Yeah very low, with AF2 pants I MB thunder IV for at least 1700-2000 dmg, definitely seems low. . . .

Maybe the whole point of this nerf was because of AM II.
Fact: AM II is the single most powerful spell there is.
Fact: Made even more powerful with merits and a MB.
Conclusion: They dont want a tank and a SAM (giving the tank tp lol) and 16 BLM doing an MB with 16 Burst II.
Maybe they resistance is over a short time just to prevent that scenario from happening.
Think about if they didn't give Bahamut extra magic resistance. Instead of taking it from something like 13% -> dead at once, maybe they would have been able to take it from 30% -> dead with BLM ES + Burst II.
My mbs are weak as shit but even I break 1300 with af2 pants. Good lawd.
On today's fafnir with a melon pie+1, and my shitty gear which I won't post here, I was MBing thunder4@1297 damage. I got hate and died in half an instant around 60% (hurraaaay enmity+ merits). At that time, I was MBing for 1097 damage. We had 2 skillchains and 3 blms at that point, and another blm had joined in a little before I died. The strongest of the blms present was MBing for I think 1460 regularly, with no food. I could be remembering incorrectly. He said by the end, his MB was only reduced by 70 damage. After I died, I took off "Attacks by others" filter to keep watching their damage, and I never saw his MB drop below 1400. In the end, even his unbursted Thunder4 was 1100+. Damage flowed at a very nice clip with 2 skillchains(Wheeling thrust>Savage blade, Mistral axe>Shark bite) performed by Drg>war, and War>thf, with 2 or 3 thunder4 MBers and one dude who deleveled on sunday MBing aero4 for useless garbage damage.
If you want to take my nukes as the example of the nerf then consider:
I went from 1297 to 1097. 200 damage out of a 1300ish nuke, this would be about 15% reduction to damage. Take into account we were really slamming out the skillchains, and you can see this "nerf" won't be so very bad after all.
From the start of the fight until I died, I had 1 or 2 resists, this is with 305 elemental magic skill, so more likely just my usual random resists than anything else. The strongest blm was resisted maybe 3-5 times from start to finish, but he'd have maybe 1 less skill than me if I'm thinking of his gear/merits correctly.
Well tomorrow Manafont of Garuda will MB Dynamis-Sandy at 10pm, i guess i can let u guys know how much the resist will be inside ^^
I would like to see if an AM II can one-shot a dynamis statue. Someone please try it, AM is weird like that.Originally Posted by Mefisto

Would be pretty comical to see a maintenance tomorrow w/ the notes reading; "An issue with the new Magical Resistance of Monsters has come to our attention. We forgot to implement it. So sorry ^_^"
I kinda wonder what they even really did. I didn't notice any real change today. If its so insignificant its not even noticeable outside of normal resists on spells, I don't see the point in doing it at all.
i guess the blm nerf is only to stop manaburn BC, the scorpions and wyverns KS30. DM. etc.
you cant do it with 6 blms just to time nuke and sleep anymore.
the resistence wears off so fast that you wont notice a big difference in wyrm fight, ouryu BC in which you dont chain nuke.
Still need the one question answered that basically was the huge concern on this update. How will this affect manaburning Bahamut v2's adds. I dont see it affecting him so much, but his adds are manaburned quick, within seconds, so I see this possibly being a big issue. On the other hand, resorting to melee damage on them seems like a really bad idea, but who knows.![]()
I just read this and laugh when a msg poped on screen "we doin maintain to the following areas:.... thx God it was to the Promies lolOriginally Posted by Xavier
Haven't seen anyone mention this but anyways heres goes
Maybe it only restistes when you use 1 kind of magic to kill something.
Example If you have a mnk chi blasting + Blms nuking durring fight you will see 0 restence but if theres only chi blasting to kill it will restist.
My point being doesn't this affect dia / bio so why would SE release tier3 of those only to be nerfed by the same patch.
So maybe using more then 1 kind of thing melee, chi blasts, nukes, and etc is the key to not be affected by this patch. These people posting about unrestisted fafnir more then likely have some type of meleeing etc durring fight there not just stright manaburning it.
And AM2, and magical Blood Pacts, and Ninjutsu: San, and... Oh well. Humanity cannot understand how SE works.Originally Posted by phizit
They add new abilities and nerf them at the same time to prevent abuse. And I did go over exactly what you are talking about.Originally Posted by Kuropiko

We have a Monarch Orb, but I'm scared to waste it now :x

For the real test.... Divine Might? 16+ Blm casting the same element spell should show something I'd hope (if people have filters off to see dmg).
BLMs said the nerf was unnoticeable on Fafnir. We were very mage heavy and had something like 4 blms, 3 rdms, 3 whms, 1 nin, 1 thf and 2 brds. Not sure if the resistance is decreased simply by time or having a few melee constantly damaging it helped at all but basically I would solo a WS on THF while our NIN tried to build TP for SC while tanking and being terrorized lol.
Told BLMs to free nuke a Water 4 or T4 if there was no SC and they said damage and resists seemed the same. Was still pretty slow going until we had a MNK arrive to provide more consistent SCs but overall it seems the BLM nerf is closer to the NIN nerf rather than the RNG nerf.
<3 the new dagger damage and Wafik's new sig lol.
Sounds a bit to me like that Utsusemi 'nerf' SE performed a long time ago. That was when NINs were like "OMG IT'S GONNA BREAK OUR JOB", when it actually turned out to be extremely insignificant.Originally Posted by Xavier
We need some guinea pigs to go do BahamutV2 since the magic resistence is supposed to be more potent there (either that or Diablos fight).
