I'm the Avesta of RL ya know I'll be walking down a street and some big scary monster is like "SUPER HARD HNM AGGROS YOU" I look at it for a moment, throw some Biohazardous material at it, and run. They usually die chasing me!Originally Posted by epigram
People need to actually read the announcement and consider anything else being said about it speculation, there is a lot of stuff unclear about exactly how this resistance will work, what its cap will be and so on. In a matter of hours you already have people convinced the announcement said resists will cap at 100% resistand not wear over time, that's some powerful lack of reading comprehension.
And someone asked about Subtle Blow, it caps at 50% under pretty much any circumstance as far as I can tell, I'll have to test a max combination (afII, Final Heaven + Monk's Roll would theoretically get me to 100% easily) some time to see if there's any way to break through the cap, but I doubt it. FH+gear doesn't do it and Roll+gear doesn't either (despite both adding up to a base value greater than 50) so it seems unlikely even all 3 will break that cap. So at cap 1hand weapons give around 3-5 TP a hit, and 2handed around 6-8. Its half what it would be without SB, but with an alliance beating on Faf half of a gigantic shitload is still pretty much a shitload.
Yeah they can all still be killed. What Elemental Magic has done for alot of people though is simple. It has allowed small groups of individual's to do alot where they would have had to have alot more people to do it otherwise.Originally Posted by Tom Chambers
Ouch! Well, I am at work too. I can track the AH on ffxiah.com and go into the server room to log in if I need to move on something quickly. Right now I am desperately in need of Marid Tusks. I can watch as one or two pop up and I can go grab them.Originally Posted by othellojr
Flux is right, they shouldn't be breaking existing encounters because they are OMG TOO EASY, but rather put in new encounters that require new strategies (and where existing tactics will not work).
i really thought they were on the right track by adding cerberus where melee were pretty good.. oh well, shows what i know.Originally Posted by inafume

Fuck you SE.
Now that I think about it, this stuff is proceeding exactly like the RNG nerf ...Originally Posted by MisterBob

You can just throw Rngs and Smns at Kirin still. The Rng DD isn't what it once was in the glory days, but it's still effective and brings the kill times around 45mins-50mins if done right.Originally Posted by Suci

Personally, looking at what they say, I do not it is going to be bad unless you have sync nukes on things... like MBs... which I hope they exclude. Seems like "1 BLM in a party won't feel it", so unless that BLM is trigger happy, the resistance will wear fast, but a group of BLMs, the monster will constantly be nuked and the resistance will not drop. So, in my opinion, it will be like 1 minute cool-down at it's worst, and in the end, it shouldn't be a big deal on MOST things, however like said, somethings require sync nukes: MB, Yin/Yang, some Dynamis tricks, ect ect. But one thing I'm happy they are nerfing.... Diabolos, yus! I hope they nerf Fenrir too.
Maybe melee will get some traits/fixes that will put them on par with BLM to fix the void.
I have nothing to worry about, because my favorite thing to do is to solo, and nothing it stopping me there, because those give exp.
EDIT: Also, why doesn't SE just make WS hit 100% of the time. Lower the TP amount gained from melee attacks. And maybe have SMN's physical attacks suck with at least 100 TP, but being very effective at 300 TP.
Really guys... if you can't kill this stuff without a full party of BLMs your linkshell sucks.
Cerberus is a bundle of joy for 20-30 players on the server for a couple hours a week. Cerberus was an amazing fucking addition.Originally Posted by Matricide

If my memory serves (mostly because I don't have the patience to look it up) I remember being told my RNG would be useless against the CoP 8-3 BC where Zdeis are incredibly resistant to RNG attacks. If so, then the RNG nerf took place a lot later in the development cycle for CoP (Read: Almost all content in place already sans limbus/jailers) than ToAU for BLM.Originally Posted by Alathar

I'm surprised at many of the posts in this thread, specifically the ones freaking out over something that hasn't yet been experienced. I know mage classes (BLMs specifically) are worried this will be as damaging as the RNG nerf, but you should probably refrain from slitting your e-wrists until you play post-patch. The fact that you can throw a bunch of BLMs at many HNMs and mission/quest BCs and win easily is cause enough for a small nerf. It's annoying that it'll probably make killing many existing HNMs a longer, more drawn out affair though (In particular CoP Wyrms and the Bahamut Round 2). Anyway I doubt this will be that damning, it'll probably be like the AoE NIN shadow "nerf" as opposed to the RNG one.
Well ahhh... they really *didn't* nerf BLM, as they promised. They just gonna make HNM harder for LSes that whore BLM. Sup New Land King (Aspid) drama. >_>
