I think he means that it works like Nightmare.
All three jobs who can use Mandau are the only jobs (+ blm) whos soloing strat involves sleeping mobs, why put poison on the weapon ?
In all my parses I'm 12-14% crit rate and always split JA's with capped +crit merits. Maybe this is different in ToAU? I haven't parsed a bunch of parties and haven't looked at crit rate much at all.
nothing in the WS help text up the top of the screen mentions anything about sleep, and I have not seen any "the <target> is no longer asleep" and I basically use mercy exclusively.
I have not noticed any hidden effects from mercy yet.
That parse I posted was in sky o.oOriginally Posted by Eaglestrike
No, he means that the en-poison acts like Nightmare. The poison from Mandau allows you to sleep mobs despite them being DoT.
Oh. I'll check tonight when I go home on a colibri, but I highly doubt that's the case.Originally Posted by NynJa

I was hoping that is what they meant by that "sleep effect"Originally Posted by NynJa
But I had never heard of Mandau being like that at all, and figured it was tested at some point
I heard someone mention that once but it smelled like bs. >.> That would be awesome if it were true thoughOriginally Posted by Kuponut

I just found out the Assassin's Charge is incredibly gay and is a total waste of merits. GG SE.
I think it's awesome, just need to know how to stack it.Originally Posted by vudoodoodoo
It really depends on what you want out of the ability. In xp, I seldom feel the need for Assassin's Charge. This makes me feel that I should've upgraded other new merits twice instead of capping Assassin's Charge.
But when I think about how I can get a guaranteed Triple Atk proc'ing on WS every 10 minutes on HNMs I like fighting such as Tiamat & Kirin, I'm glad that I capped it.
By the time you max all the merits that make your job more useful only in a xp party situation you will have nothing else to merit for that job and thus your whole reasoning for doing those merits is basically ruined. Go with what is more effective against HNM/Gods/etc that way when you max it you will actually put it to use. Well that is just my opinion on merits in general. I think building your character purely for xp is a waste in that xp/merit pts do not last forever, but actual end game will always be there even when you max out on merits. Merits are SE's way of artificially adding to the level cap without actually breaking the entire game.
Yeah, I'm getting to the point where I'm close to 'finishing' merits, at least for thief. 1 more hp upgrade, 4 upgrades in Other still, another group1 and group2 and I'm done. I'll continue to merit, but not even going to bother seeking. This is also a reason why I don't max exp on thief, I'm doing that once I get Mandau lol (no chance I'm letting myself de lvl out of Relic >.>).
As well, can always merit other jobs, like my pld has no merits in it atm.
How do you stack it? When I do it, I'll WS + 3 dagger swings right after.Originally Posted by Eaglestrike
I even tried it w/ a regular attack. It's just 3 dagger swings. I thought it's supposed to make your next hit 3x the damage. At least they worded it that way.
A 10min JA that makes your Triple Attack proc once and doesn't stack w/ WS is really really gay.
It stacks with WS. Try doing Assassin's Charge+SATA+Shark Bite, and watch your TP return. It's best used with Shark Bite (and Mercy of course, lol) because of the high fTP.Originally Posted by vudoodoodoo
It definitely stacks with WS.
Dancing Edge on Robber Crab (13 TP return)
Dancing Edge on Robber Crab with Assassin's Charge (15 TP return)
It's alot easier to notice on lower level mobs. On xp mobs, you tend to miss a hit or two during WS, often at times, you don't notice the full TP return even with Assassin's Charge.
Any word yet Wafik? =)Oh. I'll check tonight when I go home on a colibri, but I highly doubt that's the case.

and yeah my parses have always been around 8-11% crits, 0 merits in criticals thus far. Finishing dagger > str > crit. Still debating str and crit order.
I also cant decide on what im doing for the new abilities. Since I am leaning more towards a meat build I can see the permanent benefits of ambush possibly adding up to more dot than a AC once every 10 min. Maybe.
It's really a toss up, few hundred more damage on gods vs. a couple more swings on a god for 10-20 dmg.
Also highly depends how many times you crit within the WS.Originally Posted by Soma

night! Nothing on for tomorrow so i'll test then.
It will stack and force a triple attack, it's beautiful.
You can see by the TP return here (18% - 2x5% swings = 8%)
A regular Shark Bite is 6% with /WAR and 8% when tripled on me usually (Store TP = +6 w/ Raja's, Brutal).
