The whole point is that the ninja doesn't have to be meleeing the grand in the first place. Get a pld in there to hold much better hate and take less damage, or get in some smns to do better damage with blood pacts, or get in a real drk to soul eater it.

souleater generates a ton of hate just by using it, sub or main.

the damage is a plus, but not the reason why they're using it.

So does Provoke, and you can use it more often, without giving the mob unneccesary tp.

I wasn't talking about nin/drks with katanas. I was talking about souleater. You don't need to be hitting the mob with souleater to have it give you hate, it gives you an almost provoke-like(maybe more? I don't know) hate just by using it at all.

Atm, my shell uses aegis, and has really, really shitty ninjas. If we have 2 plds on the grand and a ninja, we'll have every sam taing the ninjas for hate, and the plds still have to not use provoke or cures cause they'll just dominate on hate. It's equally embarrassing on things like Kirin. And on the rare occassion the ninja does pull hate, he goes down in about 30 seconds.

That's my shell, on Titan. I said I wasn't here to discuss tiamat strategy. I was stating that a NIN/DRK meleeing for hate needed the sash just about as much as a SAM/NIN (tank) meleeing tiamat for hate. As is on sam, I pull hate more than any other melee in my shell, and tank a fair ammount of things as is. Maybe I'll give SAM/NIN tank on stuff a whirl, so I can be all "good thing I have this subtle blow +6" in everyone's face.

You are correct. However a SAM doesnt have to melee to get tp, so your arguement there fails.

And I'm curious, would you be shocked if I told you BRD/NIN is one of the best tanks in the game now? Don't discredit just because you haven't seen it (NIN/DRK)

I guess that explains the sash then, you should have just come out and said "I didn't give the sash to a ninja because my LS ninjas suck balls"

Stun - 23 sec recast vs. Provoke - 30 sec recast (similar hate, but one stuns the mob)

Last Resort - 5min vs. Warcry - 5min (similar hate)

Souleater 6min vs. ? (pld/nin won't pull hate off you after souleater for a while.. easy 1,000+ damage per souleater)

Weapon bash (stuns)

Nin/war has defender, which, vs. Tiamat makes almost no difference since with mighty strikes, your defense doesnt seem to matter a whole lot.

I don't care about discussing tiamat strategy, this whole thing spawned from nin/drk needing to melee tiamat for extra hate, and thus needing the subtle blow. If nin/drk is so great, then they wouldn't melee gd for hate and the subtle blow arguement is once against obsolete.

I think they melee for damage as much as hate, 1500 damage per ninja every other landing makes the fight quite a bit faster.
