I haven't seen Bhoots in Assault use Perdition, and I've rly been keeping my eye out for it ever since I saw Aurik's picture with Blizzaga4 and getting hit with Perdition.

    I said Assault, not Besieged.

Besieged mobs obviously have The Rage™. I'm more surprised Perdition isn't AoE during Besieged.

Do you know exactly what they do to duo it? The one time we attempted it as NIN/BRD/RDM, basically the same way we would handle Charybdis, there was no way in hell I could deal that much damage before the boat docks while still being able to evade enough to survive. I never really thought about doing BLM + RDM using kiting and nuking methods, I could go as COR to speed it up or something...

I wonder if there is any particular way to trigger it. I've killed about 10 of them and never saw that move happen once.
I haven't touched a Bhoot outside of Besieged/Assault since ToA came out, but I purposely aggro'd one in Arrapago and it casted Blizzaga4 on me >.> Then, me and two others decided that it most drop some sort of rare cloth so we began to fight it, I took hate with a Cure4 (THE SAM/WAR NEEDED HP OK) and it Perdition'd me lemme see if I can dig up the ss

In other words; I don't know but it owned me.

It could, in a way, be interpreted as a ghost name, too, but it could make sense either way.

A lot of ghost NMs are named after the way they died, and a name that is an alliteration of their demise. e.g. Asphyxiated Amsel, Burned Bergman, Punctured Percy, etc. Or sometimes, they're just named after what they are, e.g. Miser Murphey.

2 a : an act or habit of preying b : something seized as prey
Given that its a noun, the "plunder" and "pillage" definition would refer to loot, basically, and doesn't really seem to fit. "The act or habit of preying" might sound good for a bird, but remember ravin is a noun, not an adjective. Think of the word being used like "retardedness" in:

"Tom watched in awe as the retardedness unfolded before him."
"Jane took pictures of the ravin before her, while the hyenas feast upon takedown's corpse."

You can try to make that definition work with Ravin Raven but I don't think it'd fit quite right... even though a bird of prey makes sense, the particular definition and part of speech as used as part of a name doesn't.

For "something seized as prey", this can make sense with Ravin Raven as a ghost NM. This definition makes sense when used as a noun in the name, much like Miser Murphy. Miser is a noun, and describes what he is. Ravin is a noun and can describe what Raven is. Perhaps a giant bird seized him as prey, killed him, and left a birdman cape with him to give to whoever exorcises him. /shrug

Either that, or we're all wrong and its a male tarutaru NM.

Actually that could make sense for the area with the definition of the word ravin. This may be a long shot, but anyone who has completed the quest for Spiral Hell and actually read what Novalmauge (sp?) says, he goes into the history, or rather how shades exist. The shades steal elvaan children, and turn them into shades. Novalmauge was one of the children stolen, but he escaped. Seeing as the shades prey on children to turn them into more shades, Ravin Raven could very well be a shade type mob. Has anyone tried killing the shades in the area to make him pop?

No one has finished it yet because it isn't implemented, however text in the zone dats makes it pretty clear which mobs you're fighting, and Hishahma actually gives instructions that aren't vague as hell.

I wanted to let you know, when I was camping out there for a few hours the other day trying to figure out how Ravin Raven was popped, there was a JP XP party out there killing the shades.. They didn't however kill the 4 shades that are near the Alzadaal Underwater Route, so maybe one of those 4 pop it?

Was heading to bloody bones today and found merrow #5 which was already being fought by a bst. He ended up killing and when i asked what dropped he just said (cape) in auto translater. Thought id look into it later since i was busy at the time and noticed that the only capes added in the patch were the level 60 latent capes for cor/blu/pup and the birdman cape. And the NM is a bard type mob so starting to look like merrow #5 is actually what drops it.

    The JP wiki was finally updated! Remember, these might not be completely accurate;

Skanda Boots drop from Almighty Apkallu.

Kugui drops from Southern Piranu and Otori drops from, gasp, Northern Piranu.

Ace's Locket drops from Bloody Bones (the Skeleton that drops Blackjack).

Still no information on Ravin Raven though
