it's easier to just stick 6 melee/nin on the scorps in the first placeOriginally Posted by Nystul
Actually that's not true, but it works very weirdly. The whole resistance system is very glitchy.Originally Posted by FFXIFlux

100 -> 48%, about 45 minutes, no sleeps. Slept at 48%.
Take it down to 30%, sleep again to prepare for Triple Roar spam mode.
Down to 25%, oh noes, Triple Roar! Slept.
Down to 20%, Triple Roar again, Slept. Wakes up in 30s (Why did it build so early?).
We try to resleep, same thing, 30s wakes up.
We fight it down to 13%, Triple Roar again. Slept, this time it stuck. It seems the 7% was enough for the resist to wear down.
Same thing on Jailer of Temperance. It was totally ignoring Gravity by 50%. By 30% it was taking Gravity just fine.
I'm really excited about this.
I'm tired of noobs manaburning shit and braging about how good they are.
It depends on how the resistance kicks in or how bad it is, but I do kind of agree with you. If it's something like mobs start to get resistant around 6 or so casts, then it's still doable. If it's the mobs get totally resistant after 3 casts, then everything has gone to shit.Originally Posted by niwaar
Also, Pluto would probably give problems too since he has a ton of HP, but he only drops 2 coins so it's not a big deal skipping him. =P
again, if they do it right, the time you have to wait between would be long enough such that you'll end up timing out before the mobs are dead.Originally Posted by Nystul

i just mean, that way we'd have 2 different focused threads on this forum instead of a potentially good topic eclipsed by a nerf since they were released simultaneously. Does this make AV Invincible?
Yes, because he will never pop because the blm army can't kill JoL anymore. AV all fixed.Originally Posted by Kuponut
So the dev team kills Kirin, Nidhogg, jailers, etc with just 2 blm?
My ls never seems to have more than 4 in a fight, and it works fine with sc+mb on whatever it is, but 2? Lowest number I've been part of on a king kill were a 3blm nid and a 3 blm aspi.
They say the difference won't be as noticable with 2 blm, can we infer from this that the reistance built up from 2000-4000 damage will wear off in the time it'll take the SCers to get tp? What happens if that damage window is increased to 4000-8000?
Honestly, I'm pretty sure that whenever the Dev Team kills mobs they do it with their "invincible" mode on.Originally Posted by DeadLegend
Hay, we can kill it even thought it's impossible for us to die. I guess that means normal players can kill it too if they try hard enough.
^^^^^^^^^^ Summarizes my thoughts exactly. Don't nerf BLM (or RNG for that matter, but it's a bit late), buff melees.Originally Posted by Russta
What will we do once SMN gets nerfed? Serious question. Will melee jobs finally be on equal footing? Will we be able to kill anything anymore?
Strangely enough, this could be some twisted method of adding progression through more difficult content by making the existing stuff harder rather than creating new content. It's probably a hell of a lot cheaper, too.
The thing is, I'd be a lot more pissed off about this a few weeks ago. The realization that FFXI now has an expiration date and that SE plans to EOL it eventually has really taken the wind out of my sails. I'm a freaking career black mage that doesn't even have any other jobs leveled. I should be furious, but all I can do now is look at this news and think "LOL".
Well, looking at Weskits nobody has gone emo yet and quit the job. None up and the last 3 yesterday sold higher than normal. Maybe the shock hasn't worn off yet.
I remember hearing how fucked we all were because RNGs were getting nerfed...pretty much the same thing. Also, this game is full of people who claim everything is so fucking easy. "I do Tiamat with two parties!" "I farm Dynamis-Bastok with a small group of friends!" "This shit is so easy, I'm alot better than anyone who posts at Allahkazam!"
Then the game gets harder and everyone freaks the fuck out. I'm sure these video game monsters can still be killed, don't worry.
Thats because most who are aware of it are those like me who are stuck-at-work-and-can't-get-home-to-list-all-the-blm-gear-they-have-for-sale-now before everyone else does tooOriginally Posted by Spungy

Sure easy for you to say, have you ever just gone down the street and been attacked by a dragon? Well it fucking sucks when you try to cast Thunder IV for the fourth time and do 25% dmg...I'm sure these video game monsters
It's too bad making the game harder for SE means making you do all the content again only with a different job instead of introducing NEW mobs that are oh... harder? How about an NM mob that doesn't have EXACTLY the same AI as a Tiny Mandragora? How about some new AEs that are survivable and don't require stun?Originally Posted by Tom Chambers
