I think this thread was comparing the sizes of models, not proclaiming that Hydra was something recently discovered in the .dat files. <_<

+3 pages. I wont say anything because of your avatar.
This calling out people with their low number of overall posts to try to prove a point is getting old. Especially when the guy does have a valid point.

Let me go necro my old old 7 page thread that I created on Day 1. Inside, yes there is some pages on .dat files I found and cliamed they were hydra shots. Everyone else belived it to be Cerberus .dats.

EDIT: Found it, page one as well

    This guy's got it.

Did the title "Hydra scale" and a bunch of pictures comparing it's stature to other mobs followed by a discussion of how big it was not make it obvious? Ambiguous, I know.

I thought it was going to be about someone finding Hydra, killing it, and the only drop being a Hydra scale. Like a three-headed Nidhogg.

FFI, regular enemy according to this site:

Edit: Apparently Hydra is one of the translations for the pirate lady's sea dragon helper thing in FF5. Syldra was the JP name though, and it only has one head from what I can see:

I wonder if the head killing will relate back to Mythology at all. In Roman Mythology Hercules had to perform tasks to satisfy the gods for his insanity and killing his wife/children. One of these tasks, was to kill the Hydra. He had someone help him though. What he did was he'd cut off the heads and the person helping him would use a burning stake to singe the skin so that it couldn't grow back. I wonder if SE will be creative with this. Possibly a fire spell to seal the defeated head to ensure it doesn't grow back? That'd be very kewl.

One problem, in Mythology one Hydra head was invincible and the last head was stuffed under a huge rock so he couldn't move. Hydra really was never defeated, will the FFXI Hydra ever be defeated?

I'm sure he'll respawn in 3-7 days if you successfully 'defeat' him.

I was suggesting that perhaps he's invincible and can't ever really be killed and you just kill heads repeatedly. Or something to that effect.

One head could get stronger as you kill the others, or gain greater resistance to damage as its life drops. Or it could have some ridiculous trick to scoring a final blow, similar to brigandish blade, except a whole lot more ridiculous :O

SE doesnt follow every myth exactly how they go. They will probably do the head thing to a certain limit.

    And neither did they.

Go file>rom path (I think it's that, I can't load it up to be certain or windower will crash lol) and change the rom path from 3 to 4. You'll be able to view ToAU stuff instead of CoP stuff, just change it back when you wanna view CoP stuff.
