I've never met a girl who wanted me to open all the doors for her, pay for everything, or even walk on the outer edge of the street at all times when with her. Likewise, I've never met a girl that wanted to stay home and cook and clean for me, essentially functioning as a baby incubator and maid for the rest of her life. Those two go hand in hand with me. If you want me to baby you like you're some lesser lifeform, then you can stay home and be a housewife. We'll fill the traditional roles. Otherwise, it's equal treatment in all departments.

I also come from Texas. Maybe we're more "Northern" now than the other surrounding states, I dunno.

It goes a long way but after awhile, just the offer is like giving the guy a reason to pay. It's like this, you offer to pay, guy feels obligated to deny you to look like a nice guy, because if you offer and we say sure, we look like an ass hat. So once in awhile, don't offer, insist you pay, grab the check before the guy can and refuse to give it back. We will protest the entire time until the check has been paid for, but really we like the gesture and it's a good way to show that you're in the same relationship as we are.

I seem to be a bit late in the conversation, but I will respond anyway.

Personally, I would prefer casual. Growing up there really were not many lasting, non-dysfunctional relationships in my family- most of my relatives seemed to be in marriages with people they hated that was so obvious that even at age 8 I knew most of them would be better off apart.

Maybe I am just a cynic, but I do not see much of a reason to expend so much emotional effort into someone with whom you will eventually separate.

That's so weird about you all living in MD. I wonder if I ever saw any of you or anything, since I worked at Gamestop in the mall like a year or two ago. Also, after I moved to FL I found out that one of my really great friends in FFXI, who I static'd with practically everyday, also lived in Columbia! (Naikon from Pandemonium) It was sort of annoying cause I moved right before I had a chance to meet him!

Serious only. Your definition of serious and casual arent what it is in my book . Serious to me is just something that you want to last.. you dont need to spend every waking minute with that person and be slobbering all over them in public, but you do see them on a more than regular basis and whatnot. Casual relationships (a.k.a fuckbuddies) to me is sorta disgusting, i guess im not all that horny compared to other guys because like someone said earlier, there are emotional after effects to sex. I'm not one of those people who can just totally bypass that for pleasure. Fuck buddies to me is wasting time. Putting all that effort into someone who just sees you as an object to me is... meh.

I don't know what century you live in but nowadays a lot of girls don't like being "taken care of" in every aspect of their lives. I don't mind treating a girl out, but if she can't return the favor once in awhile because she thinks it's wrong, you've netted yourself a gold-digger. Also, you sound pretty sexist if you think a girl can't take care of a guy equally.
