Wheres the graph showing the ridill drop rate compared to firecrystals and people in your party we need to factor in the "being JP" in there somewhere.

Maybe? Actually I think Cerberus and Hydra are two of the most interesting and fun HNM fights in the game. Both really expect alot of skill and coordination between several groups in order to take both down. One needs coordination to stay alive before the mob kills you, and the other needs coordination in order to take the mob itself down. Cerb and Hydra are opposites of the spectrum, but both really cool fights. Too bad both of their loot pools are so shallow/horrible....at least Cerb has 2 good potential drops, I dont even know where to start with what Hydra has dropped so far. Even looking at the rest of the update, nothing in there would make me excited to see it drop.Originally Posted by Ryko
All of the old Hydra gear (the stuff that was in there before the last patch) drops from the Nightmare Taurus on the top floor of Dynamis - Tavnazia. I haven't seen all of the pieces drop, but I have seen at least one piece from each of the sets drop, so I'm confident that they all drop there.
i give up 1.3k gekko wont break his head..
we can get it to 1-4%.. but it does physical shield.. and we cant kill it
it grows heads and we cant kill them
i dont understand how LS with 2 SAMs say they killed it without head problems
we had 2 SAM and a DRK/SAM and we got it to 10% in 20min
but psat that we cant do shit it regens on us
any advice? /sigh
Get a MNK with formless strikes merited and hundred fists in there when its in the 1-4% rangeOriginally Posted by Stanislav
That or see if you can scrounge up a loldrg with angnon(sp) for the def down to negate the physical shield.
he will get magical shield up then>_>Originally Posted by Navia
Maybe you're getting unlucky or a little slow, i don't know. I didn't fight the one on Gilgamesh but from what i saw, the last 10 percent went down in like... 2 minutes tops, maybe less. I think it was just a massive WS zerg with 2 SAMs using Meikyo Shisui, it went down really fast. He wouldn't have had the time to use his shield i guess lol.
Your LS have any Bsts with the new terrorize ability? Perhaps you can try that (if it works on HNMs at all) for the last few %.Originally Posted by Stanislav
My LS couldn't get to it in time and it got snagged by a JP LS. After the first time they took it down to <20%, it took them about 2 hours to finally kill it. I didn't see what exactly they did at the final 1-5%, though, as I was focusing my main char in Dynamis. =/
You could also try to get a THF Aura Steal his Physical Shield, i don't know if that would work. Or a BLU trying Lowing to counter his regen for a few secs.
Stanislav...I told you how to beat it last night.
Get it to 1% and then sub in a BLM PT, 6 BLM ES Thundaga III and it is dead.
The end.
We had same problem...we got it to 10%, then hit the 2 hours. After 3% it put 3rd head up and hit physical shield. Then every other time we got to below 10%...physical shield. WE said "fuck it" and left.Originally Posted by Stanislav
I really think some of the shells that had no problem at all just got kinda lucky with the heads. The fight would be a breeze if you're able to knock the heads off easily. We had 6+ melee in at any given time all weapon skilling right on the heads and sometimes it would take 10 or 15 weapons skills to knock one off. By that time Hydra had regenerated back to 25% or higher. I think we were in the same boat as Stanislav and Tyche, but instead of giving up we fought it for hours.
Is there some trick to cutting the heads off other than just standing next to one and using your weapon skill? We thought that you need to cut off her right head and then move to the left one. Mighty Strikes Rampage went 2/2 knocking heads off so maybe it's a critical thing.
Gah, the whole thing reminds me of the nightmare it was to learn Frenetic Rip and Spinal Cleave. I'm sure some blue mages out there will understand that frustrating randomness. Cutting off heads seems the same as breaking an Imp's horn or a Qutrub's dagger.
In any case, I'm not that excited to fight Hydra again...
We got it to 14% and then it was literally Phys Shield >> Phys Shield >> Phys Shield >> Phys Shield. One time we got enough magic damage to break the Phys shield, it immediately did Polar Shield then swapped right back to Phys Shield ad nauseam. Insane. I think there's a trick to knocking off the heads, beyond just WS spam.
Our first Attempt we got it to 21% before we died to physical shield nerve gas nerve gas nerve gas. We think it has auto tp at around 25% and the heads are just retarded. We were sucessfull in knocking them off with THF SAM and WAR. We also believe it is a critical hit that takes off a head. They seem to grow back faster and faster the lower the HP of the mob is. We fought it for around 2 hours maybe a little more. Its a fun fight in which we threw every job we have at it.
The knocking off heads reminds me of when i was leveling blue mage where you had to break a mobs weapon/horn to get frenetic rip, hysteric barrage, spinal cleave.
Very evil indeed ><
it has auto tp all the time. when u engage it will use tp very soon after.Originally Posted by Keido

And then it did Triple Nerve Gas. Then we died. <3 this NM.
Thats what did us in triple nerve gas. You can hold this thing all day if it does not do that move back to back to back.
we won with easy our 2nd time, first time we lost just as the way you described. your post explains why you lost. you not supposed to have people sticking around meleeing it. its not like Fafnir. Don't build tp on hydra. instead build tp on the mobs below the ledge. its like beating king V with melee. you have a continuous rotation of melee who come in alalince, use their tp on hydra then getting out of allaince and away from hydra. have some SATA the tanks as well too, but mainly focus on the heads. we got nerve gas a lot too but differnece is you guys got like all of your melee hit by nerve, while we had only 2 tanks +1-2 melee get hit by it at any given time.Originally Posted by Kurp
