Here's a question for everyone pondering the magic resistance thing:
Do you think, from what SE has given us so far, that the effect is going to be general? Will a mob, say, accumulate a general "Magic Resistance" when any of those things are used against them? Say, a NIN spamming the elemental wheel would affect BLMs throwing Aero IV at Kirin? Or do you think that it'll be seperate, say, a mob has an elemental magic resistance, a WS resistance, a JA resistance, a NIN resistance, etc? Perhaps even a mob will have a wind magic resistance and a thunder magic resistance, etc. I don't want to be gimping BLM/SMN/MNK damage by hitting a mob with my sirroco kukri or holy bolts or my san spell spam or something.
Ideas?
WOW, NO SPOILERS PLZ.Several new notorious monsters have been added to the Treasures of Aht Urhgan areas.
This won the update. The monster Ullikummi found in the Shrine of Ru'Avitau will now have different conditions for appearing.
and i guess para2 and slow2 wins also.
Sorry, I didn't feel that attempting to load the first page 20 times to check a fact that I glaced over was worth the time or effort, and I have no access to playonline at work...Dude, reading comprehension.
The update more than likely encompasses all magic damage recieved. It would basically solidify an RDM's role as support/enfeebling, so they don't waste their MP nuking with subpar elemental tiers and skill to build resistance for the magic damage that matters (BLM and maybe SMN's new Bloodpacts).Originally Posted by Michaera
I think the idea with giving away HP isn't that you would give away spare HP, but give it all away. Martyr pretty much means someone who dies for convictions/reglious faith (hi2uWikipedia)... which would kind of make sense. A WHM sacrifices their own HP to keep someone else alive. I wonder if it will just fill up the person's HP that has been taken with the WHM's HP (leaving you with an absolutely minimum of 1) or if it will just take all of the WHM's HP and the WHM will die but like with Mijin ie no exp penalty taken?Originally Posted by Illverin
Just speculatiing... it could be something different.
The MP one (if it is that) would be less useful I would think. Usually if the WHM has no MP left, that's the problem. To give MP to a tank for flash/cures would be ok, and certainly useful in quite a few situations I could think of, but who else would we be giving MP to? BLM's so they can Flood II for 50dmg?
I'd probably merit both if given the option... but my opinion is HP would be more useful on the whole.
I've never heard of a Blm zerg killing cop wyrms mister smn lolOriginally Posted by Jeryhn
So cry us a river with your BPs that deal damage relative to no stat, or deal (nigh) guaranteed damage like netherblast, and continue tossing them out every 45 seconds without having to coordinate with the skillchain in 6 seconds of lag, or worrying about getting hate.
Martyr could be a secondary Benediction ability maybe, only that it kills the WHM using it? All the WHM has to do is keep his RR3 up.
I regret de-levelling my DRK and putting him 10K away from levelling to 75 now
Absorb-TP does sound nice, though I wonder how potent it'll be.
I expect a post detailing what each job ability and job trait has a description of doing as soon as the patch comes out.

I wonder how long itll be before they announce the maintenance extension. It seems like they always happen on big updates.

Hmmm, nerf the job with NM/HNM resistance, but give them useless spells so BLM don't feel discouraged, LOL!
People sure did try. Some succeeded too, and later realized that physical damage isn't nerfed the same way magic damage is on CoP Wyrms.Originally Posted by DeadLegend
The reason summoners are used primarily for CoP Wyrm is because of their automatic 50% reduction to magic damage recieved, and their resistance to piercing (lolrng), not because of the hateless aspect of the damage. The hateless aspect of the damage is just a bonus so you don't get Spike Flailed anytime a SA melee lands a hit bigger than the tank party can compensate for.
What do you care that summoners are good on CoP wyrms anyway? Only one of them drops anything remotely worthwhile, and another is fought for an item drop to another BC, not for the rewards of fighting it itself.
The fact that Bloodpacts are not linked to a stat that we can improve upon is more of a liability than a plus, I assure you. Even a fully merited, fully relic'd summoner can miss Spinning Dive 3 times in a row because the calculations for avatar damage and accuracy is so random.Originally Posted by DeadLegend

It sounds like where you come from, smn zerg is different from where I come from. I don't mean smn dd, I mean 18 dickheads with avatars spam summoning for 5 hours while melees/tanks/etc just sit around in the zone so /sea attohwacsm doesn't look like a pathetic tankless, DDless, mageless 20 smn zerg lol. This type of zerg involves 18 retards (ranging in level from 60-75 wtf) throwing their avatars at [x Wyrm] and running away.
and wow Burst2 looks great, I've always wanted a real wrath of god thunderbolt spell.
Have you fought Jailer of Hope before (Burst II) or Jailer of Faith (Quake II).. AM2 looks pretty damn awesome imo. I have been hit for 3.4k dmg from Quake II (stole hate fucking around with mazurka). Burst II is near insta cast from Hope due to the mobs fast cast. I doubt these spells will suck when MBd.Originally Posted by DeadLegend
I once heard that Meteor is 1 mp in dats, so eh, maybe these Tier2 ancients have strange properties. Someone earlier mentioned Burst2 having a cast time of only 8.5 seconds, that is sick if it's true for players.
So did DRK just get the ability to self chain with gsword using /sam meditate and ABS-TP ?
meditate start->Spinslash->Abs-TP->hit->Groundstrike?
And if lolpup gets howling fist and dragon kick, i wonder if they improved their skill cap on h2h, otherwise they'll be waiting until like level 73 to get idragonkick.
