Corsair AF quests

I posted the ingredients on the second page for the gloves and boots (me and a buddy were doing it, and each took a different item), and we were both asked for 4 mythril coins. Then someone hear said they were asked for the gold on the body.

Someone said the second item you have crafted goes up in price, but if the body was 1 Gold and it was his first pick, then I doubt that.

Seems the crafter doesn't always need a gold beastcoin. The Body/first item to get required a gold coin. This time i went for shoes/2nd item and he asked for 4 mythril coins. Anyone get a dif coin requirement for the gloves?

The same happened to me. I bought four mythril coins and just /sighed when the AF body guy said to bring him a gold coin. Back I went to a Jeuno AH for the coin, then back to Sandy to give it to him, only to find out I had to wait until JP midnight the following day anyway. :D

Overall though, I'm done with all of the hard parts, I'm going to take my time with the others parts.

I'm going to keep a short list of things you can do to farm up materials for synths if you don't feel like getting gouged by the crafters on the AH. As of yesterday, for AF gloves, the prices of items on Asura were as follows:

Karakul Leather: 300k

Recipe[Leather]: Dark Crystal + Karakul Skin(1) + Distilled Water + Imperial Tea Leaves(1)

I went to Caederva Mire with a linkshell member and we farmed up two Karakul Skins (you only need 1). It took about 30 minutes. The skins themselves are around 50k a piece on the AH. You need imperial tea leaves, distilled water, and a dark crystal. A friend harvested the tea leaves since I only needed 2, and they were only available in stacks on the AH. Dark crystals easy to get from Dark Ele's in Xarcabard. For about an hour of work.

Time spent: 30m

Net savings: 299k

Laminated Buffalo Leather: 300k

Recipe[Leather]: Earth Crystal + Buffalo Leather(1) + Animal Glue + Distilled Water(???)

I didn't have anyone to help so I bought a synthed Buffalo Leather from the AH for 140k. I went to Valkurm and killed Goblin Ambushers who drop Animal Glue quite frequently. I already had distilled water.

Net savings: 160k

Wolf Felt: 300k

Recipe[Cloth]: Fire Crystal + Sheep Wool(3) + Manticore Hair + Wolf Fur(3) + Distilled Water

Wolf Fur[Leather] = Wind Crystal + Wolf Hide(3)

Went to Altepa and killed about 3 Manticores before one dropped a hair. Saved 15k right there on about 5 minutes of work. Went to Gusgen mines to farm the Wolf Hides to make Wolf Fur. If you go in a circle on the top floor you can killed the Bandersnatchs and keep going and going. This took considerably longer to farm up 9 Wolf Hides, but there weren't many on the AH so I had no choice. I bought the Sheep Wool at 1k a piece, so 3k total spent. Stack of wind crystals was 1k.

Time spent: 1h 30m

Net savings: 296k

Linkshell member with high clothcraft did the Wolf Felt for me. I had to shout for a leather crafter who was nice enough to help me with the Laminated Buffalo Hide and the Karakul skin. I tipped him 100k for his kindness and 2 minutes of work.

I bought the Mythril Sheet from the AH, I don't remember the price.

So, I could have spent about 900k or more, but I ended up spending 245k, which is a 655k savings for about 2 to 3 hours of work.

140k Buffalo Hide
100k Tip
3k Sheep Wool
1k Wind Crystals
1k rounded up for distilled water (I NPC'd in Sandy for like 36gil)

Don't let crafters gouge you on these AF items!

i spent over 4 hours farming buffalo's for hides.. none dropped but i got like a stack of meat and 4 KS =/

wanted to hand in my items for boots to pick em up today.. but i handed in the hand armor instead so as not to delay everything else, i jus wanna finish this AF and do the limit break quest

as for prices:
bought 1 karakul 2 days ago for 25k, yesterday it was at 190k
wolf felt is 400k
buffalo hide is like 300k
all other stuff is like 200k each~

oh and the BLU imperial silk cloth -- someone wanted to charge 5mil for it.. but sold it for 1mil
i saw 1.5mil sale on AH.......

I can't wait for when the missions get released next week, someone unlocks access to Imperial Whitegate, and oh! Look at that - a vendor selling Imperial Cloth for 10k.

And yeah, pretty psyched for Limit Break, too, although I'm not even close in level for it. Don't need to do it either, but I swear, Corsairs have the greatest cutscenes.

I foresee something like this happening as well. On Pandemonium, the price of Laminated Buffalo leather is about 500k or so, with the Karakul leather jumping to 400k yesterday with the wave of BLUs looking to make their AF. I guess SE wants to punish us for trying to do stuff early if they do indeed release new and cheaper methods of attaining our AF items.

I'm just happy I took the day after the patch off. Got everything for about 600k total. I specifically chose the crappy gloves first because I knew everyone else would take boots and body, and I wanted to make sure I got all the recipes before the price jack. That's using the grape for ya.

And the cloth thing in Imperial Whitegate wouldn't surprise me, since missions were originally intended to be available from Day 1 of the new patch. I'm sure the recipes for the AF were decided ahead of time, too, and once the missions were delayed, no one thought about the AF... or no one cared, whatever.

I already have all my items Either through buying early (2 karakul leathers for 22k each lol) OR by farming the items and asking friends so synth (thank you sooo much Hickson ;_; ). The only piece I don't have yet is the Lam. Buffalo leather, and I'm about to go farm that as soon as I can get people who need it or can help Tomorrow hopefully I'll have the full set of COR AF >.<

Ah, well if the Karakul leathers were 22k I would have bought them myself, but looking at the AH history they jumped from 70k (gogo Asura!) to 300k in the same day.

Seriously, people are greedy bastards. I don't know who put up Wolf Fur on the AH, but for 3k worth of materials this guy was selling it for over 20k. At that point I was like, "No, I'm not going to give into this."

Too many people are like "I want my AF NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW NOW" and are willing to be gouged.

I'm going to do this soon as NIN, BLU, RDM; think that's winnable? We're all kitted out and stuff, going to have the RDM take care of the Blue Mage while we destroy the Warrior, just wanna know if it's guaranteed suicide to try this. the BLU with us can come as any other mage job too.

Should be fine. We had a SMN 2 hour the BLU while I tanked the WAR on PLD, and a BLM cured me. For a gimp WAR (he uses a sword), he was really knocking me around, but I was in DD setup, not tanking. They were SCing on me, too, which could take out a decent chunk even at 75, but never had me worried.

But had plenty of MP to keep me cured until Blue Mage was down, and then we creamed the WAR.

I imagine with a NIN it will be even easier.

One more thing though; can I just go to the BC now as NIN? I have the key item (obviously) but do I need to go there as COR first to trigger some cutscene and then go back as NIN? I really don't think I'll have to but I want to cover all the bases as to not waste any time.
