Um, just install VNC server on your box, then install the client on your at work machine and your set to go. If you have a firewall you'll probably have to forward the ports though. Works like a champ for me here @ work, I can messenger and surf all day, and it just looks like random traffic coming out of my box as opposed to specific url requests.

Some companies do a scan of any programs that were installed on their workstations to see if employees had been downloading anything. They check the installed program list against their known list of programs and if it doesn't match they'll call you up and ask you to uninstall it or they will remove it remotely. There's no winning at the more anal companies.

Bypassing filters/using proxies is very serious, usually grounds for termination. I was forced to remove winamp before, but WMP is ok? Trillian/Gaim all block AIM communications but AIM express works fine. The company, especially websense is really weird about what they block.

I AM the network administrator. If the higher up's asked me to put in websense I could just add a second network card wired to the outside of the firewall.

Nope, I just added another group called No Monitor -> No Block and put me into it.

Alla I understand, the state table they use changes the http header every time the page loads which according to websense is a "security flaw" and has to be unblocked by adding to the yes list.

KI I'm not sure why it's locked for you unless the policy settings you have there are utterly dumb.

Do you at least get quota time? I put myspace.com yesterday on quota time before I left for home and I got 6 phone calls this morning about why people can't look at it.
