You successfully prove to one GM that someone is a cheating, scumbag gilseller and you successfully prove that there's another few hundred on your server, that there's another few hundred on the other 31 servers. And then they're all banned and Square's already comparatively crappy numbers for FFXI go down even further and they lose a great deal of money.

I've never been more sure that Square are fully aware of the gilseller situation and are actively instructing their shitty GM's not to do anything about them than I have been this past week.

    Other fun Midgard facts:

Typically we have 250ish people in besieged.

Yesterday there was 250ish people in DA when Nidhogg spawned yellow for about 3-4 seconds, and I ran towards it at gravity speed.

Ifrit has its share of RMT leveling up too. It's a freakin' epidemic.

I think that's pretty much it, comes down to the $.

By allowing RMT to continue SE gets revenue from the RMT farming accounts as well as the normal player accounts. Also, if they do decide to do something and delete a RMT farmer account he/she is just going to come back. Buy a new copy of the game and continue paying their fees, score one for SE.

SE also knows they will gain more players than they lose if they allow RMT to continue. Not many people quit due to the negative effects of RMT but many more play due to it's positive effects (easy gil in exchange for $).

They'll allow it to continue, shitting all over the normal players but yet granting SE more revenue so they really don't care. Normal players will quit while more and more gil sellers appear, keeping SE's revenue stream alive.

Give it a couple years and all servers will be 75% RMT and 25% normal players. Have fun with your customer base then, Square-Enix.

Though they don't completely favor gilsellers. In truth, they're screwing both players and gilsellers over. Rather than actively try to end RMT, they are just doing things that force RMT to purchase more accounts and play longer to make a profit.

Banning gilseller mules with huge amounts of gil means RMT has to purchase another account (box price of game + expansions, as well as an extra month's subscription if they ban you at the beginning of the month since they don't prorate).

Changing gameplay mechanics such as the BLM nerf means RMT has to level new jobs and spend that much longer in the game. That, and it makes the pissed off players level new jobs and spend that much longer in the game, too.

Or they could be going for a more balanced game. Either or.

These don't affect endgame yet, but it's probably only a matter of time, and I imagine the poor people who just started on xbox360 recently never even get to experience what a good PT plays like, or have much fun, which hurts the game in the long run if they all start quitting, same for new upcoming lvl 75 players who get to sky and see all the mrargus and fleehacks etc...
Last week I was chilling in the downs leveling my smn magic skill (i'm a bandwagon smn now) when I ran into a group of these. They were standing there waiting on people to show I suppose. Took them about an hour to fully gather a party of 6 before they all got on their chocobos and took off.

During this time they started a conversation with me asking me what I was doing.. I said I was leveling my summon magic skill and they seemed very interested in my avatars. I asked them if they needed sub jobs and laughed.. they said I was a funny guy.

I really hate to say this.... but I think these guys are from India. They all speak English (albit poorly) and they make the same sort of errors that I am used to when I have to call Microsoft up to validate a license key.. they misunderstood a few of my comments.. I wish I made a screenshot of that conversation.

I agree with you, Russta. That line "some people just have more time to play" it's just scraping the bottom of the barrel for excuses. The basic fact of it is that probably 1/2 to 2/3 of the accounts in this game either buy gil or sell gil. SE won't do anything when there's that much money tied into RMTing, it would be uneconomical for them. Gilsellers pay money to play, gilbuyers pay money to play. I'd imagine that's mostly what SE is concerned about. Besides, just for kicks, if this "BLM nerf" hits endgame hard so it takes longer to kill mobs etc, more people will probably turn to gilbuying for their Black Belt items and what have you because they won't be able to kill it with their LS as it is.

Don't be naive Maxx. If SE were trying to balance the game they would improve existing jobs to bring them up to the same par as, say, BLM's, rather than just hitting everything with the old Nerf Bat. As yet I am still waiting for any info to improve jobs in this patch. I only see evidence of a big, fat nerf.

As for gilsellers, I was going through Konschtat the other day and I passed by 3 groups of 6 leveling. All around lvl 8-9, still with the ? above their heads and still in lvl 1 RSE gear. I did a search for the same players a day or two later and they were in Rolanberry, all lvl 20+, no subjobs, being PL'ed by random /anon RDM's. Mostly BLMs, a few WHMs, MNKs and a WAR. 18 more gilsellers, preparing for what I dare not think -.-.

Balancing includes nerfs, you may not like it, but it does. Raise the overall power level too high (which 'bringing melees up to blm' would do) and you have another balance issue.

PvE games are rediculously hard to balance since you not only have to balance the players but also the NPCs. Toss in the fact that SE decided to have a LOT of jobs, and you have major difficulty balancing the game. Don't understate the difficulty of game design or the experience going behind this game.

"SE wouldnt have to worry about making gear better than zilart crap if zilart crap sucked"

Sorry dude, players as a whole want progressive balance, not regressive. Overpowering becomes an issue but what the fuck does it matter when the only idea SE have of a challenge is somthing that can only be beaten by fluking. They think inside the box too much, the least of their worries is that players might become overpowered.

I'm gonna go ahead and agree with Janice [edit: I think it was Janice, please correct me if I'm wrong.] here that one of the best ways SE could "balance" they game is to mess with the TP a mob is given. It's one of the major reason melee are not used in endgame as much as BLMs. If SE wanted to balance, they would surely look at why melee aren't used as much and attend to that rather than waving the nerf bat.

I'm not saying BLMs weren't overpowered. It's been a long standing joke that a couple of BLM's can take anything in this game. That's nothing to do with it. Nerfing one job does not balance the game.

Anyway, this is completely offtopic. We should go back to discussing why all GM's suck. There's so much to be said on the topic.

I've been saying this forever, add a)static tp gain for HNMs, and a two handed weapon fix,a nd you'd see a lot more mele on HNMs.

But the way things are now with tp and with AoE it's just not efficient to have them in the alliance.

It helps. If you have 1 job that is considered significantly better than 10 others, a nerf is in order.

But I agree 100% with the static TP gain (well a more balanced tp system, theres issues with static TP gain as well. Would be a lot better though.)

Is mob TP gain really that bad? I mean.. so you have 8 people meleeing Nidhogg and he decides to spam wing.. is that really so wrong?

If something drops the best gear in the game, it should be freaking hard in my opinion.

Yes its bad when you could replace those 8 melee with mages and suddently it does 1/5 of the WSes while doing similar or higher damage.

No, that's a retarded solution. The right solution is to rebalance it so that there's no significant inherent advantage to using 8 mages, but you can if you so wish.

So the "kings" can be even more pathetically easy? Who wants that?
