E body adds on average 4-30 damage per rampage over Hauberk +1 (range based on crits and multi-hits). Total gain is 1-3% dmg. Like I've said before, if your not elvaan you might as well delete your char and re-level the job if your going to complain about E. body. As an additional note, as your damage increases the difference is smaller.

A. body on the other hand gives refresh, and no race gives refresh, no body item alone gives refresh and let's you use a hat. Therefore it is a great item for an rdm, and E body is a minor upgrade to what is on the common market.

As a bst I like my merits. Feral Howl is pretty shitty 1-3 second terrorize that I can use every 10-15min (depending on level). The regen thing is a joke, killer instince can be useful, and any beast who doesn't toss 3 merits into Affinity is probably either super hardcore solo or retarded.

As far as I'm concerned I'm happy with this patch, and with hydra being gimp, it won't be contested so my friends and I can give it a shot if we feel the desire to. It also means that crafting items from Hydra won't be monopolized unlike Cerberus mantles.

Biggest problem with the update I think is besieged and the archaic mirror guards. Other than that its had me playing more than usual so I guess it's a win for me.

A party of six 75's can take them out easily. We took out one of many pairs of guards in Arrapago Reef yesterday. When our WAR went off on his own to kill the Archaic Mirror while we were finishing off the second guard, the mob I was fighting went absolutely ape-shit on him when he finished off the mirror. Apparently destroying it while the NM is up causes a massive enmity spike.

Please, 3acc 3atk 4str 4dex does nothing when your alliance is 60% black mages. In big fights, mp regain is of utmost importance, while damage rate isn't quite so big of a deal -- not that the war/nin in the adds party having e.body will do much to improve that damage rate anyway.

I'd much rather have a WAR/THF landing SA Steel Cyclone in an E.Body, or a WAR/NIN Rampaging dynamis mobs to death in an E.Body, than a BLM in a Dalmatica. I suppose my server's a bit different... we don't use mostly BLMs for absolutely everything, we recognize they're good at overpowering certain things, and completely suckass at others, and accomodate for it.

I'm sure Manaburn kicks complete ass when it comes to Dynamis, but a good mix of melee and magic is the absolute best when it comes to almost everything aside from TP burning or manaburning EXP, and there's no denying it.

And dalm + rdm af1 is way better than verm cloak, as is dalm for brd adding 50mp in addition to refresh in addition to any head slot (turban for haste + mp + hp?)

Fast Cast is a crutch for RDMs who cannot correctly manage a Haste/Refresh cycle. As you said, MP regain is of utmost importance. More power to an RDM with a Dalmatica and no relic hat, but its nothing a vermillion cloak can't accomplish, and therefore, it is not impressive.

As for BRDs, I don't even know. Most Bards I know go BRD/NIN for everything except Dynamis-Xarcabard nowadays because Utsusemi is great compared to the trash that is subbed Blink and Stoneskin. I don't imagine that a Dalmatica will help them much here.

Well maybe you should leave the whole "you play the game therefore you cannot criticize it" argument at home. I'm saying they could have done a substantially better job with JSM2s without breaking the game.

They could have, especially for certain jobs. They didn't, you'll bitch about it, and you'll still pay your (minimum) $12.95 per month anyway, and I'd also be willing to bet, even though these merits are as "useless" as you think they are, you'll still go out and cap them out in the fairly near future. Sounds like SE wins this one.

Yeah I'm sure you can, but Archaic Mirrors used to be fun for me to do solo because I enjoyed exploring places like mamook and halvung looking for them. May sound stupid, but I enjoyed it.

On top of that, the guards are true sight so if youre solo going through mamook for whatever reason its a bitch getting around the mirrors when they're in your path.

What's wrong with that? Hauberk+1 is decently close to e.body providing a buyable alternative that is just a few stat points short, whereas rdm and brd have to give up a headpiece (hi2u duelist chapeau) to get the 1/t refresh. A.body > E.body for this reason.

Adaman/Armada Hauberk does a hell of a lot more for the 3 job classes that can wear it than freeing up a head slot for 4 out of the 5 jobs that can wear Dalmatica. Hell, when it comes to RDMs, the head slot argument only applies to RDM's who already have a Duelist's Chapeau (Newsflash: Most RDMs don't have one).

Dalmatica has substantially better alternatives (most easier to get than an A.Body abjuration) for most of the jobs that can wear it. E.Body > A.Body by a long shot.

And no, I'm not upgrading the relic dagger, and just because I find doing my own thing in this game enjoyable doesn't mean I have to be blind to the fuckoff massive shortcomings.

New merits were good for most jobs, especially those that needed them. Therefore, I conclude that the patch was mostly a success, and we're all just pissed we still have to camp kings.

the uselessness of 15 minute recast abilities happened. the abilities are mostly good, but this game doesn't function in 10-20 minute blocks, normal mobs are killed around 60 seconds. a regular XP chain ends in less than 10 minutes.

Flash II for PLD would be made of win on patch notes, till you actually log in and see that it costs 200 MP to cast. that's what happened to this patch.

I think everyone in the eat/sleep/breath category has burnt out and quit, failed out of school, or lost their jobs; few people have the luxury of playing eight hours a day. In case you didn't notice, there is no real hardcore end-game in ffxi, it's not the way the game was designed. Hardcore HNM content services such a small demographic in this game that SE instead has decided to put its development into side games and other similar content.

As much as people here don't want to admit it, the Zam crowd is the greatest paying body in the ffxi community. It would be stupid for SE to not cater towards this group. Eventually we will see another sky-like area towards the end. This area will probably have a few nice items, a lot of crap, and hopefully less RMT. But it will be new and enjoyable.

If you want ffxi to shrivel up and die because it no longer follows your ideology that’s fine. But it won’t since many of us still enjoy the game for other reasons, and enjoy HNM under other conditions than gluttony, epeen, and drama.
