I don't know, I'm at work so I can't check, but I just found it amusing that you can rearrange the letters in your name to to spell something that amused me for all of 30 seconds.

If you look at these forums and the amount of people here talking about getting banned, and then consider the fact that these forums are browsed by less than 1% of the population of FFXI, and the fact that many people who got banned and browse these forums won't post about it, the number seems a lot more than 2k.

Not really. You have to take into consideration that the 1% of the population that browses these forums are the more hardcore/endgame players of FFXI, vs. the random Allanewb who thinks being lvl 30 is an accomplishment. It doesn't surprise me that a large number of people here would be talking about getting banned (the knowledgeable players) vs. not as much at other forums (the newbs).

Here's my guess... they took the top 2000 people with "could not enter the next area" messages that aren't flagged as gilsellers and got them. They can do something as investigative as that, but can't put a [GM] at ulli for 15 seconds to pop a fake ulli (something I've seen them do in Aery) and see who claims it and permaban them.

You guys need to stop making this about windower, it says right in the update they banned speed movement tools, and the only time you get caught is when you zone early.

Just adding some information into the mix, I for months now have used windower to run both of my characters on the same computer at the same time. As of this morning both accounts were up and running just fine.

And as for that "Could not enter next area" message I think that's exactly how they got people. Short of watching them speed hacking, I'm not sure how else they could, since it's client-side. If they have some alert register when people who are speed/pos hacking to zone lines hit that "could not enter next area at this time" zone line, they'd have a means.

Yes that's just POL because it sucks. I have other accounts and can't get into them.

Login via the linkshell guild tool thingy on the web and if you can login you're golden, you'd get the ban msg right after you enter your id/pass if you can't

Ok, how about this theory.

Azaril said that windower is completely undetectable and I think he is smarter than SE programmers. So could it be that maybe SE is just playing a bluff.

Windower is detectable, if only for silly things like reading your window title and instead of just saying PlayOnline etc etc, it now says PlayOnline w/ Windower etc etc. He also has to change window states on the mask window to hide it (there are normally 2 full screen windows running during FFXI, and Windower hides one). Not to mention that the injected Hook.dll is chilling in memory.

My guess is that most of those guys who are POSing and FleeTooling their assaults are toast. Who really cares about banning people who use Windower?
