Yeah but a bad day in fishing or digging involves a loss of a couple hours of your time and a minimal amount of gil, synthesis crafting can win or lose you millions easily based on luck.Originally Posted by Forge
Digging at least has the potential upside of getting elemental ores (yeah i know it's rare), I know within 10% before I even cast my first line how much I'll make that day fishing.
Digging is not a craft. It's basically like field work, only instead of pickaxes or sickles, you use gyahsl greens. The only thing that makes it more advanced than field work is that you get rewarded with skill the longer you dig.Originally Posted by Forge
Saying that the only reason it's not listed as a craft because they don't want everyone doing it is pretty ridiculous IMO. There is nothing secret about digging. As soon as you get your Chocobo Liscense at level 20 and ride out in to ronfaure, you get the Chocobo option"Dig" and when you click it and says "You don't have any Gyashl Greens," then you have all the info you need on how to dig.
what i mean is not many people know you can get more then just bonechips and pebbles from it, and that there is actually a leveling system, atleast they used to be alot of people that didnt know.Originally Posted by Daahan

This doesn't make much sense to me. Everything is only worth so much, depending on supply and demand.Originally Posted by Catrina
My god, are you serious? On the same token then, there's nothing secret about crafting either.Originally Posted by Daahan
Use a crystal and it pops open a crafting window. There, go craft.
There's even a NPC that will tell you the recipes.
EZ-MODE!
I'm curious as to where I posted that crafting was secret.Originally Posted by Snarg
That other guy mentioned how digging is not listed as a craft because SE doesn't want too many people to "know" about it, and I proved that statement wrong by showing how Chocobo digging is obvious in the game.
So we're going to ignore the fact that the crafting menu has a hidden listing for "Riding"?
Given a game that has "hidden" skills, modifiers, walls, latents, stats etc. Claiming that there couldn't be a "hidden craft" is rather narrow-minded.
As to why it's hidden, I agree that SE didn't want many people knowing that it was a skill. Since the profitability of the craft is entirely limited by the number of people doing it, drawing attention to it would deminish the value of it.
Now that the game has been out and people have seen exactly how profitable it could be, it attracted the attention of RMT players and bots to abuse it. Since it was no longer a secret and being exploited, SE introduced adjustments.
I have heard rumors that with the introduction of chocobo breeding the skill is going to be made visible. We'll see if that happens or not.
Let's not forget the secret "dig" option that pops up when you ride a chocobo.
We know it's a level-able craft, what does that have to do with the fact that there's no risk involved and it's basically farming?Originally Posted by Snarg
You can always loose exp farming :/
As I stated earlier, it's all about trade-offs. With digging and fishing, you spend a whole hell of a lot more time leveling it, and in the end you don't bathe in fountains of gil solely from the craft itself (well, maybe you do in fishing, I'm not a fisherman.) With crafting, you have the option to level it as fast as you want (read: can afford.) In the end, if you are smart about knowing what to craft, and have a certain amount of luck, you stand to make millions in one crafting session.
Digging is a craft, it has a skill associated with it which you have to level before you can dig up some of the more costly items. It's the same thing with crafting... you have to be pretty high level in order to synth some of the items which sell for multiple millions of gil. The difference with digging is you will never dig up something worth millions of gil (unless SE changes the loot table.) Crafting = less time/more gil. Digging = more time/less gil. I really don't see what the argument is here.
The whole point of this thread is how chocobo digging was changed, and many diggers are unhappy with the change. I'm a chocobo digger, and I'm unhappy with the change. I don't need jackasses like Nynja coming along and telling me I'm whining when he's a clueless retard who's not even impacted by this. (Btw, I know what to do with that bucket. Put it over your head so you can continue living in the dark.)
I said it before, I'll say it again: Those of you who are unhappy with this change need to tell SE about it through PlayOnline's "Comments & Suggestions", and file a bug report about it as well. I doubt they will do anything at this point, but it can't hurt. It's also possible that the upcoming chocobo raising might solve the whole issue. I'm not very fond of having to wait a month to raise a stupid bird that may or may not be able to dig for as long as I'd like, but perhaps something can be done about that. Just have to wait and see.
Well now that you know this awesome fact, stop whining about digging and make real money. Or, since you seem to hate it so much, just fucking quit already.Originally Posted by Fhqwghads

How does he fail when he's making an obvious point. You've stated previously that you used Chocobo Digging to make money for yourself in game, when you know that there is already an option to make more gil in less time. Kind of a self defeating statement.Originally Posted by Fhqwghads
k, I'll explain how it went one more time for good measure. He sells a staff. After this staff was sold, no other staves of that type were up on the AH. He then put a staff up for 200k less than the one he previously sold when there were *no other staves up*. Even if he had placed the first staff up for 200k less, he's still undercutting when there was no other people trying to sell theirs.Originally Posted by PussPuss
