Get ZeroCast anyway, and edit the file that comes with it to take out references to all abilities but Blood Pact. Then delete the name "Blood Pact" but leave the comma and number after it.Originally Posted by Jeryhn
Turn on Glassify mode, and position the ZeroCast window in the upper right corner of your screen.
The end result is a little number, nothing else, in the corner of your screen not obstructing anything that counts down your BP timer.
Now that might actually be helpful.Originally Posted by Khamsin
However, there's still a trust issue involved when it comes to third party programs. I personally feel I can trust a plugin made specifically for the Windower over loading up on more third party programs than is nescessary.
ExpWatch cannot show xp/hr when you are in limit mode for very good reasons, go read the official response from StarHawk on the windower forums. It's not as simple as parsing the logs like xp.
I've used Zerocast before, virus scanned it and everything and there were no problems with it. It's a pretty simple program, the guy who develops it isn't a big time programmer like Cliff or anything so I'd say the risk is pretty low. He posted Zerocast on Windower forums originially, I'm pretty sure the people who administer and post on that forum would know fairly quickly if somone put up malicious software.Originally Posted by Jeryhn

If you're worried about trusting third party software, the best thing is to go to the windower forums, "Other Programs" section, and get it straight from the author's thread.Originally Posted by Jeryhn

Just so you know LimitPoints are not in memory the same way as Exp is. The only time Limit points are loaded into memory is when you open your Status window. LimitPoints are sadly held on the server, and only sent to you when you request to see how many you have.
Star and I are trying to think of a way to get around this and get them sent in a time pattern if not continuously.
I wouldnt expect LimitWatch anytime soon though, since its going to be a lot more work then ExpWatch is.
All windower needs to be is a windower and a macro tool; I couldnt live without those two things.
TParty is nice, invaluable on BST, but I could live without it, rest of the plugins are novelty.
And as stated before, CLiff hardly plays the game anymore, he said somewhere he hates it now etcetc, and same goes with the other devs, most dont even have ToAU, but theyre still working on it because we all love it.
The reason Cliff wont let it go opensource is because, again stated above, is because FFXI would be introduced to numerous bots and dumb more dumb people d/ln trojans. He says that he doesnt want to be responsible for such a thing, even though hes been confronted and told that FFXI is already fucked with bots and there is no way to stop it.
I say let it be released (and hopefully there will be one trusted soruce so when it breaks, it can be fixed) and let all hell break loose.
From the stuff I read there, he hasn't even said what types of hacks may suddenly be available if he were to release the source code. I mean, hell, if he can make people *from other servers* appear in your moghouse, who knows what is possible within the framework that he's constructed?
I assume he has some good reason for wanting to keep the source code private that he doesn't want us to know about. I'm all for open source on most projects and I'd also love it to be open source, but I give him the benefit of the doubt.
And indeed, there are a lot of motivated game hackers out there who could write up some fancy tricks but the question is, would they do as well as Cliff? Would they dig in quite so deep and expose quite so many details and so much power to manipulate the game? Letting those secrets out is implicitly sort of a guide book and the security through obscurity of keeping them secret has its merits since the average Joe Game Hacker isn't going to put in the effort to take it as far as Cliff has.
Anyway, I don't mean to sound like I want the guy's babies but I am pretty damn appreciative that the Windower continues to work, regardless of what new features we have or don't have, because FFXI without windower pretty much sucks.

and honestly, if you think zerocast without minor tweaks is too much, you didnt actually try the software, its simple as hell and doesnt include anything that bothered me in the slightest
with minor tweaking its absolutely perfect
hell, even his shadow recast program is golden
Well... safe to say since the windower site is getting absolutly bombed atm, I think it's up
Any luck getting through the website?
Nope, Error 500 across the board atm
500 Internal Server Error
;;
I got on about 15 minutes ago, it still wasn't up. I can't get on the site at all now.
I do believe this is what happens when you essentially tell an entire online community "pound my server around 10 PM"
I would love to see his ISP tech folks.
Okay so...10 EST check. Node 1, good. Node 2, good. Node 3, hmm wtf?
