It seems to me like they added a LOT of "instance" style stuff. The assault missions are extremely varied and some are a little challenging, the ISNM missions are currently limited, but then so were BCNM when they were released. If you mean instanced as in, 40 man raid dungeons ala WoW, this isnt WoW. SE LIKES people to compete for NMs and the likes, if you dont like it you are already playing the wrong game.
SE is getting there, but still not even close.
You claim that "SE likes people to compete for NM's", I see it as "we place restrictions on how quickly you can get stuff because we like your money". Please don't take my tone wrong, I'm not some born-again SE basher... I
like FFXI, and was a total fanboi until I actually experienced the competition and noticed a pattern that permeates throughout FFXI.
Assaults are instanced, yes... I guess we need to not get hung up on that, I do mean that multiple copies can run at once but also that you can repeat it as much as you want.
What if....
and believe me this is a hy-po-thet-i-cal (<3officespace)...assault didn't have a one-tag-per-day limit? Hmmm? How does that break the game? Why couldn't they have done that? I can't see any reason besides SE execs sitting around a table saying "wow, there's another 6 months of each subscriber guaranteed, DANCE PUPPETS DANCE!!!!!" Ok the ending is embellished but yeah...there's no reason to have a restriction on it.
