplay sucks, and if you're a WHM and you dont know the answer to the OPs question, you should quit.

I don't see how this can even be debated that it's a legit question. A legit question for who? Helen Keller on her first day playing FFXI? I understand not everyone grasps the "mechanics" of this game as well as others, but this isn't even KI worthy. If you need to ask questions like this, you should spend more time LEARNING how your job works, and playing it better, instead of entering your Credit Card # to further your game experience.

Lol again, It's not up to me what music you should like... Almost everything has its taste.. escp music K.

Since when did you decide whats a legit question or not..?

    Again the "I have 2000+ posts and decide whats right" thing;

I only see 2 douchebags who actually said this was a stupid questions, so why isn't this a legit question? Just because you gained some status here it doesn't mean you decide whats right or not. You may be the biggest Know-it-all on this site, who knows? Maybe its time to let new people feel abit more welcomed? Maybe its excatly what this site needs?

People like you getting old Not sure why i even reply to you, what a waste.

I fail to see how my view of the value of the question isn't valid. If people took the time to learn their job the way they should, they shouldnt have to ask questions like this (come on...I dont know if you know WHM, but this one is a no-brainer). And again, noones engraving what we say in stone, its our opinion of the matter just like anyone else has one. Sure we're a little harsher about it, but thats only because we're approaching it in a different manner. Me telling a WHM that Blessed Pumps +1 are better helps him how? Even if I explain why, does a 75 WHM really need to be told that -enmity/haste/MP/MND is better then a 1% Fast Cast and some int/MP? My point was, that if you DO need to be told that (this just sounds like someone tooting their Blessed HQ horn) then they obviously dont understand how situational gear is for their job. Thus I directed them to forums, or w/e on how their job works, and probably should point them in the direction of Niro, since he knows his shit.

Look beyond the no-nonsense attitude at what myself and Aurik/others are saying. You tend to have less patience when you see a pattern of the types of people who come in here. It's very easy to label people, and most of the time, people are correct in their assumptions of the types of people who come in here.

P.S. Sorry was just jumping on the Coldplay bandwagon, I've never even heard them, its just seems to be the thing to say whenever someone disagrees with you. =P

I told you not to tell anyone about our secret Lordwafik =(

Well Lockecole, I didn't just point at this question... But in general anyone who asks a question on this site and has less than 500 posts, getting pissed on. Useally its just topics like Tiamat/fafhog/KB/aspi/AV drama which is of course fun to read but when 80% of the topics are that kind of drama, its does getting bored.

People don't go to KI because its sucks, and they know that most of the people on here can answer whatever question they like to ask. And when they come with a legit/unlegit question (lol), and the answer almost always is "Run away, we don't like you" i'd feel kinda dissapointed.. I do believe thats why so many people getting tierd of the BG forums.

Maybe the WHM with all this good gear should know the answer of his own question, but thats another discussion, can at least try to make this site as best as possible

    Coldplay owns!
