this is what we mean when we say you are setting your expectations too high. If the only thread you're holding on by is the one waiting to see when they're going to make alternatives to Fafnir and King Behemoth, quit the game now, because you will be disappointed every single update from now until the end of time. Just quit the game, seriously.

I think you misunderstood my point there.

I personally despise Dragon's Aery or any King Camp with a huge passion. The only time I've been back there in like the last 3 months led to a 12 or 13 page thread on KI after our Nidhogg got ninjaed by another Linkshell. I'm more just speaking from the general viewpoint of alot of FFXI's endgame user base. My jobs are more or less capped out, I only play this game to hang out with friends really, the game itself kind of annoys me to no end.

It is fairly frustrating though that 3 years later all SE will say is "We think the Body Abjurations are very strong," yet refuses to expand upon the game in a way that would "require" better gear to be out there.

I havent camped any HNM for like... 5 months now? Im happy.

In the past 4 months, I've been to a handfull of kings camps, only when a HQ was very due and my LS was low in numbers. Since then, I've enjoyed the game more since I'm not spending anywhere between 2 to 10 per day at camps. 10 hours per day. Do you not realize how fucked up that is ?? In the past year, I probably havent even slept for 10 hours in a night.

People who bitch about this game are the ones who devote their FF career to kings.

I'm getting pretty dang close to quitting, thanks to them nerfing the fuck out of chocobo digging. That was my only source of income, and gave me the ability to upgrade my equipment with HQ stuff. That was about the only thing left in the game that was holding my interest. With it gone, I think my time in Vana'Diel is coming to an end. Sucks, I would have liked to be quitting because I achieved everything I wanted to, not because I'm being shooed out due to SE fucking me and all the other chocobo diggers over.

What I'll probably do is deactivate my content IDs, or whatever the heck it is that needs to be done so SE doesn't get my money, but I can come back later if I want. I'll wait and see what happens after chocobo raising is introduced, and see if raising a chocobo bred for digging restores the "craft" to its former glory. If all it turns out to be is a mediocre increase in items that can be dug before getting fatigued (and I'll bet money that it will be) then I just won't bother coming back.

Retarded, like it or not the answer to fixing people STILL stuck in 3 year old content isn't making that content suck or blaming people for actually noticing that the rewards are still worth the bullshit. Limbus offered a viable alternative, (homam-wise). SE -can- get it right, but instead your answer is just "enjoy the assfuck and don't hope for a reacharound and youll never be disappointed". And before you say it, I haven't been able to camp fafnir in about 2 months now on my character and in general for the last month or so. Heres a bad analogy that works on some level if you've played magic: They only made black lotus once, they didnt balance the game around that, they balanced it around weaker cards. Unfortunately they can't rebalance this game with rotations like they do with magic. That doesnt mean the game isnt fun.

BTW: The single coolest thing SE could do is create servers that reset every 6 months where you only preserve linkshells. Add a real competitive, skill based element.

I'll go with the analogy: Konami banned Monster Reborn, Raigeki, Dark Hole, Change of Heart, Harpie's Feather Duster, Pot of Greed etc because they were too powerful. Before they did this they made Call of the Haunted, Premature Burial, Lightning Vortex, Torrential Tribute, Snatch Steal, Enemy Controller, Various magic negation/destruction cards, and Graceful Charity and Pot of Avarice. All of these latter cards literally do nothing different than the former cards but they come with costs. They are basically in every way, shape, and form as powerful as the banned cards but they have conditionals. As such people had an option around it, albeit situationally.

If SE went and decided "ok abjuration gear is too good and the latter stuff is being ignored so we'll just downgrade it", the kicker is that people would have little to nothing to look to instead. If they made the adaman hauberk suddenly suck it doesn't do anything to enhance the game except give the DRKs still wearing NQ hauberks a reason care less about one of the few sets of gear done right. Abjuration armor does come with costs for their bonuses, unfortunately SE lost that concept somewhere so they just make shitty stuff in general people wouldnt wear anyway because they'd gladly take the cost for the massive bonuses that abjuration armor gives.

And the people who say "you only dislike the game because you camp kings all the time", bullshit. This game has the problems of horrible alternatives given way too few and far between (it does have some saving graces) regardless of whether or not you're sitting thumb in ass in DA for a better part of your playtime. If you say it as someone who isnt accomplished you come off as a whiny person who only wants to get their shiny and if you say it as someone who is pimped the fuck out you get the "you took the soul out of the game" routine.

True the game was a bit more fun after leaving hnmls and no longer wasting the day watching the best bot claim KB/Nid/whatever. But then it became wasting time looking for group or looking for brd/rdm or tank to exp, everything else that could be done (assault, dynamis, limbus) was fine for the 30minutes - 1hr it took, then locked you out for 3days and back to exping. No thanks. This update only pissed me off more too. so yea i don't plan on ffxi anymore.
