There was a time in Map and myselfs previous LS where we didn't even have to ponder this question, as anyone as near everyone who could use a Ridill had one. The same went for A.body and E.body.

What about PLD/NIN with D.ring AND Aegis? That sounds pretty nice, so long as the PLD was getting some form of refresh for cure spamming.

I thought it was common knowledge that D.ring is good for NIN, and that Map is retarded.

Seems like any tanking class (PLD and NIN) would get equal use out of the ring.

PLD takes damage anyway, therefore the ring helps.

NIN takes damage when shadows are down, therefore ring helps.

Map likes to flaunt the sash, therefore sash doesn't help.

I like to be stupid then everyone calls me out for it, therefore defending ring helps me take less damage.

I mentioned this in my initial post, not that I expect anyone to read it though.. lol, it ended up being way too long.

But yeah, the best part about Aegis is the -25% magic taken and the shield bash. Due to SE capping the shield block rate and them adding Shield Mastery, a simple Koenig or Kaiser shield can block just as often as Aegis. Some even debate that Kaiser is better in some ways since it has Enmity. IMO Aegis is still awesome, but just not for the block rate anymore like before.

Seems like depending on what you are fighting it would be best to have the option of swapping aegis for kaiser and vice versa. Though it might prove trying to convince someone with Aegis to not use it lol.

That pld would probably go /war then anyways. Koenig would be a bit more reliable for nin just duo to a pld/nin needing a bit more enmity to rely on to keep hate.

With the new Bard song (the one that helps prevent enmity loss) PLD/NIN seems like it might have fewer problems keeping hate from hate reset moves. Though I still agree that koenig/kaiser and aegis could be swapped depending on the situation. Also Defending ring would be helpful in either situation, but it almost seems to be just an e-peen item.

In the long run I suppose -10% damage helps, so having the ring = awesome, and not having the ring still doesn't seem so bad.

Which Situations would you swap out aegis for Kaiser for anything other then kiting? Only thing I can think of that we kite is KB, and I'd still wear my Aegis incase I accidentlly land a meteor

Not sure how much this situation makes sense, but what about CoP wryms when they spam hate reset moves? Even if you only subbed in kaiser for a minute or so (maybe not even that long) wouldn't it be smart to take all the free hate you can get? (Used free hate meaning enmity+ items).

I'm not a PLD, so I don't really know heh. I just cure people and watch my avatars do the work.

Might also take into account healer's current MP. Maybe swap in aegis when it would be better to take less damage?

Well for Aspi/Vrtra/Jormy I'd understand but for Fafhogg, I think the wing spam is the only thing that makes it "difficult" imo. With Tiamat, as a Taru PLD, my MP is more then enough to hold hate

btw, I do have a Kaiser shield and working on Aegis atm... this little disscussion is making me all "bleh" about spending alot to upgrade it; ;
