You guys are all talking about being able to do 2k+ slugs to puks and crap. Well, old rangers didn't have to fight peircing-weak mobs, sub war, use a gun and waste bullets to get those kind of numbers. We rangers used to save the really expensive ammo's for special fights like Kirin. Now you have to blow 100k's of gil just to you dont get embarassed in exp pts.
I coulda gotten those numbers with scorpion arrows if I wanted to back in the day. And I also didnt have to waste precious seconds in a party as I ran back in forth from melee to sweetspot.
I'm surprised the ninja's aren't complaining because their utsusemi comsumption has increased now that they have to tank longer than the first 10 seconds of a fight.
My comsumption on utsusemi toolz has increased since im tanking longer then the first 10 secs of a fight !
How does that add to or contradict anything I said? I'm not saying rng can't do damage anymore, in fact, the last time I did byakko a rng was at the top of the parse. That still doesn't change the fact that pre-nerf rng was much more capable on hnms than post-nerf.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus
With every single piece of desired rng gear aside from torque, the difference from prepatch to post is a lot, especially with god/NM type battles.
Exp fights, it's still very noticable, but good rngs still put up top notch numbers. And barrage is still a joke.
I miss prepatch rng still.
So this time next year we'll see this topic but BLM ? lol
What will next years nerf be? We have found out that most players bring just melee jobs to HNM fights so we are having mobs build up physical resistance akin to what BLM experience. This will make the fight fair for everyone.
I'm going to make a guess that even though SE knows blm is overpowered per their comment, but hasn't done anything about it, and just because RMT are composed primarily of blm groups now, they'll be forced to make that change.Originally Posted by Lordwafik
We have legit blm dynamis groups owning dynamis, owning KS99, KS30, pwning DM. We have RMT manaburns pwning JoL and sea, sky gods and Kirin, etc. It's sad that no other job has this capability aside from maybe smn.
Just imagine the outcry if/when this comes through. lol
ToAU mobs are the new Borel Hound, dmg comparison on these mobs vs sky stats or luf birds are a joke.Originally Posted by dietvanillapepsi

Currently, a large number of players can team up to overpower the enemy in certain battles by hitting the enemy repeatedly with only elemental magic. This tactic has had an unbalancing effect on the game, and we decided a change was needed.
However, altering the effects of powerful magic spells would have a negative effect on black mages and other magic users. Rather than altering magic effects or strengthening monsters, we determined that the adjustment to solve this issue should be as small as possible in scope and affect other gameplay mechanics as little as possible.
Therefore, for the next update we have decided to implement an accumulative magic resistance effect for all monsters whose strength reads "impossible to gauge."
We have also made several other adjustments to minimize the effect of this change on black mages and other magic users. For example, a party fighting a notorious monster with one to two black mages will probably not notice the difference.
However, we have decided to give Bahamut in the quest "The Wyrmking Descends" and Diabolos in the quest "Waking Dreams" a stronger accumulative magic resistance than other notorious monsters.
-Types of Affected Magic Damage
When a notorious monster is repeatedly hit by the following types of magic, it will accumulatively build magic resistance:
Black magic (elemental), white magic (divine), ninjutsu, magical blood pact abilities, magical blue magic, magical weapon skills (e.g., Spirits Within and Red Lotus Blade), and certain job abilities (e.g., Chi Blast and Mijin Gakure)
-Resistance Fluctuation
When a monster with accumulative magic resistance is hit by a magic attack, the amount of damage it receives will decrease in accordance with that monster's resistance. At the same time, its resistance will increase.
The monster's resistance will increase in accordance with the amount of damage incurred, but each monster has a maximum resistance level.

The problem with RNG is...
I have 2 choices when going to an event with my LS. I can go as:
RNG, as long as I remember to buy about 250k worth of arrows, and 40k worth of food.
or...
BLM, as long as I remember to drop 3k on some Melon Pies
Yeah I think I will continue to go as BLM. Thx SE.
And if they fuck BLM up like they did RNG, I quit.
