80%-90% of my close friends have quit the game as well as about 50% of my linkshell, anyone who thinks that there aren't some serious problems with this game and the new content they're releasing is wrong.

Ryko, what would you like them to add to the game? Personally I don't think the bottlecapping at HNMs is that bad... They definately need to make the pimp items more accessible, but only so that it matches how it was a year or two ago. For example, a couple years ago maybe 70-100 people would be at a camp at the most, now it can be 200+ as some have mentioned. To compensate for this, Ridill should drop twice as often, maybe even a double drop. This obviously isn't the greatest solution, as the strongest linkshells will still hold a monopoly, but it is a start. However, I still don''nt think these items should be easy to come by. Ridills, E. Bodies, etc. are all the elite items in the game... having them drop from an instanced BC or KS would ruin their value. The reason these items are so desired isn't even because of their actual usefulness (except for Ridill and D. Ring). For example, E. Body isn't THAT good. There is no better alternative, but the difference between a normal Hauberk and A. Hauberk is relatively marginal. The main reason people want A. Hauberk is because it's blue and very few people have it. These items, while useful, are mostly trophies. I for one wouldn't like it if I got a Ridill and then SE made them easily attainable.
lol wow has major issues too, grass is greener syndromeOriginally Posted by Ryko
We've posted the answers time and time again. As an endgame player it's not hard to come up with solutions:
1) new HNMs in ToAU should have gear that serves at least one non-trivial purpose better than any other.
2) we need an abj2 set, possibly from cop wyrms or from new ToAU areas
3) fix sea. add money drops, fix the virtue drop rate, make AV killable with 25-30 people with a good strategy
4) add abj/king item/ridill to KS99.
Sorry, it does have issues but they arent major. Its pretty balanced, ofcourse at this point they are making so much fucking money off the game that they have loads to pour into it. I guess its possible that the worse ffxi does the less money they are willing to invest into it? We are getting the "lowest bidder" devs maybe?Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus

Not to get bitch slapped by people but I kind of laugh at people who say WoW has nothing to do in endgame while we're getting set up for Dynamis-Bastok#214432534262346. SE needs to get off their asses and see how Blizzard runs the basic structure of endgame.Originally Posted by Ryko
People are sitting here saying "But If u add nu gear no1 will do the old stuff!!!1." Things like Naxx and AQ20/40 have dropped in WoW over these last few months, but you still see people doing "lower tier" Instances like ZG and MC all the time still, because the content and gear scales properly.
Ridill has an alternative for warriors (yes, joyeuse is an alternative. It drops your damage by a couple% over a couple of hours but who gives a fuck for meripo) but Gallant Surcoat --> Koenig Cuirass for LOLbloodtanking is bad progression. Making a JSE body for DRKs that had 15 acc and "enhances ATK bonus" "Latent effect (Weapon skills): +8 STR" give them an alternative to an adaberk. A PLD body that had +10 VIT 5 enmity and "Enhances Defense bonus" when engaged and another item with latent effect: refresh and MDB +4 upon disengaging. Things like this would give people options in terms of actual function.

1) Sad but true: Hydra Finger Gauntlets are the best hand piece for DRGs tping/pentaing. And does anybody know proc rate and potency of the poison off snakeeye under latent? Yeah it could have been much better, but its not completely ueless.Originally Posted by aurik
2) It doesnt have to be the sbj system, and much of the Abj gear is outdated. The few that are left should be able to be beaten pretty easily.
3) 25-30... Kirin used to be minimum 36. It either needs a way to lock 2hs or we need to figure out if there is a way.
4) Meh... I guess. I'd prefer to trade in necropsyche in for abjs![]()
I'd prefer more breadth in endgame content than SE making dragons aery v2 in some new zone with 300+ people dogpiling into it every night just so we can go play around with fafnir or behemoth at our leisure.Originally Posted by aurik
When did it take minimum 36? What are you smoking? People were doing Kirin with 24 in 2004.Originally Posted by Jooeetheplatypus

In my opinion, turn Kings into 18-man BCNM fights. I mean cut out the pit in Aery or the opening in Dominon with rocks and you enter from getting a pop item dropped by Beastmen Kings, some ENMs, some BCNMs, and maybe ISNMs. You fight a harder version of a NQ mob. Hard because of stradegy needed. Take Fafnir's abjurations and split them to the other NQs. Add more Ridil like rewards, maybe a bit weaker. 1 day retimer. The NQs have a 40-50% chance of dropping the next pop item. You trade to same spot, and fight a harder fight against the HQ. Even more rewards added to these pools. Leave Wyrms, Hydra, and Cerberus as the HNMs to make the game feel like "MMO" as SE put it. Increase the item pools for all of them to include epeen weapons. Increase the usage for their materials and improve the stats of the stuff they make. Don't forget adding more loot to Sea. Three things that would turn the game upside down, but in a good way. The only thing that could make this better is that anyone who killed Hydra/Wyrms/Cerberus last time, can't kill him untl the next next pop.
The problem isn't 3 kings though, it's the lack of new equivalent gear from alternative sources.
Not everyone can afford 50k twice a week for Limbus. Stop being such an elitist.Originally Posted by Krandor

If ridill becomes commonplace, I think that sort of equip becomes the baseline for future content development and kills off the sense of accomplishment in getting said weapon. Having a weapon that occasionally attacks 2-3 times becomes about as special as having a scorpion harness.
Some people won't shed a tear if ffxi has less players because HNM competition will reach a more tolerable level of competition for those that remain.
Clearly you aren't as hardcore endgame as you think you are if you're going to quit ffxi and not wait out the competition to quit first 8)
lol
Regardless of what SE implements, there's a hardcore group that is going to decide what the most lucrative activity is going to be at any given time and dogpile it. What you don't see is that by creating Dragon's Aery v2, they've now released Dragon's Aery v1 from the dogpile for our leisure. Fafnir is a fun fight, and a hard one to boot. Behemoth, KB are awesome to fight too. Aspid sucks. Sky is a really decent intricate tiered NM system.Originally Posted by Navia

You don't get breadth by adding it in one patch. You get breadth by adding over time a series of substantial endgame activities that are Worth Doing.
Sure, as time goes on, the older ones become merely a diversion compared to the benefit/time ratio in new zones, but who cares? I mean, we all keep paying money so I would hope they keep adding new content.
