Does not work on Hydra when he decides to become immune to physical damage..
(or maybe it would hit for 0 anyway... I honestly did not think about it till it was too late to try.)

Well.. we only had one black mage and there was this one elemental that got omgwtfbbq'd by formless strikes when it decided to resisted sleep...
heh..
We too noticed Formless Strikes doesn't work on Hydra during his retarded physical shield phases last night.
Does he have resistance to chi blast or magic during that phase?
Formless strikes has been great for me on things like ghosts, elementals and monsters using invincible in limbus and dynamis, but we know how bad it is in besieged where mobs have magic and chiblast resist, you can fully boost a chiblast and still get only double digits damage there, and it does 0 damage on mobs immune to magic damage like on the last floor of apollyon SE.
So if it doesn't do any damage on hydra during physical resist, does hydra also resist chi damage or magic during it? (sorry I didn't fight or read up much on hydra yet)
If it doesn't then I don't know what's going on there... maybe hydra's physical resist mode is also adding an insane amount of VIT and def, that would explain it too i guess, since those are still factored in to determine punches damage during formless strikes.
I have a question about Formless Strikes.
While Formless Strikes is active, do the MNKs attacks still interrupt spells, or is it like getting hit by magic where there's no spell interruption chance?
Magic damage is highly resisted on Hydra, and some types of damage (spirits within, netherblast, chi blast) do 0 damage. Maybe it just falls into this category.Originally Posted by Russta
Perhaps Formless Strikes is sort of similar to dropping physical damage to 0, and then just adding an En-whatever effect to attacks. Like when a RDM uses Ceremonial Dagger and hits for 0, with 20 additional effect damage.
This also brings to mind another question. Do you give mobs TP during Formless Strikes? In the example of a RDM hitting for 0 and doing 20 additional effect damage, they are giving the mob no TP.
You both give and accumulate TP during formless strikes.Originally Posted by Khamsin
Formless strikes works just like Bourdonaisse, Vampiric Claws, etc with a damage reduction added on and the damage type conversion is into magic type damage. That's it.
im a 75 pld and me and me monk friend went to a private ballista and i used my 2hr and his formless strikes went straight threw it lol
Thank you for this highly informative update, that no one had said previously, and most certainly not in this thread.Originally Posted by Krunkjuice

Lennie needs more sig making skills, your PLD looks absolutely stupid in that.
I'd think he was a gimmick account, except that sig is far too horrifying for something like that.Originally Posted by Elcura
